Hologram Chroma Console + Great Conjunction generative synth - every effect isolated NO TALKING shhh
video upload by Arman Bohn
"Just giving some love to a brand new Hologram Chroma Console. My Great Conjunction prototype just came in today, and I decided to set up a simple, generative patch and play with each effect on the chroma console.
I didn’t get into too many of the shift menus. Just a brief exploration of what each effect does in the context of a pretty, basic synth sound.
This thing really shines when you start adding the effects together and get into some of the deeper features of motion capture.
I may even dust off the guitar and plug it in, who knows!
I sell my synths/devices over here:

Playdate micro console & Hologram Microcosm 10/10 ambient highwater skinny jeans marimba yuccie mix
video upload by Arman Bohn
"Here we go.
Plugging the unobtainable directly into a cheat code.
Playdate running 'Modular Play' app. Using the 'ball' sequencer to drive a couple marimba samples and a standup bass. And an 808 of course.
Marimbas are basically ANOTHER cheat code in ambient music.
Microcosm just just adds the magic."

Prismatic Spray + Hologram Microcosm jam #1
video upload by Arman Bohn
"Prismatic Spray on sale now for 20% off!
Through 11/27/23!
https://www.tindie.com/products/distr...
Finally took a minute to just run my Prismatic Spray through my microcosm. They’re not tempo synced, but it is such chaos it doesn’t really matter. the Prismatic Spray provides the core of the sound and the microcosm adds a layer of magic."

MIDI out test Great Conjunction prototype into the Prismatic Spray through Hologram Microcom
video upload by Arman Bohn
"It’s been a while. I’m back. Here is yet another in the seemingly endless prototypes of the Great Conjunction. I’m testing the out from the sequencers of the GC, feeding the output of the first sequencer via MIDI into the Prismatic Spray. All of this is getting beautified by the Hologram Microcosm."

Lofi tech beats PCBcore w/ NUNOMO QUN MKII, TX-6 and pikocore
video upload by Arman Bohn
"Bare PCB devices. The Qun clocks the piko through the rk-006.
The Qun provides a generative bass-scape and I tweak the amount of FM and certain probability ranges. The Qun has been a bit of a mystery … I’m still thinking about making a video where I talk through trying to use it."

"Here is some noise.
The triangle thingie is the hex lag. A live input bit crusher mangler delay thing that I just received.
What does it sound like?

Generative CLOSE ENCOUNTERS road trip with norns “pixels”, Wingie MKii, Bastl Kastle Drum & TX-6
video upload by Arman Bohn
"Devils Tower is on the horizon. Pixel static notes and MIDI data. The Kastle excites the Wingie.
Alien welcome melodies played backwards and forwards, but probably never in the right order. Only 1970s practical effects here. Or is it all just CG?"

Harmonic halls of noise - Prismatic Spray, norns “pixels”, 1010music lemondrop and TX-6
video upload by Arman Bohn
"The Prismatic Spray provides most of the sonic textures here. The notes it plays are controlled by a single pixel grooving along on the screen on the norns. The sound is then chopped up by the lemondrop and played back at various octaves. The Norns also provides five channels of sine wave drones. Everything is mixed in the TX-6.
You can pick up the Prismatic spray on my tindie shop:

guided mumbles - Roland j-6, Dirtywave M8, MT32-pi, Phantasmal Force, TX-6
video upload by Arman Bohn
"More noises. Chord sequencing the J-6 via the M8. The J-6 passes the notes to the MT32. Phantasmal Force for the mutes. TX-6 for the mix."

Broken beats w/ Pikocore, Dirtywave M8, Roland J-6, TE TX-6
video upload by Arman Bohn
"More experiments with the pikocore. Random chord triggering sent from the M8 to the J-6. The Pikocore is synced to the J-6 which is clocked to the M8.
I’m syncing key changes to the random chords as well. I think I’ll continue down this path towards actual pseudo random song creation … so possibly more M8 + J-6 combos in the near future. The modulation options on the J-6 are nonexistent sound design is incredibly limited. I could use another mini synth instead, maybe the great conjunction, or the kasser arcade. but that would take more cord wrangling in the m-8."
This is the first post to feature the pikocore.

Meditative infinite reflection pool - 1010music Lemondrop, TX-6, Monome norns “pixels”
video upload by Arman Bohn
"Floating in the ether. My script 'pixels' sends out some vibes in G Phrygian. The notes being determined by the graphics. The 1010music Lemondrop granulates the live input from the norns. The TX-6 mixes it all.
I’ve really enjoyed the lemondrop more lately. That’s great it turning things into swirly soundscapes."

Incidental music for an imaginary exploratory game Great Conjunction, 1010music Lemondrop, TE TX-6
video upload by Arman Bohn
"Just sit back and enjoy this one. This combo produced many haunting chords, and rhythms over the last week. I’m not sure if this pass captured all the possible magic that I heard but I think you can fill in the blanks.
I recently signed up with a distribution service, and I think this particular set up might actually produce my first ambient track/release.
The great conjunction is creating all the tonal and percussive information, which is being fed into the lemondrop, which slices and dices the grains of sound, and plays them back rhythmically.
It gets a little intense sometimes, and then there’s some sparseness that reminds me of breath of the wild when you’re just standing there, looking at something beautiful."

Working out a new audio circuit for the Great Conjunction 2op FM Fragment Synth
video upload by Arman Bohn
"Every week the wonderfully purple, Great Conjunction, gets a little tiny bit closer to being completed. No major breakthroughs on the software front but I did squash a few bugs and probably created a few more. I spent a good deal of time reworking the PCB to incorporate a new audio output circuit. I’ve ordered up most of the parts that I’ll need for the next batch of five prototypes, and I hope to order of the prototypes within a week."

The GC provides most of the melodic and chordal work here, with key changes coming from the M8. The Phantasmal Force is simply controlling the volume levels on the M8, which is itself providing the bass and drums."

A spot on the beach at night - Phantasmal Force, Dirtywave M8, Great Conjunction, TX-6
video upload by Arman Bohn
"Almost summer. Microscopic particles of pollen. Aliased waves hit an 8-bit shore.
 Sometimes things come together.
Phantasmal Force controls, mute on the M8. The Great Conjunction produces generative rhythms, and bleeps."

Great Conjunction FM fragment synth development - polyphonic MIDI note mode
video upload by Arman Bohn
"An update on the development of the Great Conjunction 2op FM synth based on the YM2413 sound chip from the 1908s.
I’ve been working on a new mode where any or all of the three sequencers can respond to meeting notes on specific channels. Sequencer one and sequencer two are both monophonic, but sequencer three has seven notes of polyphony.
Playing in MIDI note mode sounds pretty bizarre when running against some of the sequencers. I’m pretty much trying this for the first time here so the sounds are abrasive and weird, but I’m sure with some fine-tuning the sequencers can become incredible modulators."

Chill synthetic synthwave Great Conjunction, Bluebox and OMX27
video upload by Arman Bohn
"Starting to get MIDI sorted out on the Great Conjunction. The OMX27 is sending notes and each of the three sequencers is set to receive them on the same channel, essentially coordinating key changes in the generative pattern.
The bluebox is doing some heavy lifting here, with a very thick reverb and slight delay.
Two of the sequencers are set to instrument 77, while one of them has a more dramatic flute like tone going on.
I have almost all of the parameters of the Great Conjunction connected to MIDI CC. Next, I’m going to work out some kind of mode where you can actually play the synth directly via a keyboard."
