Cleared for Landing [Novation Circuit & Arturia Microfreak]

Flak Cannon

"A trance-ish duet with Circuit & Microfreak.

Circuit: Pad, bassline, drums
Microfreak: Arpeggio, synced to Circuit's Synth 1 channel playing the pad.
Effects: Valhalla Shimmer & Supermassive

Samples were added afterwards on the DAW."

Slow Tempo Jungle Experiment [Novation Circuit / Volca Sample / Arturia Microfreak]

Flak Cannon

"Old school jungle is one of my favourite electronic music genres, so of course eventually I wanted to try my hands on that. Things did not go as expected since I could not get this track to work at the traditional higher BPM of jungle. Slow it down then! As an end result his experimentative jam was born.

The Novation Circuit isn't actually playing any music, I use it to control the Microfreak to play the pad sound. Volca Sample provides the slowed down amen break."

Sidechaining Is Not A Sin [Novation Circuit]

Flak Cannon

"It's been a while since I've done full track using only Novation Circuit. I powered up my Circuit to find that there's a couple of interesting projects worth recording, here's one of them. Groovy house-ish track with some heavy afterwards processing with Valhalla Supermassive enhanced with some channel panning magick and trickery."

One of Starships [Novation Circuit + Volca Bass]

Flak Cannon

"I've had a Volca Bass for a few weeks, but haven't actually done anything with it. Now was the time for that to change so I paired it with Novation Circuit for some trancey goodness! The original plan was to do a goa track in the style of Astral Projections, but no luck making it work this time. Went with something more lower tempo instead.

The roles of the machines were reversed a bit: the Circuit does the bassline while Volca is on the lead/pluck duty. All of this was finished with a bunch of effects to give more spaaaaaaaaaaaaace.

And a final tip: sometimes I can't come up with a good song title.. so it's time to cheat a bit! A site called 'Seventh Sanctum' is the perfect place for all kinds of nerdy'n'geeky title/idea generating. The 'Science Fiction Tarot Card Generator' was responsible for the name of this track."

Midsummer Nights Dub Reggae Jam [Volca Sample]

Flak Cannon

"A stereo enhancement effect was added to the sound afterwards, otherwise everything is recorded straight from the Volca to a Minidisc recorder."

Dub Techno Jam [Novation Circuit / Arturia Microfreak]

Published on Apr 3, 2020 Flak Cannon

"This is a hypnotic dub techno jam I made with Novation Circuit & Arturia Microfreak. The jamming part is mostly about tweaking the knobs on the Microfreak to make that dub techno chord do different dubtecnoish things.

I made the dub techno chord patch for Microfreak myself. Circuit provides the pad (from some pack, can't remember which), percussion and sequencing. The vocal sample was added afterwards in Reaper.

To make things more dub and techno, various effects etc was added (most notably Valhalla Delay & Shimmer).

Stay safe and avoid the Corona!"

"My second entry to #Jamuary2020, titled 'Eternal Spring'. Happy sounds to fight back the gray and dark grimness occupying the skies here.

Novation Circuit is on the sequencing and drum duty while Roland SC-55 MKI occupies both of the synth channels.

Additional effects by Valhalla Shimmer & Valhalla Delay."

"The idea with Jamuary is to get going with what you have, and to help get comfortable sharing and performing little jams, and to get to know each other and appreciate what everyone is doing in the electronic music independent scene. Post a little music snippet every day of jamuary, or for as many of the days that you have the energy to. Browse the hashtag and get inspired. Get to know musicians you had never heard about, and perhaps even make some friends along the way."

Arpeggio & (i)Pad [Novation Circuit & Audiokit Synth One]

Published on Jul 8, 2019 Flak Cannon

"I'm using Novation Circuit to control the Audiokit Synth One synthesizer app on the iPad. The pad comes from the Circuit, the arpeggio from Synth One. Some of Synth Ones buttons have been mapped to the Circuit - I use them to give some alterations to the arpeggio sound.

Valhalla Shimmer was used to ambientize the sound further."
