Accord Melisma-New Remote CC's!
freshnelly
"This video is about a new addition for the upcoming V.1.4
There are 5 new MIDI CC remote controls!
Root & Chord Progression windows, Inversion, Expand, and Gate override.
This allows flexibility when using Melisma's LINK in from a MIDI breakout and desktop controller what-have-you.
This also frees up assigned MIDI CC jack to control other internal or external functions and enables footswitch control of the Gate (i.e. note stretching during progressions or direct control of chords playing during no gate or progressions)
V1.4 should be out in upcoming week or two pending de-bugging and numerous other improvements and additions"

Demo of a new sound set featuring the 1.5 update to be released today from MajorOSC:
"Because of the new features, MajorOSC was able to completely reapproach the design process for sequencing and expressive interaction while playing a sequence. The results speak for themselves on this short demo"
And the official press release:
Ashun Sound Machines makes major strides in advancing Hydrasynth sensation with Version 1.5 feature-heavy firmware update
LOS ANGELES, CA, USA/HONG KONG, CHINA: musician-empowering musical instruments creator Ashun Sound Machines (ASM) is proud to make major strides in advancing its innovative Hydrasynth digital wave morphing synthesizer — launched late last year to widespread critical acclaim as its inaugural hardware product, produced as a keyboard variant (featuring a proprietary PolytouchTM 49-note polyphonic aftertouch keybed and a user- assignable ribbon controller) and desktop variant (with 24 velocity- and polyphonic aftertouch-sensitive pads, plus an included 19-inch rack-mount kit) — with a feature-heavy firmware update, as of August 6…New arrivals Ashun Sound Machines made a huge splash when diving deep into the synthesizer world with the introduction of its Hydrasynth sensation in both keyboard and desktop variants late last year. Ultimately, users appreciated an unprecedented combination of sound generation methods and processing power — anchored around a unique digital wave morphing synthesis engine as an eight-voice polysynth whose three oscillators can all make use of any one of the 219 single-cycle waveforms available, while flexibly facilitating defining eight waveforms into a list and then morphing from one to the next using extensive movement-inducing modulation sources with Wave Scan mode (for OSC 1 and OSC 2 only) — potently coupled with hardware that is perfectly tailored for live interaction and real-time tweaking, all at a very affordable price. Perhaps best of all, a new generation of synth users were introduced to an amazingly expressive way to shape individual notes, thanks to that proprietary PolytouchTM 49-note polyphonic aftertouch keybed and a user-assignable ribbon controller.
Today, the release of the Version 1.5 firmware update for the Hydrasynth brings an amazing array of new features and behaviours to an already sensational synthesizer, starting with advancing its unique-sounding synthesis engine several steps further forward. Firstly, five new filter models are available in FILTER 1 — namely, LP Stn12, ASM’s version of a popular 12dB low-pass filter; LP 1 Pole, a gentle 6dB low-pass filter; and LP 8 Pole, a steep 48dB low-pass filter; alongside BP Stn12, a popular 12dB band-pass filter with dual 6dB slopes; and HP Stn12, a popular 12dB high-pass filter — expanding its total to 16 filter models. Meanwhile, that Version 1.5 firmware update also adds a second multi-mode filter type to FILTER 2, with an ability to switch between LP/BP/HP (low-pass/band-pass/high-pass) or LP/NOTCH/HP (low-pass/notch/high-pass) filter modes. Thereafter, the Hydrasynth now benefits from microtonal scale support, opening up a brave new world of musical expression beyond the 12 tones most prevalent in Western music to allow composition and performances from any culture or harmonic discipline with 32 custom scales loadable using MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) Tuning Standard files. Furthermore, envelopes can now be triggered from as many as four sources, including LFOs (Low Frequency Oscillators), keyboard, ribbon, CV (Control Voltage) INPUTS, and PEDAL — EXPRESSION — input, whereas previously they were all triggered by the keyboard only. On top of that, the LFOs themselves have been upgraded to allow up to 64 steps when set to Step mode, with a new SemiLock feature to quantise those steps for pitch control of the oscillators.
MOD MATRIX improvements in the Version 1.5 firmware update makes creating modulation routings one step easier by allowing users to choose a specific parameter in a MODULE to be the modulation destination via direct selection, thereby creating a link between the source and destination in the fewest number of possible steps. Since the MOD MATRIX itself has been expanded to allow new modulation destinations with many more VOICE parameters and macros being added to the destinations, there are now many more sound design options available.
ASM has also updated the RANDOM page so users can set a percentage of how much randomisation takes place in each MODULE. Many more usable patches result from an added second patch randomisation option that generates a new patch by pulling in a random selection of values from other patches, which themselves are selected at random from every bank by combining various aspects of patches that are already known to be useful.
The PRE-FX and POST-FX modules both benefit from the addition of a new stereo Distortion effect, with controls for Drive, Tone, Asymmetry, and the Overdrive curve, as well as Output level.
LATCH mode moves things onwards and upwards, allowing users to press a key and have that key stay holding for as long as the LATCH button itself is enabled — ideal for ambient and generative patches.
System setup changes courtesy of the Version 1.5 firmware update include a Save System state, allowing users to boot up their Hydrasynth with a patch of choice; shorter timing options in Vegas mode; additional (Buchla®) 1.2V per octave support via the CV OUTPUTS; an option of selecting MIDI CC mode or NRPN (Non-Registered Parameter Number) modes, making automation in DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) that do not support NRPNs possible, while that all-important user-assignable ribbon controller can now send NRPN or pitchbend data — all aiding ASM in making major strides in advancing its Hydrasynth sensation... dive deeper than ever before!

