今月のモジュラー・シンセ:MAKE NOISE Pressure Points 〜第9回 Patch The World For Peace【サウンド&レコーディング・マガジン】

video by SoundRecordingJP

"東京モジュラーフェスティバル(TFoM)をデイブ・スキッパーとともに毎年開催しているシンセ奏者、HATAKENによる連載『Patch The World For Peace』。記事はWebサイト「サンレコ」でお読みいただけます。
https://snrec.jp/entry/column/patchth...

< br> Hello HATAKEN. Introducing this time is the MAKE NOISE Pressure Points controller, which is unparalleled in the sense that it can be controlled more physically to "play" the module.

Pressure Points is a very delicate module, although it looks like a strong push. By touching the plate with your finger, you can instantly switch the gate signal / CV control / CV set with the three knobs. Since you can operate multiple modules at once, the possibilities are endless depending on how you use them.

HATAKEN [Profile] Has been active as a synthesizer since the 1990s. She has been holding the Tokyo Modular Festival (TFoM) every year with Dave Skipper since 2013. She invites modular synth makers around the world and artists who play modular synths to promote modular synths in Japan.

PATCH & TWEAK - Exploring Modular Synthesis Book on Kickstarter

via Kickstarter:

"The new book about modular synths, their makers, and masters. Patching secrets, performance tips, history, modules, and techniques.

'Hello!

My name is Kim Bjørn – welcome to the PATCH & TWEAK Kickstarter campaign! Following our book PUSH TURN MOVE about electronic music instruments - we are now creating a book on modular synthesis.

We want PATCH & TWEAK to provide an opportunity for new and experienced users to become true masters of their modular systems. In the style of its predecessor, PATCH & TWEAK contains inspirational interviews with significant creators and major artists who all share their passion for modular. Explore their systems, philosophies, patching secrets, and performance tips.

Besides a comprehensive introduction to synthesis and its history, the book covers systematic sections on concepts, purpose and creative possibilities of specific modules. Enjoy colorful diagrams, presentations of both popular and rare modules, semi-modular and software, as well as techniques for patching and how to get started.

PATCH & TWEAK has a foreword by Suzanne Ciani, is written by Kim Bjørn and Chris Meyer, and edited by Paul Nagle.

So what exactly is PATCH & TWEAK? Watch the video, take the tour below, and please support the book by selecting a reward if you like the idea.'

Kim Bjørn, Copenhagen, May 2018

About the book

Meet the makers, and artists

Apart from systematic sections and general subjects PATCH & TWEAK features interviews with the passionate makers of modules and systems, and the artists who use them, and influence them. We have already started interviewing - and when more artists are confirmed, we will keep you updated!

The Rife Machine - Healing With Oscillators

This one in via jeswa.

via wikipedia:

"Rife said that he could find a Mortal Oscillatory Rate[17] (M.O.R.) for various pathogenic organisms, and directed his research accordingly, culturing and testing various pathogens with his Universal #3 microscope and his directed radio frequency energy 'beam ray' tube machine. Rife claimed to have documented the precise frequencies[18] which destroyed specific organisms, and claimed that many, if not all, contagious diseases could be cured using this radiation treatment, using frequencies that were typically in the 10 kHz-100 MHz range (HF to mid-VHF).[19] Rife claims that a clinic was set up by a Dr. Milbank Johnson M.D. which conducted tests using Rife's machine on the growth of typhoid in medium, which he claimed demonstrated no motility of typhoid rods which were exposed to Rife's machine.[20][21] There is no independent verification of any of these claims."

You can find more info on http://www.rife.org/
You can find a software Rife Machine here: http://www.rife.bztronics.com/
And Australia is cracking down: link.

Not directly related, but there is mention of using sound for therapeutic purposes in this Hataken Interview - check it out when you have time - it's an interesting read.

Update via alfried in the comments: "Its good to see your post, thanks for the information. Rife generator is a machine that generates electromagnetic frequencies especially targeted to deactivate harmful toxins on the body."

ULTRA EXPELIENCE / Hataken

YouTube via htkn.

"music : improvisation performance with analogue synthesizers by Hataken. photo slide is include his performance and his instruments for live performance. ending is with some CD covers of his albums and joined. thank you for checking it!"

Interview of Hataken directly below. Note this is the same video in the interview.

Hataken Interview

Back on March 31, I put up a post on Hataken, a Japanese DJ artist who primarily uses analog synths. At the time, Shane Chisolm, the manager of Don Juan Dracula mentioned Hataken was working on a remix version of DJD's "Take Me Home". Shane asked me if I'd be interested in doing an interview with Hataken, and I thought why not. It would be interesting to hear his perspective on the world of synths as a live DJ artist. The following is the result of that interview. Note, this is a long one. You will want to use page down to scroll through. If it is too long for you, I recommend reading one or two questions each time you visit the site. Each DIY item below would typically have been a separate post. There is a lot of interesting stuff here. That said, I start with an introduction followed by asking Hataken how it all started for him. Note the focus is primarily on synths as this site is about everything synth, and Hataken delivers. The gear he has both worked with and designed to meet his specific needs is overwhelming. There's also an interesting interlude on experimenting with frequency counters to produce specific frequencies of sound known to have healing properties, and of course there is a bit of the age old discussion of digital and analog.

Before we start the interview, I want to thank Hataken for taking the time out for this, and I want to thank Shane for suggesting it. It's a fascinating history of a DJ synth artist with interesting perspectives that I'm sure I will come back to over time. Be sure to check out the video and link to more at the end. And of course be sure to check out Hataken's website.
