Melbourne Instruments announce BITWIG STUDIO integration for ROTO-CONTROL
MELBOURNE, Australia, May 2, 2025: Melbourne Instruments continue to build on the success of their motorized synths, NINA and DELIA, and MIDI controller ROTO-CONTROL launched in January this year. Melbourne Instruments is pleased to announce BITWIG STUDIO integration for Roto-Control is now available as a public beta. This adds to Roto-Control’s acclaimed Ableton Live integration, and now Bitwig Studio users can take full advantage of Roto-Control features with their Bitwig projects.
Melbourne Instruments bring their revolutionary touch sensitive, motorized knob technology along with high-res screens and haptic control to Bitwig Studio users.
Powerful, compact, and portable, Roto-Control features three main modes of operation: MIX, PLUGIN and MIDI with Motion Recorder. MIX Mode will automatically sync Bitwig with all track names and colors instantly appearing on Roto-Control displays. Roto-Control will update track names and colors when connected to an active Bitwig session. No need to save or edit labels – all data is taken directly from the active Bitwig session.
In PLUGIN Mode, plugin parameters and labels are taken directly from Bitwig with one touch, one-time, intuitive easy setup. Learn plugin parameters once and Roto-Control will remember learnt parameters anytime you use Bitwig. All learnt plugin parameters are stored locally on Roto-Control, making it quick and easy to use with any computer setup. Roto-Control is a truly unique motorized MIDI controller that is highly customizable with internal storage for thousands of assignments.
Bitwig Studio users can streamline their creative workflow and quickly evolve ideas with responsive physical control of Bitwig Studio through Roto-Control’s MIX and PLUGIN Modes. This new integration is a collaboration between Bitwig and Melbourne Instruments, responding to the overwhelming demand for Roto-Control support for Bitwig Studio.
Bitwig Studio integration marks the second DAW support for Roto-Control with additional DAW integration currently in the works.
Bitwig Studio integration for Roto-Control is a public beta, please see link for more info and to download the beta firmware. www.melbourneinstruments.com/roto

Velocité - full album (Mike Oldfield meets Air & Tame Impala)
video upload by Caught In Joy
"Inspired by the fluid energy of Tangerine Dream, the layered elegance of Mike Oldfield, and the dreamlike pulse of Air and Tame Impala, this album explores the strange intersections of speed and stillness.
Velocité is a deep, cinematic dive into motion, memory, and momentum—an hour-long journey shaped by analog synths, ambient textures, and hypnotic rhythms.
Created live and mixed with obsessive attention to detail, Velocité captures that fleeting feeling of being in transit—somewhere between the past and the future. Best experienced in one uninterrupted listen.
Composed, mixed and mastered by Caught In Joy. Karol Pokojowczyk uses Bitwig, Moog One, Moog Matriarch, Prophet-10, 3x Moog Mavis, TipTop Buchla modules, Make Noise Strega, Strymon Magneto, Arturia V-Collection and an army of guitar pedals. Performed and recorded live on tape with TEAC 80-8.

Melbourne Instruments Roto-Control Review: Innovative MIDI Controller with Haptic Feedback
video upload by sonicstate
"We take a look at the Roto-control from @melbourneinstruments a new 8 knob MIDI controller, with unique rotary encoder technology using drone motors.
Introduced at NAMM, the controller's encoders provide a tactile haptic feedback, making them configurable in multiple ways. Traditional end stop knobs, rotary encoders, centre-dent, positive multi-position switches/
Connectivity options include USB-C ports for power management and standard MIDI in, out and through connections. Roto-control supports Ableton Live exclusively for now, but additional DAW support is expected in future updates. Melbourne Instruments hinted at imminent updates to enhance functionalities, including Bitwig support and MIDI merge.

NAMM 2025: Bitwig's Step into Hardware with Bitwig Connect 4.12
video upload by sonicstate
"We spoke with Frederik from Bitwig at NAMM, who introduced us to the company's first hardware product, *Bitwig Connect 4.12*. This new device marks Bitwig's transition from a software-only company to a software and hardware player.
An innovative USB audio interface, the Bitwig Connect 4.12 features 4 inputs and 12 outputs. Notably, all inputs and outputs are DC-coupled, enabling better integration with analog gear. The unit features combined XLR/jack inputs for flexibility and includes MIDI in/out, a dedicated headphone output, and connectivity via USB-C.
The control surface on Bitwig Connect 4.12 operates as an audio, MIDI interface, and DAW controller through the UCM protocol. With monitor and transport controls, including a handy Bitwig mode button, you can efficiently manage your workflow.
Accompanying the hardware, Bitwig Studio Essentials software valued at $99 is bundled, and additional partner software is available through the Bitwig Circle program. The retail price for Bitwig Connect 4.12 is set at €499 or $549, with an anticipated release in Spring 2025."

