Iggor Cavalera and Laima Leyton, a husband and wife duo from São Paulo, are a formidable creative force. Iggor rose to prominence in the late 80’s as the drummer in his band Sepultura. Meanwhile, Laima has an established presence in both music and contemporary art.

They frequently collaborate with Soulwax and have a joint project called Mixhell, blending electronic music with live drumming. Now based in London, they show us around their studio & share insights on their creative practise.

"Loula Yorke is a live artist and composer who uses sound, video and participation to create noisy artworks. Dancing in the spaces where the personal meets the political, her electronic music practice conjures moments of revolt as well as revealing hidden systems of control.

We met up with Loula at Asylum Studios to chat about her unique improvisational process, relationship to music and art, and her influences along the way.

In this episode we visit the London based studio of DJ and artist FAUZIA.

FAUZIA first broke through as a DJ. Inspired by the interwoven legacies of fast music from either side of the Atlantic, her monthly NTS show sees her blend together the best of footwork, jungle and everything in between — with the likes of Mall Grab, Kode9, DJ Taye, Om Unit and Ikonika stopping in for guest spots.

The start of 2020 saw FAUZIA start to showcase her own original music for the first time, first with a celebrated production mix for DISCWOMAN, and then with a contribution to the flagship 10th edition in HAUS of ALTR’s various artists series — picking up glowing press from Resident Advisor, Mixmag, DJ Mag, Crack and more in the process.

"ALM Busy Circuits presents 'BUSY VISITS..' a brand new video series where we delve into the creative spaces and creative practises of some of our favourite artists.

For the first episode, we visit Powell.

Powell is an artist and musician living and working in London. He is also the founder of Diagonal Records, an imprint created in 2011 that has since grown to incorporate over 60 physical and digital releases, many of them made iconic by Guy Featherstone’s visual direction for the label. He released a volley of deviant dance-oriented music on XL Recordings, as well as a collaboration in 2018 with Turner Prize-winning artist and photographer Wolfgang Tillmans. In 2020 he launched A Folder with visual artist Marte Eknæs and Swiss filmmaker Michael Amstad; AF is a music, film and image platform that can be [mis]understood as a release or work that never ends. In late 2021 he will release Piano Music 1-7 on Editions Mego. VIVA PITA.

Andrew Hale has been a member of platinum and grammy award winning band Sade since 1983. He is also known for his scoring work including BAFTA award winning computer game sound track 'LA Noire’, and critically acclaimed OST's for 'Scott Pilgrim' & ‘A Wrinkle In Time’.
