"THE BAD NEWS:

1) The handle on the bender is broken off. It is still fully functional and easy to use even without the handle. Sorry.

2) The left speaker doesn't kick in unless you turn the volume past the very lowest level. Otherwise, both speakers play fine and are crackle-free so I'm guessing this could be solved with minor cleaning/maintenance. I didn't want to attempt it and potentially mess something else up in the process. The cabinet has never been opened and it's innards have never been messed with.

3) There are only a few minor cosmetic issues. For most I had to work a bit to find the right light and angle so they'd show up in the images at all. The worst scratch is on the bottom and it is minor. There is also a tiny scratch on the top above 'chorus', another [almost completely imperceptible] one above the 'noise' slider, and a rough edge on the front lip of a white key in the top octave. Check the pictures if you're concerned. Overall this thing is in really good condition.

___
THE GOOD NEWS:

APPEARANCE: Fantastic overall cosmetic condition. It has been well cared for and properly stored in dry, smoke-free, heated / air conditioned spaces. It looks great.

FUNCTION: It works like new. Other than the items listed above, all knobs, buttons, keys, etc are in place, and fully functional. No weird quirks.

PURITY: Every single knob, button, circuit, cord, wire, etc. is original and untouched. And it still works. And it sounds great.

LOVE: I am the first and only owner of this thing since it was purchased new in the 80s. It didn't spend a year or two in a garage or on a flea market table or in a thrift store. It hasn't been on tour. It hasn't been used much at all. It deserves a more exciting future.

COOL: Sorry, but this thing is just plain cool. Looks cool. Sounds cool.

SAFE and HEALTHY: The item is currently not vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 but is guaranteed 100% free of COVID-19, seasonal flu, the common cold, and all other deadly and/or bothersome transmissible diseases and/or unfortunate maladies. I cannot attest to the current state of its mental health. It's been quite alone for far too long.

EXTRA: You'll get the original power cord, removable music stand, two pedals, and owner's manuals.

EXTRA EXTRA: You'll also get Roland's 1985 third edition Guidebook for MIDI: Which Greatly Expands Potential of Musical Composition. This winning piece features such enlightening zingers as, "MIDI employs digital signals. That is, MIDI instruments can be set up with a computer" and "MIDI has opened a new way for electronic musical instruments." It ends on a tantalizing note with, "The future of MIDI is full of possibilities not only in the musical field, but also in other fields." Get ready to LEARN!"

Hardback cover. You can find others in the archives.

"223 pages! Excellent condition hardcover book without dust jacket. Some damage from label removed on spine (not a library book). Photograph is actual book you will receive, not a stock photo of a nicer copy.

In depth and highly detailed technical guidebook explaining analog synthesizer building blocks and the design of their circuitry. With real world examples, schematics, and PCB layouts. A great source for learning about how analog synthesizers work."

"Filled with useful electronic circuits for making sound effects and music, the main thrust of the book is on how to make your own analog synthesizer from scratch. Even if you don't intend to build any of the devices mentioned, it gives a great and detailed explanation of the operation of electronic music devices. In addition, the book covers the design of the theremin and Bob Moog's electrifying contributions to modern music. Apart from a little cover wear, the book is in very good condition. Approx 250 pages. Copyright 1975."

PAiA Gnome

via this auction

"Vintage PAIA GNOME micro-synthesizer circa 1978, with instruction book and related technical book.

GNOME has two function generators, VCA, VCF, and VCO (i.e., voltage-controlled amplifier, filter, and oscillator). Normalized design eliminates patch cords and simplifies operation. Includes a novel integral controller strip, which allows control of sound parameters by sliding a probe on a conducting strip of vinyl. See PAIA web site for details about the GNOME.
Includes original 32-page instructional book Using the GNOME Micro-Synthesizer, which explains music theory and gives numerous example patches (knob/switch setting combinations), such as WIND, SNARE DRUM, ELECTRO-SAX, etc. Concludes with schematic and description of each circuit. Booklet is in good condition, except that the staples have been removed from the binding.

More detailed information on the same subject is covered in the INCLUDED book:

Electronic Music Circuit Guidebook by Brice Ward - published by TAB Books - Softcover, second printing (1977) - ISBN-100830647430 - 223 pages. Covers electronic music theory and practice, with many examples of circuits from the PAIA Gnome Micro-Synthesizer, as well as other circuits.
