Tek6 πŸ‘Ύ (Roland TR-6S, J-6, JU-06A + Pill Pedal // Erica Synths DB-01 // Arturia Keystep Pro)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"For the 94th 2-Minute video (actually it will rather be "2 x 2-Minute" πŸ˜‰), we are going for a an uplifting "melodic techno" jam, featuring the Roland JU-06A (synth chords), J-6 (synth chords), TR-6S (drums) ; Erica Synths DB-01 (Bass) ; Arturia Keystep Pro for the sequencing and live transposing parts!

The jams begins with the JU-06A playing a pattern sequenced by the Keystep Pro, where I play with the LFO rate modulating the PWM, allowing to transpose the the riff.

Then, enter the Drums with the TR-6S (only one pattern was used here with the TR-6S' internal sequencer, with probability on some sounds to add small variations 🀩) and the bass part played by the DB-01 Bassline (sequenced by the Keystep Pro).

At last the J-6 is being introduced to play some plucky chords: the simple chords have been sequenced on the Keystep Pro, however I used the "Arp/Rhythmic phrase" feature of the synth to make them syncopate.

* Hardware used *
- Roland TR-6S: drums
- Roland JU-06A + Pill Pedal (triggered by the TR-6S) : synth chords
- Roland J-6: synth chords
- Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline: bass
- Arturia Keystep Pro: sequencer"

Striker πŸ™Œ (Minilogue XD // Drumlogue + Microtubes X + Lethargy // DB01 Bassline)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"I used 3 instruments with their internal sequencers for this electro / synthwave jam πŸ˜‰

CHIMES: The 15-step chimes sequence is being played by the Korg Minilogue XD, hybrid (analog/digital) synth. I also used the Rerun SDK plugin from Sinevibes in order to add some random glitches on the sound.

BASS: The bass is being played by the Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline analog mono synth. I programmed a few patterns with different notes/feel. I also used the 'Accent' feature to make the sequences groove more (it can easily be heard on the intro).

DRUMS / ACID RIFF: The drums are coming from the Kord Drumlogue hybrid drum machine. It was also the opportunity to use its individual outputs (the little volume knobs don't work when using these outputs... really wish there was an easy way to fix this as the outputs are too hot for guitar pedals 😏).
The last acid-like sequence is from the Nano synth of the Drumlogue, going through the Darkglass Microtubes X (analog distortion) + Dreadbox Lethargy (analog phaser).

The DB-01 and Drumlogue Nano synth are both being ducked by the Pill Pedal (triggered by the 4 to the floor pattern of the Drumlogue).

* Hardware used *
- Korg Drumlogue: analog and digital drums, Nano synth (through Microtubes X distortion, Lethargy phaser and Pill ducking pedal).
- Korg Minilogue XD (+ Sinevibes Rerun): chimes
- Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline: bass"

Bassline DB01 (analog synth & sequencer) + Strymon Timeline (delay) // DRUMS: Roland TR6S

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"A minimal techno-like jam with the Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline playing through the Timeline delay and the Roland TR-6S taking care of all the other parts. I really love the new VINYL SIM effect on the TR-6S which I use... and abuse (really love how it compresses, smashes, glues everything πŸ˜…).

At first it's the DB-01 playing and gradually I add in the drum parts. The build is mainly based on the freeze of the Timeline delay 🀩

* Bass: Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline + Strymon Timeline
* Drums: Roland TR-6S"

Acire πŸ₯‰(Erica Synths LXR02 & DB01 // Conductive Labs NDLR turning the LXR02 into a polyphonic synth)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"If you've already watched a some of my videos, you might know that I sometimes like to divert a few electronic instruments from their use πŸ˜…
So here the challenge was to make the LXR-02 (which is supposed to be mainly a digital drum synth) act as a drum machine & a polyphonic pads synth πŸ˜„

For this, I used the Conductive Labs NDLR sequencer with its polychain feature (on its PAD track) which can turn up to 4 mono synths into a 4-voice polyphonic synth. (I used this feature on another video, this time with 4 physical analog mono synths: [below]).

