Known for its iconic design and warm, classic sound, it features a set of pre-programmed patches for quick and easy sound selection. With a compact and portable form factor, it's a favored choice among musicians and synthesizer enthusiasts for creating iconic retro tones reminiscent of the 1970s and 1980s. The Model 102100 is celebrated for its character and simplicity, making it a sought-after collectible in the world of vintage synthesizers.

Sounds weird sometimes, but that may be the sound it's supposed to make."

Pics of the inside below.

"Good News:

The Filter Section works! This is what makes the synth usable and unique. It sounds amazing, and surprisingly rich for a single oscillator.

All keys work.

All parts are original.

Push buttons of Filter Section work and engage when pressed.

Sliders function.

French Horn, Tuba, Sax, and Clarinet work.

It has been cleaned of foam and years of dust.

Excellent physical condition.

Includes plexiglass music stand.

Bad News:

Solar Echo works intermittently, but with pushing the footage buttons, it will come on. I’ll try to show this in the video.

Violin setting volume is too low to be usable.

Sliders are a little resistant and could probably use a cleaning. I’ll leave that up to the new owner, as I rarely moved them anyway.

Small chunk of wood on the side taken out by the Hammond logo.

A small discolored area on the plastic around the Tuning slider.

Scratch on the metal face plate under the Filter Width section."

"Up for bid is a Hammond 102100 Analog Synth. Every key works, every preset works. The volume, tuning and wind sliders work.

Of the 7 button banks, all of them work, electronically speaking, but Tone filters #1,2,5,6 and 7 have to be held down to engage. The springs are properly catching. The same is true of #1-7 of the “Filter rise& fall” speed section.

In total, 12 of the 49 buttons will not stay depressed on their own."

Hammond 102100, Rare Analog Synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Up for auction is a ridiculously rare Hammond 102100 Analog Synthesizer. It is a product of the early 70's and certainly sounds like it, with a huge, thick and powerful sound that only 70's analog synthesizers possess. It is essentially a 1 VCO monosynth with a few presets and a manual (or panel, you could call it) mode where you can customize your patch. There are several footings for saw/square wave, several filter settings, LFO mod of the filter, vibrato, envelopes for both the VCF and VCA, etc. All of the buttons work, as do the keys. It stays in tune extremely well.

It is a bit dirty and is missing the wood side panels. The top of the unit comes off and the various boards can be calibrated/adjusted. It has a 1/4" output on the back of the unit."

"Rare Hammond 102100 Synthesizer
Working and complete with stand and smoked plexi music holder.
Rumored to be one of about 20 still working in the world.
This is the more rare "made in USA" version, not the Hammond Japan built 102200 (which I believe is the very same model just rebadged)
The only issue is the first set of patch buttons does not always want to latch and you need to play with them a bit on certain frequencies. They all work though!"

Video at the auction and previously posted here.

"Up for sale is a very rare Hammond 102100. It is a single oscillator analog monophonic synth made in the mid 70's (1974?) by Hammond Japan. It was originally meant to be a preset synth that would sit atop your Hammond organ. Supposedly there were only 200 ever produced, and there are probably less than 50 in working condition. So I would say it is extrememly rare to find one in this condition. It is much like the other early mono preset synths from the same era: Arp Pro Soloist, Moog Minitmoog, Moog Satellite, Roland SH-1000, Korg Micropreset & Minikorg. All great synths, but this may be the hardest to find.

It is100% functional. All keys work perfectly, no messed up key contacts, sliders move easily, no broken buttons. Very very clean/good physical condition. There is a chip to the wood paneling pictured below. Other than that there is barely a scratch on it.

How it works: There are six factory presets. French Horn, Tuba, Violin, Sax, Clarinet, Solar Echo. These are selectable via the buttons on the right. To the left you have a programming matrix, with buttons for all the functions. The matrix has sections for the following functions: Waveform, octave (3 octave keyboard with 6 octave selectable range), Filter (7 filter envelope positions), Cutoff, 3 Filter Modulations, Envelope, Attack Speed, VCA envelope release, pitch modulation, and vibrato contact delay.

Each button is numbered, so actually remembering a preset is quite easy. You just write down the 7 digit number of all the buttons that were depressed.

Final, but important, note: The power supply is European. It reads 230v 50-60khz 20va. I tested the synth with a basic step up transformer and it worked great."

