Korg MS-50 Autoplay #1: part 5/5 | sequential patch #korgms50
video upload by Dr. Kunz
Korg MS-50 Autoplay
"Fifth and last part of a sequential patch with VCO and VCF cross-modulation, combined modulation voltages, rhythmic pulses and two independent audio outputs. Different level settings in the Adding Amplifier can produce a variety of patterns from the combination of two envelope curves and a pulse, displayed on the voltmeter. The remaining free modules can be integrated to further expand the patch complexity.
This video is a fraction of an hour long experiment around this patch, I've shortened and divided it in five parts to make it more accessible. The wiring is presented at the beginning of each video.
Thanks to @IppeiTambata for his inspirational looping machines.
Effects: Yamaha SPX-90II stereo echo, Korg SDD-3000 short modulated delay, some level and eq adjusting on the Mackie 1402.
Recorded with Tascam DR-60 MKII
00:00 start
00:07 movement #5
00:19 wiring list
01:48 pattern variation
02:56 pattern perturbation
04:10 pitch and pattern alteration
05:13 timbre dissolution
05:44 Pac-Man resurrection
06:05 final obsession"

Univox Compac CP110 Synth Piano Keyboard w/ Original Gig Bag Case
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction
This appears to be the first one posted on the site. There was a Compac 2 and CP115B you can find in previous posts here. The case was featured though.
"Stunning, vintage and made in Italy - the Univox CP-110 also known as the Compac Piano. Even the lettering is reminiscent of Pac-Man funnily enough.
This funky vintage keyboard features three presets that are all individually combinable to produce an array of different sounds. There is also a switch to change between a natural release or gated and controlled by the sustain pedal. Add your favorite guitar pedal to this thing and it will murder any digital piano you can find.
All functions are 100%. The volume pot could use some deoxit but other than that there are no issues to be had.
Included is the original, Italian bovine leather bag made just for the CP-110. These are getting hard to come by, and is a great collector’s piece to add to your studio for some vintage flare."

PAC - Custom PAC-MAN Themed Korg Minilogue Love Hultén
video upload by Love Hultén
"Custom-made synthesizers - lovehulten.com"
Note the finish appears to be brushed black. The Minilogue came in original silver and the limited Minilogue PG in black. Both had smooth finishes and both were keyboard models only. The Minilouge XD introduced the desktop module version, which this is not.

Pollard Syndrum 178 demonstration, electronic drum, analog synth
Published on Jan 12, 2016 Carl Wiedemann
"A demonstration of some of the sound capabilities of the Pollard Syndrum 178 electronic drum module, analog synthesizer. This also presents some of the slider and switch issues with this particular unit. The full array of sounds are accessible, but some of the sliders and switches are a bit glitchy. These were manufactured by Pollard in the late '70s. I'm selling this particular unit on Ebay (January 2016). These units were used by many pop/rock musicians in the early '80s. The Cars drummer David Robinson had two Syndrum Quads and eight Syndrum pads can be seen (along with the self-contained Synare pads) in his drum array in videos of live performances."
Classic Pac-Man at 4:18.
via this auction
"Vintage Pollard Syndrum (circa 1978) analog synthesizer, electronic drum module with original pad and (non-original) 22 volt power supply. The unit is generating the full array of sounds (as compared to the two others that I have). The switch for the snare (noise generator) is a bit ornery and it sometimes takes several tries to turn it on or off. The sustain slider for the noise generator is not adjustable (it generates one short burst). This seems to be an issue with these units (I have another Syndrum with the same slider issue and another that won’t generate sound in the #1 position). The sustain slider seems a bit ornery in the low position and it’s difficult to adjust shorter duration sounds. Also: the tune switch audibly crackles when positions are changed. That being said: it is generating the full array of expected sounds. Given the slider issues it may be best used for sampling and recording rather than live performance. The module can be triggered with most drum pads or other external sound device via a quarter inch audio cable. There is quite a bit of cosmetic distress on the exterior of the module, including spots of rust. Most of the slider caps are missing. I’ve posted a video on YouTube which demonstrates the great array of sounds this unit can generate as well as presenting some of the slider and switch issues."

"The bottom white keys are for the normal organ section. They are like the white keys on a keyboard with no sharps for flats. The fun part is the sequencer section. The color pegs are different notes. If you take the pegs out and plug them in you can make various sequences. The two sliders on each side control the speed and the pitch of the sequence. It can go so incredibly fast and high pitched. The only thing I can describe the sound to is Pac-Man.
Some cool things about the Muson Synthesizer..
You can see it in Devo's 'My Baby Gave Me A Suprise' video. Also, it was used in some early recordings by the synth-punk band Crash Course In Science..."

Pac Man Joystick synthesizer
video by YouTube Uploaded by puffhandy on Apr 25, 2011
"This is (was) one of those old video game reproductions that you plug straight into a TV. I gutted it out after deciding I have enough versions of Pac Man to play with, (super pac man really sucks!) And built my own synth! It's another 40106 based synth using four of the six schmitt triggers for main oscillators and one for the Lfo. It has a light sensor for one of the main voices and a "rate" knob for the Lfo speed. I was able to make it run on the original set up of four AA batteries in the compartment underneath and as you can see the blue knob that I use for wintergreen altoidsalmost matches perfectly. It has a 1/4 inch out to plug into any amp or mixer and i used the menu light for power. the menu button works to change the LFO into a swooping triangle instead of a square wave and the red trigger button makes the sound come out."

This is NOT the Graffiti Research Lab
YouTube via ni9e25.
In case you missed it there was a scare in Boston yesterday over these little devices cropping up around the city. They were mistaken for bombs. The officials brought out the bombs squads and blew them up. In actuality they were promo material for "Aqua Teen Hunger." You can read more about it on the excellent Laughing Squid.
To keep this post on topic, I'm curious if anyone knows what sound devices were used for the early arcade coin-op version of Pac Man. I always loved the richness of the sound and it was obviously before the SID. Anyone know if it was analog or digital? Also has anyone done anything new with the old devices? Seems like it would make for a good DIY project.
