Music Generated by IOLabs Flux for Sequential Prophet 10

video upload by Friendly Noise

"Flux is an incredible rhythm generating machine, but it can also make repetitive or evolving melodies. All melodies in the video are generated in real time by Flux. I used the Befaco VCMC voltage to midi converter to translate the analog triggers and voltages generated by Flux into midi messages that the Prophet 10 can understand.

On Mordax Data’s display you can follow the note triggering, with lower notes in the upper lane and progressively higher notes showing in the other three lanes.

Some delay and reverb were added in the DAW after recording."

“SIG 03 - Meet Chromaphone” by Friendly Noise

video upload by Friendly Noise

"The amazing Befaco Voltage Controlled Midi Converter (VCMC) allows you to convert analog signals like voltages and gates into midi messages with microscopic detail and programmability. I think that SIG and VCMC can be best friends, because with VCMC you can record the output of SIG as midi data in the DAW of your choice, for later editing, cut and paste, …

Modules: Stochastic Instruments Stochastic Inspiration Generator + Expander, Befaco VCMC.
VST: AAS Chromaphone."

Flux controls via Befaco VCMC the physical modelling monophonic synthesizer Aodyo Anima Phi.
Flux controls the size of the reverb using VCMC.
Everything you hear is a 1 step sequence. However, the cv generated by channel 1 of Flux is in S/H mode, so that notes are constantly changing.

Flux’ macro pots are assigned to Density, CV 1 maximal range controlling depth of MW modulation on Anima Phi, CV 4 depth and CV 4 maximal range. CV 4 controls the size of the reverb on Nightsky.

Slider 8 on VCMC increase the pitch of the generated notes.
Slider 7 on VCMC generates mod-wheel CC
Other sliders are assigned to the modulation busses of Anima Phi."

“IOLabs Flux 35 - Meet Anima Phi” by Friendly Noise

video upload by Friendly Noise

"In this video, Flux controls via Befaco VCMC the physical modelling monophonic synthesizer Aodyo Anima Phi. The unexpectedly organic sequences generated by Flux make a great combination with the wide range of Anima Phi’s sounds. Flux’ macro pots are assigned to Density, Compression, Curve and Humanise.
Slider 8 on VCMC generates mod-wheel CC."

This video shows the power of Flux after the firmware upgrade V1.06.
Flux is now fully controllable via midi messages and it sends midi control signals, too.
You can use the midi port on the back pannel or the coming little expansion module.
Flux is class compliant. :-)

When combined with different VST instruments, the intricate and ever evolving patterns that Flux can generate simply shine. Everything is based on an 8 step sequence."

Befaco VCMC/CV Thing Firmware 1.3

“Befaco VCMC - Tangerine Dream” by Friendly Noise video by Friendly Noise

"From Befaco labs we are happy to announce a new major update on VCMC and CV thing family: The new 1.3 version.

The main change here is a super flexible Chord generation feature. Allowing to quantize the notes and generate the relevant chords in many different scales.

Chord generation allow, not only selecting the scale, but also the type of chord, inversion and voicings as well as root note. All these functions controllable via CV or other Faders in the module!

We are proud to say that the mode is working like a charm: so generating polyphonic melodies in your MIDI gear from our eurorack is easier today than ever! Check this video for a nicve example.

Apart of this main feature, we also implemented Channel pressure messages, improved compatibility with iConnectivity devices and solved a few little quirks and bugs.

Firmware is available at Befaco github: https://github.com/Befaco/VCMC

And we have uploaded a video to help everyone upgrade and callibrate the module."

You can get the WAV file for this recording on my Patreon page - https://www.patreon.com/posts/36703948

Here are some patch notes:
---------------------------
- I have a flute, kalimba, my voice, a viola, and a piano recorded into Arbhar, and I'm scanning through the different layers.
- I'm also modulating the length and the window of the grains.
- I've recorded the O Coast into the Morphagene, and I'm modulating the Gene size and Slide. I'm also sending it through some delay and reverb in VCV Rack.
- I'm using the Mimeophon and Magneto as voices, sending them to delays and reverbs in VCV Rack.
- I've recorded my son's metallophone into Microcell, and I'm modulating the position.
- I have one Freak set to two self-oscillating filters, and they are going through some overdrive with LedRover, and bit crushing with ReduXer, and they also go through another Freak set to Ferox.
- I'm using the Disting as an LFO to modulate the cutoff of Freak.
- The CV out of Morphagene goes through the Befaco VCMC to VCv Rack, where I use it as pitch information to an FM voice."

Molten Music Monthly - April 2020 - Superbooth Special

Published on Apr 30, 2020 Molten Music Technology

"It's been Superbooth 2020 Home Edition and there's too much stuff. Not all of it was new but we had unprecedented detail in awesome live streams about a load of modules and synth. Including my own live stream interviews with synth related people who fascinate me. There are lots to get through and this is just the stuff that I liked in particular - there are loads of things I didn't have space for.

Erica Synths goes nuclear, ST Modular releases 1000 DIY modules, Ritual Modular gets into 1U, 1010music gives us a mini sampler, Befaco does a mini VCMC, Expert Sleepers gives us double the trouble, Bastl loops MIDI, Liquid Foam is a very cool box, Tangible Waves lets us all build modules, Strokes 2 is a mad software groove machine, TiNRS has a Covid kick drum module, Future Sound Systems has a complex VCO, Noodlebox is a thing, Critter and Guitaris does video, There's a whole synth in KOSMO format, Elk Audio OS does something interesting, and there's a shed load of stereo filters. But first, Distrokid.

Befaco VCMC Voltage Controlled MIDI Controller for Eurorack

Published on Oct 24, 2019 Molten Music Technology

"Let me introduce you to the VCMC from Befaco. It takes all your Eurorack CV modulation, notes and gates and maps them into MIDI so that your DAW or your MIDI synth or soft synth can be controlled and played from your rack. With VCMC you can incorporate soft and hard synths into your Eurorack workflow - that's blooming excellent!"

VOLTAGE CONTROL YOUR MIDI GEAR! with the Befaco VCMC

Published on Oct 24, 2019 DivKidVideo

"Here we have a lovely final piece of the puzzle in terms of studio and live connectivity between voltage controlled gear (primarily Modular Synths) and MIDI gear. The Befaco VCMC is a "voltage controlled MIDI controller" that provides 8 gate inputs, 8 buttons, 8 faders, 8 CV inputs and 2 additional aux inputs that can all be configured for various 1v/oct + gate to MIDI note, gate to MIDI note, MIDI CC, velocity, pitch bend and a whole manner of MIDI data. Set up is relatively quick and easy selecting the input, choosing it's function and then it's MIDI channel. Once your voltages are converted to MIDI you have a USB B and 5 pin DIN MIDI output to connect to all your MIDI gear, modern, vintage, computer based etc. I have more videos to come with the VCMC including looking at using Bitwig and the Boss RV500 reverb pedal. Do let me know what else you'd like to see with the VCMC in the comments.

Voltage controlled MIDI - Befaco VCMC & Percall // Superbooth 2019

Published on May 9, 2019 DivKidVideo

"The VCMC from Befaco gives you voltage control over your MIDI controller ... hey bro I heard you like control so we put controllers on on your control (someone make the meme!) ... With buttons and sliders to create voltages/MIDI values or attenuate and modulate with your CV signals you can voltage control a whole range of MIDI 5 pin DIN or USB MIDI devices right from your Eurorack system. Befaco we're also showing the Percall which gives you 4 VCAs, 4 percussive envelopes, "choke" functions and plenty of mixing and CV over the behaviours of your percussive sounds too."
