Friday Freebie – Bit Jockey ARGON8 – Jam

video upload by Modal Electronics

"Use this ARGON8 bit-bashing chip-tune inspired Arp preset that combines some of the new wavetables with 8-bit Derez wave modifiers to add some wild top-end texture to anything you're jamming to. While this preset features a lot of mid and high-frequency texture, there's still just enough low end for you to use it as a primary bass layer, perhaps most effective with a little EQ and compression. The joystick is key when playing Bit Jockey. 2 Different personalities occupy each direction on the Y-axis. Use them for stylish phrasing, breaks, and rhythmic accents. The 8-bit era awaits you.

Friday Freebie Jam – Beyond Böhmer

video upload by Modal Electronics

"A fat pluck right out of Ben Böhmer’s new album released on AnjunaDeep. Beyond Beliefs is a laid back yet euphoric track with a killer fat pluck leading the way. With this patch, you’ll be sounding just like Ben, with some added width from the 2-voices panned for stereo depth. Be sure to use dynamics, as velocity modulations on COBALT8 are primarily what make this sound possible. Push up on the joystick to expand things slightly. Enjoy the melodies and harmonies."

Friday Fun Synth Jam - Argon8, Zoom MS70 CDR, Pittsburgh 3900

Published on May 29, 2020 sonicstate

"Another in our occasional series as we head into our 3rd month of lockdown. This time we're using the Modal Electronics Argon8M with OS2.0, the Pittsburgh Modular MicroVolt 3900, the Zoom MS70 CDR Fx pedal and the ROLI Seaboard Block and the Arturia Keystep. Together with the Retrokits RK006 USB MIDI host/router.

The ROLI is driving the Argon8 via the RetroKits RK006, allowing for direct MPE connection with no computer, the Keystep is running the MicroVolt 3900 which in turn is going into the Modal stereo line in. Argon8 then goes into the Zoom and out."

Modal SKULPT and Micro Freak - Friday Fun Synth Jam

Published on Aug 23, 2019 sonicstate

"We confess, the Modal Electronics SKULPT got hidden behind something else on our instrument racks - it being so small, but we rediscovered it during a long overdue studio clearup. We thought we'd pair it up with the Arturia MicroFreak, stick them both into the Ventris Dual Reverb (a favourite of ours for its routing flexibility and well, the sound)

The Micro Freak is supplying the mono bass sound - has a Chemical Brothers vibe to it we think, and the SKULPT the harmonic pads."
