"The T2 Autophage is an experimental instrument based on a bacteriophage which is a virus that infects bacteria.
The T2 builds a loop of sounds that vary using an equation that determines the number of bacteria that are likely to be infected by multiple phage. The multiplicity of infection variable in this case is determined by a light level. Some of the sounds decay into high frequencies and some into low frequencies but all of the notes eventually decay into silence.
This synth requires USB power from a portable phone charger, wall socket or a computer.
The sound output is via a 3.5mm audio socket.

"The Tailedphage T4 is an experimental instrument that plays sound in response to changing light conditions. A light sensor at the top of this synth controls the pitch of the notes played, as the device senses a change in light that change is converted to a proportional pitch and entered into a loop.

4th entry to the StarCruncher Series of Data Distortion Synthesizers
'Data Distortion' Synthesis is an exciting and newly unexplored method of Digital Sound Synthesis. This experimental technique of sound processing can result in wildly unpredictable timbres and sonic interactions usually found only in analog gear
A typical digital synthesizer sound engine operates much like a multi-lane highway. each of the oscillator voices like cars driving next to each other, drivers waiving politely to one other as everyone travels safely under the speed limit. the sound engine of this instrument is like taking those same cars and having them all smash head first into each other at maximum speed. using the unique controls of this synthesizer, this resulting explosion can then be slowed down, reversed, magnified, literally ripped apart and turned inside out all while being translated into sound.
this model features an 8-key keyboard and measures over twice the length of previous StarCrunchers
Includes: printed instruction guide and mini USB cable
"A new 'metal' synth prototype, it makes a variety of metallic (and sci-fi) sounds using shaped noise."
via Rakits.co.uk where you can find more pics and a newsletter sign-up.
"A new prototype percussion synth has been in the works for some time now and it has finally emerged.
The prototype features:
White noise, ‘metal’ and external sound sources
A Polivoks style filter with switchable bandpass/lowpass modes
Sweep for subtle to sci-fi sounds
Adjustable decay and tails contour generator
CV controllable filter cutoff & Gate Input
The Prototype
Initially we went through a few filter circuits before we settled on a polivoks style filter (think abusing op amps). The unit is able to create classic synthesised metallic sounds, hi-hats, cymbals and even an approximation to a snare.Just like our drum synth, you can coax interesting and useful sounds out of the unit, but as you dial it up you get all sorts of crazy. As an added bonus the filter works as a third voice for sci-fi laser sounds.
The white noise and ‘metal’ sound sources are produced by an 8 pin attiny. The VCA is a long tail BJT pair, which on the final unit will contain a matched NPN transistors pair soldered on by us. We thought about matching pairs by hand but we don’t have the time and its unfair to make the customer do this themselves.
A lot of mods have been made to get the unit working so another prototype run will be made before a product can be launched. But I’m hopeful it will only take one more board spin.
Currently we are pretty pleased with the sound palette and fitting any more components would be near to impossible, but any feedback will be considered.

The 3rd revision of the newly entitled 'StarCruncher' series of data distortion polyphonic synthesizers. This revision features a new Cross Mod FM Distortion method that opens up new distorted textures
with all distortion controls set to '0' or 'off' this instrument functions as a 3-Voice Polyphonic Wavetable Sound Synthesizer with adjustable Decay Envelopes for the 3 Voices. this Wavetable based synth is loaded with 45 unique waveform shapes to choose from. Once the data distort controls are increased, the unit becomes a totally different instrument that specializes in exploring the unpredictable sound possibilities of data distortion type synthesis. unexpected wavefolding and frequency modulations occur while processing synthesis data is stretched, overflowed, and twisted upon itself. use controls -data distort (main)- and -cross mod fm level- to play and manipulate these different data distortion methods to find new interactions and timbres
-powered by USB (mini cable included)
-printed instructions (included)
-audio output through 1/8th inch 'headphone jack'"
"Sound demo of a touch synth called The Squeeze. The more contact with the skin in the hands there is the higher the pitch. It has a LFO that gates the signal and two wave forms a square and filtered square."
"PULSAR-23 is the upcoming organismic drum machine and rhythm synthesizer that is now in development at SOMA laboratory.
The video shows the laboratory prototype, which does not have the final look, the enclosure or the final panel design. Some minor features may change and some control options will be added. I've done the development of the main sound design and circuitry on it and now, when that part has been finished, I would like to introduce the project to the world.
For more information, how to buy, the price, when and where it will be available, please visit the SOMA site:

Monophonic, analog, square-wave synthesizer with 2 octaves of keys and octave divider
Monophonic:
Only one note at a time can be played. This is opposed to “polyphonic,” where multiple simultaneous notes can be played.
Analog:
There are no computers, microcontrollers, sound samplers, or anything digital involved. The sound you hear is the sound of a speaker being abused by discrete electronic components like capacitors and resistors and logic chips.
Square-wave:
When its output is viewed on an oscilloscope, its wave resembles a square. It’s a “hard” sounding wave type, great for bass lines, and commonly associated with chiptune music and old video games.
This is the OKAY 2 Synth DIY Kit, and it's just like the original OKAY Synth but now features two octaves of keys and a 1/4" audio out jack. Assembly required. Includes the PCBs, electronics components, and assembly guide.
If you have your own 3D printer, you can print the enclosure, keys, and all the other non-electronic parts yourself. 3D model STL files are available on Thingiverse.
If you want 3D-printed parts included, please note that they will be printed on demand. These orders typically ship within one business week.
Under the hood, it’s powered by an LM555 timer (astable mutlivabratory), CD4040 ripple-carry binary counter/divider (frequency divider), and an LM386 power amplifier. All are the standard circuits you'll see diagrammed in their datasheets.
Monophonic with high note priority
Six selectable octaves and one octave of keys
Satisfying "clicky" tactile switches
Built-in amplifier and speaker
9v battery required, not included"
Generates pentatonic scales.

The PolyKey/Distortion Synthesizer is an experimental Lo-Fi sound device that explores the unpredictable realm of 'data type' distortion.
when the 'data distort' control is at 0 (far right knob), the device functions as a polyphonic 5-voice wavetable synthesizer. each voice has it own key button and a microtonal pitch control knob above.
decay control for the 5 enveloped voices (top knob) and 40 waveform shapes are available to shuffle between using the wave button (directly under decay control knob)
the data distort control "inflates" the audio data stream and also adjusts the threshold (or data type) in which the sound data can 'overflow' . this overflowing of data causes drastic frequency modulation and unpredictable wave folding. these effects and percussion type sounds can be explored using the 5 pitch control knobs above each voice key and by switching between the 40 unique waveform shapes.
audio output - 1/8 inch "headphone style" jack
power - mini USB cable included

"Our mission is to make sounds tangible. That's why we are developing instruments with haptic interfaces for electronic sound - both analog and software synthesis. Our Instruments have excitable surfaces that you can scratch, hit or bow. A developer edition of our first product will be presented at Superbooth: Digital sound designers can get touch information and vibration via USB. For analog synthesis it can output CV for x, y, gate and additionally the vibration signal."