Therefore I used 3 of the tracks of the LXR-02 to play 3-note chords by the NDLR. I used the LXR's individual output, through the Strymon Bigsky reverb for the PADS (through the Pill ducking pedal being triggered by the LXR's drum kick).

I also used 1 track of the LXR-02 to play the ARP part (also sequenced by the NDLR). This time the individual output went through the Strymon Timeline delay.

The Erica Synths DB-01 was used to play the bass riff (still sequenced by the NDLR) through the Eventide - H9 pedal (with some heavy modulated Chorus bringing a Lo-Fi vibe to the sound!).

* Hardware used *

- BASS : Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline + Eventide H9 (Chorus)
- DRUMS : Sonic Potions x Erica Synths LXR-02 (individual output 1+2)
- PADS : Sonic Potions x Erica Synths LXR-02 + Strymon Bigsky + Pill Pedal (individual output 3)
- RIFF : Sonic Potions x Erica Synths LXR-02 + Strymon Timeline (individual output 4)
- LIVE SEQUENCING : Conductive Labs NDLR"

052▶️ Chains (NDLR // Polychain DB01, SE02, 0Coast, Circuit MS // Minitaur // Minibrute // Tanzbar)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"I wanted to use a couple of the nice features of the NDLR for this video, so I went to set up 6 analog mono synths all sequenced by the NDLR, a couple of effects and the Tanzbar drum machine for this video!

The first feature used here is poly chaining, where 1 track (PAD track) of the NDLR sent 4-note chords to 4 mono synths (Erica Synths - DB01, Make Noise - 0Coast, Roland - SE02 and Novation - Circuit Mono Station), considering them as a unique 4-voice polyphonic synth!

It reminded me a bit me my wonderful Vermona Perfourmer, where each voice of the synth can have different setting regarding the oscillators, envelopes, filter etc. 🀩

I needed to make some quite complex routing in order to be able to side chain the pads with the kick of the MFB - Tanzbar analog drum machine.

I also used the 'chord sequencer' of the NDLR in order to play the whole track as a song (it's like a song mode, where sequences automatically change the global chords).

Here are some further details on the setup:

* PAD: DB01 to SE02 to Bigsky (Right Input) to The Pill Pedal (Input 1) triggered by Tanzbar's kick
* PAD: 0Coast to Circuit Mono Station to Bigsky (Left Input) to The Pill Pedal (Input 2) triggered by Tanzbar's kick

These 4 analog synths were set up in order to respond to the poly chain function of the NDLR (i.e. With a 4-note chord, the NDLR will send each note to one the 4 synths).

* DRONE (Bass): The Moog - Minitaur was being triggered by the DRONE track for the bass.
* MOTIF (Melody): The Arturia - Minibrute 1, through the ZVEX - Instant Lofi Junky & Strymon - Timeline

I forgot to mention that the TanzbΓ€r's main output was processed by the Eventide - H9 (Reverse Delay) effect, excluding its kick which was outputted on its separate output in order to trigger the side chain for the pads on the Pill Pedal."

Dancer πŸ•Ί (NDLR // Nymphes + Lofi + Bigsky // DB01 // TR6S // 0Coast + Timeline + Particle // SE02)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"Here is my latest track featuring the inspiring NDLR 4-track sequencer, trying to do something more uptempo this time (the NDLR really excels at doing ambient tracks, but can it be used for some more 'techno' tracks? πŸ€” Hope we'll get an answer thanks to your comments πŸ˜‰)

I used 4 analog tracks for this jam (Nymphes, DB01, 0Coast and SE02), sequenced by the Conductive Labs NDLR sequencer. The drums were sequenced and played by the Roland TR6S 'rhythm performer' (where I used mainly the Analog Circuit Behavior and FM engines). Recorded in one take.