"More than just an audio interface": Bitwig launches its first hardware product at NAMM 2025
video upload by MusicRadar Tech
"German DAW-maker Bitwig has revealed its very first hardware product - Bitwig Connect 4/12. Ostensibly a 4-in and 12-out CV and MIDI-enabled audio interface, Bitwig states that its debut hardware product is 'far more than just an audio interface'… We caught up with them at NAMM 2025 to find out more."
Introducing Bitwig Connect 4/12

Bitwig Connect 4/12
More Than An Audio Interface
Bitwig Connect 4/12 is a class-compliant, 4‑in/12‑out CV- and MIDI‑enabled audio interface with monitor- and DAW-control functionalities and a unique Bitwig Mode.
Your Ultimate Studio Sidekick
Connect is a three-in-one audio/MIDI interface, monitor and DAW controller. Six mode buttons allow its 360°, touch-sensitive dial to adjust interface parameters or control software. It can set input gain, regulate the volume levels for two sets of monitors and your headphones, or even move the playhead and control any Bitwig Studio parameter with exceptional resolution.
The front panel gives you immediate visual feedback, with accurate input and output meters and a ring of 32 RGB LEDs around the dial to visualize parameter values and automation data. Plus, gain settings are accessible and saved within Bitwig Studio, so you can pick up right where you left off next time you open it.
CV Connects the Best of Both Worlds
With two DC-coupled inputs and four outputs easily accessible via 3.5 mm minijacks directly on the front panel, Connect is a superior choice for musicians with CV-enabled hardware. That means it goes both ways: To external devices from Bitwig Studio or other programs, and from hardware sequencers and modulation signals into the software realm.
Thanks to factory calibration, Connect plays pitch-perfect and without offset with Bitwig Studio right out of the box. And since jacks can also be used for audio signals, they can act as additional ins and outs for line-level signals, making them useful to all types of users.
Bring Bitwig Studio to Life
Connect's unique Bitwig Mode puts Bitwig Studio at your fingertips with DAW controller functionalities. Seamless integration makes writing automation, fine-tuning settings, and navigating the timeline in Bitwig Studio with Connect's main dial intuitive and precise. Get quick access to any control with the high-resolution dial by hovering over it with your cursor, and lock a selected parameter to Connect by double-tapping. The LED ring indicates its current task by matching the color of the parameter or track in Bitwig Studio so you'll never get lost.

Korg multi/poly: Deeper Dive and New multipoly-inspired Wavetables!
video upload by Keith Crosley
"Time for moar virtual analog goodness with the Korg multi/poly! In my second (perhaps third) look at multi/poly, I focus on some new and very "synthy" wavetables (and their component waveforms) that are inspired by — and perfect for — loading into your multi/poly, modwave, or any modern wavetable synth. (Such as PhasePlant, Vital, Serum, Eurorack hardware, Bitwig, Surge XT... I mean, pretty much whatever.) I explore 9000+ new wavetables from the new "KRC Synth Sort and Zero Crossing" wavetables collection and drop the usual synth programming and sound design tips-n-tricks along the way. So grab your spectral centroid and get ready for some hot subtractive synthesis action for this zero-crossings-a-go-go episode of your favorite talky synthesizer content show!

Roland MKS-20 for the Prophet X add-on patch/sample bank | Download now
video upload by Espen Kraft
"Prophet X add-on pack | Roland MKS-20 Electric Pianos. Around 1000 multi samples and custom made patches with and without the analog MKS-20 chorus built into the samples.
These samples are recorded by me, out of a vintage Roland MKS-20 I have in the studio.
The price for this add-on is $12USD (or €12Euros if you're in Europe) and I think this is well worth it.
I will only sell these add-ons (more are on the way) directly through email. My CONTACT email address is this: espenkraft69@gmail.com If you want to purchase this pack please send me an email and I'll give you instructions on how to order.
If you want a bundled (discount) price for multiple packs just let me know.
In the download you will find 12 individual patch sysex files as well as the full bank of these 12 patches.
For your convenience I've added two different locations for the patches. The U1 bank from patch 71-82 and the A2 bank from patch 1-13.
If you want to transfer the patches SOMEWHERE ELSE on your own PX, you can do so manually, by editing the individual sysex files. Here is the link to my video where I show how you can do that. It's quite easy: • Prophet X - Overwrite factory memory ...
I can also make a custom sysex file for you if you have a specific bank or patch interval you want to use and you don't feel at easy editing sysex files yourself. This will of course cost extra, but let me know and I'll give you my price for this.
The samples will go here in your Prophet X: u17
You can of course change where you will put this folder as well.
Pack also available as Bitwig, SF2 and Wav files. Price upon request.
The samples and patches I've created are originally meant for MY Prophet X, for my live needs. A way of having all my vintage synths in one keyboard when doing live gigs, doing MY own songs, as faithful as possible to my albums. Now you can have them too.
I've also added the Clavi, Harpsichord and Vibraphone samples and patches in this pack, but these are not multi samples. The main focus was the electric pianos and pianos."