Sequential Adds User Wavetable Import for the Pro 3 Multi-Filter Mono/Paraphonic Synth
via Sequential
Sequential Adds User Wavetable Import to Pro 3 Multi-filter Mono Synth
San Francisco, CA—July 29, 2020—Sequential today announced a significant enhancement to their acclaimed
Pro 3 multi-filter mono synth — support for user-created wavetables. A hybrid instrument, the Pro 3 features two VCOs plus a third, digital oscillator with 32 permanent factory wavetables.
Sequential’s web-based utility Wavetable Generator allows users to convert up to 16 single-cycle waves into a Pro 3 compatible wavetable and load it into to any of the 32 user wavetable slots on the synth. This significantly expands the sound palette of the instrument. Custom wavetables are generated as SysEx files that can be archived and shared with other Pro 3 owners. To use the feature, users will need to upgrade to version 1.1 of the Pro 3 operating system, available on the Support page of Sequential’s website. Both the Wavetable Generator utility and OS upgrade are provided free of charge to Pro 3 owners.
“How do you make an awesome-sounding hybrid synth even better? By letting users import their own wavetables,” said Sequential founder Dave Smith: “It opens up a lot of new sonic territory for the Pro 3. We hope users get crazy with it.” Sequential chose to provide the utility as a web app for easy access and broad support. Added Smith: “We wanted to make getting custom waves into the Pro 3 as simple as possible. Ease of use is always a big priority on our synths.”
A hybrid instrument, the Pro 3 features three classic analog filters (Prophet-6, OB-6, and ladder) and three oscillators (two VCOs and one wavetable oscillator) along with a powerful new 16-track sequencer, and the ability to connect with modular synths through its four control voltage ins/outs. The feature set is rounded out with a multimode arpeggiator, three LFOs, four loopable ADSR+delay envelopes, dual digital effects (delays, reverbs, and various time-based effects), tuned feedback, analog distortion, and extensive modulation possibilities. The synth is also capable of 3-voice paraphonic operation.
The full-featured sequencer provides 16-track sequences of up to 64 steps, with ratcheting, variable gate and sequence lengths, multiple playback modes, and paraphonic operation. It also syncs to MIDI clock and external audio input, and inputs/outputs control voltages. In addition to notes, sequence tracks can control any parameter in the 32-slot, 171-destination modulation matrix.
Sequential is offering two versions of the Pro 3, the standard edition, and the Pro 3 SE, a special edition that puts the same synthesis power into a collector-worthy design with a tilt-up control panel and premium-grade walnut trim.
The Pro 3 standard edition has a US MAP of $1,599.
The Pro 3 SE has a US MAP of $2,099.

