2hp VCO // 'Classic' Curtis CEM3340 Eurorack oscillator

Published on Apr 16, 2019 DivKidVideo

"Next up in the #2hpTuesdays series of videos on the 2hp Eurorack modules is the VCO module. It's a Curtis CEM3340 based analog oscillator with triangle, pulse and saw outputs, FM, hard sync and PWM and of course tuning and 1v/oct control."

2hp TM Turing Machine // Random modulation, melodies and more for Eurorack synths

Published on Apr 2, 2019 DivKidVideo

"Up next in the #2hpTuesdays series of videos is the TM or Turing Machine from 2hp. It creates random stepped patterns with a length of 1 to 32 steps per pattern, you have full variable random to locked/loop functionality under CV control as well as the step length. In the video we make some looping modulations, turned stepped CV into random gates, funk up so hi hats in our beats and create evolving and performable/controllable melodies."

2hp LFO // teeny tiny action packed modulation!

Published on Mar 26, 2019 DivKidVideo

"It's Tuesday I have some more 2hp modules to cover so it's #2hpTuesdays again! This time I'm checking out the lovely little LFO module. Small (2hp wide of course) but still with plenty of features we have 8 waveforms that blend/fade/morph between each other across two different outputs rate control with CV input, CV input to morph through the waves and a reset to re-sync the phase of the waveform. High and low ranges take it from around 30 seconds up into low audio rates. "

2hp MMF - Analog Multimode Filter #2hpTuesdays

Published on Dec 11, 2018 DivKidVideo

"Here's the analogue / analog multimode filter the MMF from 2hp. It's a 12dB per octave slope (or 2 pole) circuit with low pass, high pass and band pass outputs. CV over filter cut off and resonance, input, output BOSH job done. :)

2hp Hat - Closed & Open Hi Hats and more! #2hpTuesdays

Published on Nov 27, 2018 DivKidVideo

"Next up in my #2hpTuesdays series of videos looking at the ... you guessed it ... 2hp series of Eurorack modules is the 'Hat'. Not a lovely Deerstalker, Fez of visor beanie but a hi hat module in 2hp. You get a closed and open hi hat, with the closed hi hat choking the open hi hat like many famous drum machines and a real pair of hi hats. We go through the sounds, modulation and making some non-hihat tones like cymbal hits and more cowbell like percussive sounds."

2hp Vowel - Vocal & Formant Synthesis #2hpTuesdays

Published on Nov 20, 2018 DivKidVideo

"So here we have the lovely little 2hp VOWEL. Primed and ready for vocal, vowel and formant synthesis we have a simple little module that delivers a wide range of glottal, throaty tones. There's pitch and 1v/oct input, then vowel and formant controls both with CV inputs and a two way 'also' (algorithm) switch for Vowel of FOF Synthesis.

**INDEX & SECTIONS**

00:13 Patch previews

00:51 Verbal feature run down

01:26 Sound / function demo - controls, modulation, sequencing etc

03:28 Layering sounds for unique tones

06:18 FM and audio rate modulation

08:57 Creating vowel led percussion / drum sounds

10:03 Melodic drone, really lovely if I do say so myself."

2hp Rnd (smooth & stepped random CV and random gates)

Published on Sep 25, 2018 DivKidVideo

"So here's my eighth video in the #2hpTuesdays series of videos covering the 2hp modules. This one is all about random with the Rnd. There's smooth random that moves linearly between values like a shifting triangle wave LFO, quantised random with is quantised to a clock (internal or external) giving you a traditional sample and hold output. Then there's also a clock generator that outputs clock or when in external clock mode it outputs random gates with probability control (instead of internal clock rate) and you also get varying gate lengths. Small, controllable, random is always good fun and really useful, win win for 2hp ... again! :)"

2hp - Arp (arpeggios ahoy!)

Published on May 1, 2018 DivKidVideo

"Video four in my #2hpTuesdays series is with the 2hp Arp module. With major, minor, sevenths, sus4, augmented, diminished chords types and more you're set for a tonne of musicality with the module. You can address the root note (CV transpose) the output, change chord type with CV and also reset the pattern/mode. Modes include, up, down, up/down and random across one or two octaves. There's a lot of fun to be had playing the module with an irregular/random pattern or with non steady clock rhythms so you step through arpeggio patterns in rhythm/sequence as opposed to just straight clocks. Good fun!"

2hp - Kick (808, soft, hard, distorted, boooooom)

Published on Apr 24, 2018 DivKidVideo

"For the third video is my #2hpTuesdays series here is the 2hp Kick! So far we've had the Pluck and Verb which show off the great quality of the 2hp range so far. The kick continues with that level of quality with Kicks ranging from soft and raw 808 like booms and clicks through to more driven, transient heavy (this thing smacks!) and pitch tracked kick/bassline hybrids. There's even a little soft melodic pattern in the video, why not! :)

2hp - Pluck (Karplus Strong Plucked String Eurorack Voice)

Published on Apr 10, 2018 DivKidVideo

"It's immediately obvious within the first plucked note that the new 2hp Pluck sounds good. It's a physical modelling synth voice in a 2hp eurorack module. The module uses a karplus strong algorithm to model plucked strings. You can control the dampening which works like a tonal shift similar to what you'd get from adjusting the length of a string and also the decay which takes it from tight snappy transients through to sustained infinite harp like tones.

Once I go through the features and core sound I get into freezing the 4 polyphonic voices, sequencing 1 voice over 3 held voices, filtering and external processing to create new tones / movement and then using it as a percussion source and in a larger full track/patch.

This is also the start of a new series #2hpTuesdays where I'll be bringing you a video on the 2hp series of modules each Tuesday. Enjoy!"