Hammond 102100 Mono Synth Test

YouTube Published on Jul 26, 2012 by Airabrab

"Hammond 102100 for sale. 100% functional. Very very rare. Supposedly only 200 were ever produced, probably less than 50 in working condition. This video just shows me running through all the keys, switching the presets as I go along. There are six presets. French Horn, Tuba, Violin, Sax, Clarinet, Solar Echo. I press each button on the programming matrix and run through that to show that they all work. The matrix has sections for the following functions: Waveform, octave, Filter, Cutoff, Filter Modulation, Envelope, Attack Speed, VCA envelope release, pitch modulation, and vibrato contact delay. Finally I show the wind, volume, and tuning functions work. Each button is numbered, so actually remembering a preset is quite easy. You just write down the 7 digit number of all the buttons that were depressed. Just a super basic demo to assure that everything is working. Thanks!"

HAMMOND 102100 ANALOG SYNTHESIZER with Case

via this auction
"THIS RARE VINTAGE MONOPHONIC ANALOG SYNTHESIZER (SERIAL # 392214) IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND IN WORKING CONDITION (ONLY AROUND 200 OF THESE WERE EVER PRODUCED!) - AND THIS ONE HAS EVERYTHING. IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY TESTED AND IS IN PERFECT WORKING ORDER. EVERY KEY CONTACT FEELS & WORKS PERFECTLY - AND THIS SYNTHESIZER HAS A PARTICULARLY GREAT & ROCK SOLID, SMOOTH ACTION. ALL BUTTONS, SLIDERS & BOARD CONTACTS HAVE BEEN CLEANED AND ARE FULLY FUNCTIONAL.

PROGRAMMING:
THERE ARE SIX FACTORY PRESETS & ONE MANUAL PROGRAMMING POSITION ON THIS UNIT.

THE SIX PRESETS (FRENCH HORN, TUBA, VIOLIN, SAX, CLARINET & SOLAR ECHO) ARE PERMANENTLY FACTORY-PROGRAMMED PATCHES ACCESSIBLE BY THE COLORED BUTTONS TO THE RIGHT OF THE PROGRAMMER. IN ADDITION TO PROGRAMMING OPTIONS SUCH AS WAVEFORM SELECTION & OCTAVE RANGE, THERE ARE SEVEN FILTER POSITIONS, THREE FILTER CUT-OFF POSITIONS, THREE FILTER MODULATION POSITIONS, AND SEVEN FILTER ENVELOPE POSITIONS. THERE ARE TWO ATTACK SPEED POSITIONS & FOUR TYPES OF VCA ENVELOPE RELEASE. THERE ARE TWO PITCH MODULATION (VIBRATO) SETTINGS & ALSO OPTIONS FOR VIBRATO CONTACT DELAY.

THIS SYNTHESIZER HAS ONE OSCILLATOR WITH CHOICE OF TWO WAVEFORMS - SQUARE & SAWTOOTH. ALTHOUGH IT HAS A THREE-AND-A-HALF OCTAVE / FORTY-FOUR KEY KEYBOARD, IT HAS A SIX-AND-A-HALF OCTAVE RANGE. AS THIS UNIT WAS PRODUCED BY HAMMOND TO SIT ON TOP OF THEIR FAMOUS ORGANS, PROGRAMMING IS MODELED AFTER ORGAN DRAWBARS - THE THEORY BEING THAT ORGANISTS REMEMBER PATCHES BY DRAWBAR NUMBERS. FOR EXAMPLE, "444400200" ON A HAMMOND B3 EQUALS A CERTAIN TYPE OF LEAD SOUND. IT WORKS EXACTLY THE SAME WAY ON THIS SYNTHESIZER - ONCE YOU'VE DESIGNED A SOUND, IT BECOMES VERY EASY TO RECALL USING THIS SAME NUMBER SYSTEM.

THIS IS A VERY SIMPLE, YET SOLID-SOUNDING MONOPHONIC SYNTHESIZER WITH A GREAT KEYBOARD ACTION FROM THE EARLY DAYS OF ANALOG GLORY. IT BELONGS TO THE SAME GROUP OF EARLY MONO PRESET SYNTHESIZERS THAT INCLUDES THE ARP PRO SOLOIST, MOOG MINITMOOG & SATELLITE, ROLAND SH-1000, KORG MICROPRESET & MINIKORG."

Vintage Hammond USA 102100 Synth

via this auction
"Rare Hammond 102100 Monophonic Synthesizer. Made in the USA 1974/1975. YES HAMMOND MADE A SYNTH! This one of less than 50 working synths in the world. It is estimated that Hammond produced only 200 units. This is a fully functioning, complete with stand and smoked plexi music holder monophonic synthesizer... Little info is out there on these units. From what I have found they were probably made by Ikutaro Kakehashi the creator of The Roland Company and Hammond Japan. In 1976ish Hammond Japan made the 102200. Only around 200 units as well. They look exactly the same. Single 1/4" out. No midi. Neat synth. Nice action for 30+ year old vintage gear."