Nonlinear Labs C15 - Major Software Update Released
Nonlinear Labs C15 - New Features - Update 2020
via Nonlinear Labs
"The C15 received the most significant software update since its release. It's an update of the operating system, the synth engine and the user interface. It includes layer, split and mono modes, more voices, and more macro controls and modulation targets.
Get an impression of the new features in this video.
Get a detailed list of all the improvements here.
This update continues the constant evolution of the C15 since its launch three years ago. It expands its range and quality of sounds and improves his playability and suitability for musical performance. The update is accompanied by around 200 new presets making use of the new features.
The new software is a complete rewrite. Based on the new architecture, future developments will be easier and will also benefit from new opportunities. The synth engine and the user interface now both run on Linux.
The update is free for all C15 users, who will also benefit from the interchangeable magnetic foils, as the new version comes with updated overlays reflecting the new features.
As of now all new instruments will be shipped with the new system and we will contact all users in the coming weeks to perform the update with them. Early models of the C15 will be brought to Berlin to update the hardware in order to install the new software."

Roland TR-707 ROM Expansion Kit
Harry Axten
"Coming soon for the Roland TR-707 and TR-727..."
via https://hkadesign.org.uk
"You asked for it, now here it is – a ROM expansion kit for the Roland TR-707 and TR-727. It gives the machine 8 banks of sounds you can select, including the stock sounds from both the TR-707 and TR-727, so you can turn one into the other (to an extent – more on this later).Changing between 8 banks would be a bit cumbersome using toggle switches, and I didn’t want to spoil the machine’s futuristic looks either, so this time the bank switching is done by holding down one of the first 8 step keys while turning the machine on. The setting is remembered and will be recalled the next time it’s turned on. There are no modifications to the outside of the machine, and the installation is easily reversible.
Apart from having different sounds, a modified TR-707 / TR-727 behaves exactly the same as a stock unit, no functions are lost. The machine should also be compatible with any other modifications or circuit bends you may have fitted, such as voice tuning, hi-hat decay mods etc.
I’d like to extend a huge thank you to Sunshine Jones, who donated the TR-727 which I used to develop the modification, and who also provided the excellent TR-808 and TR-909 samples which were used in the expansion banks.
The 8 banks included are :
TR-707
TR-727
TR-808
TR-909
LinnDrum
LM-1
DMX
TR-707 + TR-727 mix (handy for those who don’t own both machines)
The ROM expansion kit will switch out all of the sounds (referred to as a bank) apart from the last two sounds (crash + ride / quijada + chime), which will remain the same across banks, as they are stored on their own ROMs in a different part of the machine. I may produce an optional add-on board that can switch these as well if there’s sufficient interest."

Modal SKULPT Firmware 2.0 Now Available
via Modal Electronics
– With new features and improvements, SKULPT is now more attractive for today’s sound designers and musicians, new MODALapp version available as well –
Bristol, UK – 7th July 2020 Modal Electronics, one of the leading synthesiser manufacturers, is proudly releasing Firmware 2.0 for its SKULPTsynthesisers to its users. With significant new functions and many improvements, Firmware 2.0 offers more sonic and functional versatility for creative musicians and sound designers alike. At the same time, a new release of the free MODALapp 2.5.0 becomes available for all supporting platforms, including macOS, Windows, iOS, iPadOS and Android, while the MODALapp plugin for AU and VST3 compatible DAWs was undergoing a refreshment, too.
With the newly introduced MPE support SKULPT is compatible with MPE controllers. With MPE, every played note can be articulated individually and allows a more expressive performance. Because each MIDI note is assigned to its unique MIDI channel, every MIDI note can receive dedicated MIDI Channel-Expression commands. This feature delivers creative, next-level performance opportunities. SKULPT is now the most affordable MPE polyphonic hardware synth available on the market.
SKULPT’s integrated Arpeggiator offers the new mighty Sustain/Arp Latch Mode to expand the performance versatility. This function works like a classic arp hold that can also be used when the arpeggiator isn’t engaged.
The new Global Tune Setting ensures better integration of SKULPT into mixed setups with other, less accommodating equipment in studio and live applications, like analogue synthesisers or DJ turntables, which tend to be less precise in tuning.
Finally, a new global setting enables a MIDI-In Offset, that simplifies the integration of Skulpt as a desktop module with other synths. MIDI-In Offset allows the configuration of the correct pitch playing range of each individual patch without having to adjust the octave settings of the external controller.
SKULPTsynthesiser is available through selected retailers worldwide. To install the firmware upgrade, the free MODALapp, Modal’s universal editor and sound managing app is required.
