"New! I am happy to announce the WARBL2, which is available as of May 2024 and has many new features and improvements while maintaining the original form factor (it is just 5 mm longer). Improvements include: BLE (wireless) MIDI, an inertial measurement unit (IMU: accelerometer and gyroscope), USB-C, an integrated bell sensor, an RGB LED, a faster ARM® Cortex® processor with much greater storage space, a secondary processor dedicated to reading the optical sensors, higher-resolution pressure-sensor readings, lower power consumption, drag-and-drop firmware upgrades, slightly larger toneholes, and the ability to customize fingering charts completely. There is a NiMH battery that supplies at least 10 hours playing time per charge. Complete documentation is available in the WARBL2 User Manual. The WARBL2 is still completely open source. "I really wanted to explore what is possible when treating the amazing Haken Contiuum as a solo instrument. The range of dynamics and expression it is capable of is unbelievable.

In this performance, I demonstrate several techniques that are only possible to play on a Continuum. I find it especially inspiring when I find harmonies that normally only work when they are spread across an entire orchestra, yet they work beautifully on the Continuum.

There is no other solo instrument on earth that can achieve many of these sounds!

Headphones or speakers are highly recommended. The dynamics and frequency range of this performance are way too broad and detailed for a cellphone.

Continuum voice on the Onde

"Short demonstration of a user defined audio analysis played from a Continuum on an Onde from La Voix du Luthier (audio recording: you can hear the friction noise on the Continuum surface ;-) ).

The original audio sample that was analyzed was kindly provided by Deep Forest (can you guess what song it is coming from ?). It was analyzed with the tools we are currently working on at Haken Audio (demonstrated at last Superbooth) and played realtime as an additive set by the Eagan Matrix (synth engine of the Continuum, also shared with Expressive-E Osmose). Only a very small part of the analysis is used here.

Haken Audio - EaganMatrix Module - Testing Processor Presets

"The HakenAudio Eurorack EaganMatrix module is not only a CV and MPE midi controlled physical modelling synth (supporting many other sound generation models) but also can function as a DSP audio processor. The Module comes with a number of Audio Processing presets in the 'Processor' category that you send Audio to through the L/R Audio input ports. These range from reverb and delays to Karplus Strong and FeedBack Network Delay processing options (many more options will likely be available in future releases and you can easily create your own in the EaganMatrix (certainly a heck of a lot easier than writing your own DSP processing code).

I thought I'd test them all using a filtered, envelope generator shaped noise pulse (which is ideal for some of the Karplus and Delay network examples). Some of them don't do much on a short noise pulse so at the end I run them on constant filtered noise as well.

No talking on this one. Just stepping through the presets sending the noise pulses and then playing with some of the Macro Controls that change various parameters of them in real time - which you can do from the module with the Rotary or through the Haken Editor or using a Midi Controller. But this test is all CV and Audio controlled."

"A single EaganMatrix preset showing one thought out audio processing possibility with the EaganMatrix eurorack module. A mBiraski kalimba is used as the sound source. The EaganMatrix module is the only module used on the audio path. EaganMatrix bespoke controls i, ii, iii, and iv are controlling Time Offset, Tonal Colour, Delay Time, and Delay Feedback, respectively. The mBiraski audio source is captured, looped, sonically altered both destructively and non-destructively, and converted to stereo space through the application of morphable convolution body responses, all within the EaganMatrix module. All external control is through control voltage input from third party sources, documented in the signal flow diagram on the left of the video."