* Hardware used *
- PADS: Dreadbox Nymphes + Zvex Instant LoFi Junky + Strymon Bigsky + Pill Pedal (triggered by the TR-6S)
- BASS: Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline
- MOTIF-1: Make Noise 0-Coast + Strymon Timeline (Delay) + Red Panda Particle 2 (Granular Delay)
- MOTIF-2: Roland SE-02
- DRUMS: Roland TR-6S
- Sequencer: Conductive Labs - NDLR (sequencing all 4 synths)"

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"The Conductive Labs - NDLR sequencer is back on duty again with this jam, quite in the synthwave spirit, especially thanks to the drums from the Roland - TR-6S πŸ˜‰

* Hardware used *
- PADS: Dreadbox Nymphes + Zvex Instant LoFi Junky + Strymon Bigsky + Pill Pedal (triggered by the TR-6S)
- CHIMES: Make Noise 0-Coast + Eventide H9 (Reverse) + Strymon Timeline (Delay)
- BASS: Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline
- DRUMS: Roland TR-6S
- Sequencer: Conductive Labs - NDLR (sequencing all 3 synths)"

909 (Korg Minilogue Xd // Erica Synths Bassline DB01 + H9 + Pill // Roland TR6S // Dreadbox Nymphes)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"I must admit that I don't tend to use the classic TR-909 sounds a lot πŸ˜… But for this time, the Roland - TR-6S had to do the job! So I used a TR-909 kit its the Analog Circuit Behavior engine (no samples from the TR-909 here). The result (the ACB technology from Roland is quite stunning and can really do the job!).

So I had a little help from my friends, one on my left taking care of the drum machine (fading in the sounds, fills, effects etc.), and on my left playing a bell sound on the Korg - Minilogue XD, layered by the a choir-like sound from the 6-voice analog polyphonic Dreadox - Nymphes!

* Hardware used *
- Bells: KORG Minilogue XD
- Bass: ERICA SYNTHS Bassline DB-01 + EVENTIDE H9 + PILL PEDAL
- Drums: ROLAND TR-6S
- Choir-like: DREADBOX Nymphes"

LXR-02 tutorial - Part 8: Euclidean triggers

video upload by Richard DeHove

"Part eight of a guide for the Erica Synths LXR-02 drum machine. This is with firmware 1.2. In some ways this is less of a tutorial and more of a fun exploration with the LXR-02 paired with a DB-01 Bassline and then a Vermona PerFourMer MkII with a Zen delay. The Euclidean triigers come from the LXR-02's pattern generator. In the first example one channel is dedicated to running the DB-01. The interesting sude effect of the triggering is that it adds sustain to the DB-01 sound. This means switching it on and off gives a very different quality to the sound. In the second example four channels of the LXR-02 trigger four different sounds on the Vermona PerFourMer. The fun comes from switching between channels on the LXR-02 to create rythmic variations. The Zen delay gives some extra complexity and dirt on top.

Two White Tape delays in series with a DB-01

video upload by Richard DeHove

"The White Tape delay by Donner is a cheap, simple, dual delay. The left and right channels are totally independent with their own rate, level and feedback. The units handle line level well and were very happy with chewing on the Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline.
The delays themselves are not overly exciting in any way, the mix doesn't go very high (certainly not 100%) and in keeping with the "tape" idea tend to be a bit low-fi. But as a pair of cheap and cheerful stereo-ish delays in series they do an excellent job and delivering somewhat dubby-sounding thickness.
In the second half of the demo I switch the DB-01 into drone mode and let the FM control the pitch, modulated by the S&H LFO. This is where the two delays seemed most happy giving real thickness but without the drenched fuzziness of a reverb.

Two Erica Synths DB-01s attempt Subharmonicon ambience

video by Richard DeHove

"Can two Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline machines achieve Subharmonicon-style ambience? They are wildly different in design and capabilities but the DB-01s can do a surprisingly good impression of "meandering ambience". Here I run through the entire setup and tweaks with less talking as the video goes on. What I did find is that the wonderful Polivoks filter won't be denied and the machines seemed to naturally gravitate to grit and filth and finally ended up in dark ambient territory. For contrast listen at 4:35 and then jump to 20:20. Both machines are running through the same Fabfilter Pro-R reverb setting at a 25% mix.

PS: The focus becomes steadily softer through the video. Why? Who knows, but it's the last time that camera will fail me. Next time, a new camera.
