Just a Minute - GIVE II VCO melodying
Published on Dec 5, 2019 Stefan Tretau
ST Modular GIVE II posts
Some info on the module via ST Modular
"Give II12 HP Classic Analog VCO with additional Frequency Divider and Waveform Mixing OptionsIt is not a substitution for GIVE I, but rather another version as it is based on the same core circuit. Actually both versions complement each other very well building a powerful complex oscillator. The VCO provides five outputs, the last four of them can be mixed with an integrated mixer: PULSE, SAW, TRIANGLE, 3x PULSE SUB & NOISEPatching a voltage/audio source into FM you can frequency modulate the oscillator. Incoming voltages can be attenuated with FM CV. In the middle of the module you will find the PWM potentiometer. Here you may change the pulse width of the pulse wave. The width may also be controlled via external voltage with the PWM jack and the PWM CV attenuator.Just like all other classic analog VCOs GIVE II also tracks one volt per octave with the help of the 1V/OCT input jack. Each wave can also be hardsynced by an external wave patched to the SYNC jack.In addition to the classic VCO functions GIVE II also provides an integrated frequency divider. The MIX output jack will not only supply the waveforms SAW, TRIANGLE and NOISE, but also provides up to 3 sub octaves derivated from the PULSE waveform. The volume of each suboctave may be adjusted with the potentiometer SUB 1-3. ORIG will adjust the volume of the original PULSE signal. Using the switch ORIG SQU you can flip the SQUARE waveform."

ST Modular - MIA 2x2 Channel Mixer
Published on Feb 6, 2020 Stefan Tretau
via http://www.st-modular.com/mia.htm
Details:
•2x2 Channel Mixer
•Volume Control for each Channel
•2 Channel Fader
•Fader Volume
•Wrong polarity protection
•Skiff friendly
•3U Eurorack module, 5 HP wide
•Power consumption: 35 mA at +12 V and 25 mA at -12 VThe module consists of two boards:
•Front PCB Panel
•Main PCB
MIA 5HP 2x2 Channel Mixer with Fader MIA is a fairly simple, but very handy 2x2 channel mixer with an optional fader output. CH1 & CH2 have two input jacks with VOLUME control potentiometers each. The signals inserted here will be mixed and supplied at the CH1 & CH2 outputs. Simultaneously the signal will be routed to the FADER. The summed signal of channel CH1 & CH2 will be available at the FADE output. Using the Fade potentiometer you may mix the two channels to taste. The overall FADE volume may be adjusted using the FADE VOL potentiometer. If there is a cable plugged into the IN A or IN B jack, the connection of the mixer channels to the FADER is interrupted. Thus you can mix 4 sound sources and fade two additional signals at the same time. Originally this mixer was designed to mix several VCO waveforms with the ability to route each of the mixed signal (from CH1 OUT & CH2 OUT) to external modules, such as effects and filters, and then again mix the externally proccessed signals (using IN A & IN B) to one single output (FADE out) via the fade circuitry. In some cases it might even serve as a stereo mixer.

ST Modular Introduces CV EXPERT (Dual Polarizer, Offset & Gain + LFO, 4HP)
video upload by Stefan Tretau

00:00 Intro
00:05 Features
00:56 Polarizer, Offset, Gain
02:06 LFO Rate
02:36 Voltage Monitor"
CV EXPERT is a very compact yet powerful CV tool that is equipped with all the important functions you need to customise your control voltages. With its internal LFO, it is immediately ready for use without further patching.
CV Expert (Cve) is a versatile dual-channel tool for customizing control voltages.
Its internal LFO is normalised to both inputs and allows you to choose between a triangle or square wave via a jumper on the back. The LFO connection is automatically interrupted when an external CV is inserted. Adjust the LFO rate with the LFO RATE potentiometer.
The signal received at the DC-coupled inputs IN ① and IN ② passes through three CV tools:
Polarizer
The PLRZR potentiometer enables voltage attenuation and inversion.
At the midpoint, the signal is eliminated.
Turning to the right allows the original voltage to pass through (as with an attenuator).
Turning to the left inverts the signal, e.g. positive signals are converted into negative signals.
Offset
Adds or subtracts voltage from/to the passing signal.
OFFSET control determines the offset range.
In the center position, there is no voltage offset. Turning the control to the right shifts the voltage to the positive range, while turning it to the left shifts it to the negative range.
Gain
Amplifies the signal with a maximum gain of 2 at the GAIN control's maximum position, effectively doubling the applied voltage (e.g., +1V becomes +2V, +3V becomes +6V, or +4V becomes +8V).
The voltage is capped at a maximum of +/-10V.

via ST Modular
NATURAL STATE
16HP Dual Enveloped Ducking Filter Natural State consists of two 24b filters with a CV decay envelope and an internal LFO. It is designed to filter two waveforms in the most
ear-friendly way possible to create natural and organic sounding grooves and soundscapes. Each of the two channels has a DECAY slider that adjusts the decay length, an OPEN slider that adjusts the filter cutoff, and a FORCE slider
that adjusts the amount of decay CV that affects the filter. The STRIKE input takes any CV from + 1 volt and triggers the decay envelope. Both the decay and the filter cutoff can be controlled via the CV inputs DECAY and CTRL. Attenuators can be used to change the strength
of the applied CV. The decay attenuator also acts as a DECAY CV offset. A subtle internal LFO can be routed to the filter cutoff, which is attenuated with the CTRL controls. The LFO range is rather slow to create
smooth filter sweeps.
The resonance of the individual filters can be changed with the PEAK potentiometers. When the DUCK control is turned to the right, the decay of the left channel increasingly suppresses the signal of the right channel, creating
a ducking effect.
Both decay envelopes are also routed to the ENV sockets for further external processing.

ST Modular - SUM MIX & PAN (Mix, Pan, Scan, VCA)

"BEST TO LISTEN WITH HEADPHONES!
00:00 All at once!
00:18 Channel per Channel VCA and PAN
02:05 SCAN & SPAN #1
02:54 SCAN & SPAN CV
03:29 VCA & SCAN
04:58 SCAN & SPAN #2"
SUM MIX & PAN
18HP 4-Channel Mixer with VCA, CV PAN and CV SCAN
MIX & PAN completes the ST Modular SUM mixer series with a fully CV-controlled 4-channel mixer. It features
CV PAN, VCA per channel and a CV CHANNEL SCANNER. Each channel has a VOLUME SLIDER and a VOL CV input to control the internal VCA. The panning per channel can be adjusted with the PAN controls or the PAN CV inputs. LEDs indicate the channel volume and the state
of the panning.
All channels are summed and can be tapped at the main output jack. The SCAN and SPAN functions are really the most outstanding features of the module. They provide a unique
way to mix 1 to 4 channels using one or two CV signals applied to the SCAN and/or SPAN CV inputs. The scan functionality allows you to output a selection of channels by turning the SCAN knob or applying CV to the SCAN input. The range of channels that are activated is set manually or by CV using the SPAN knob. This not only narrows down the active channels from all to just one, but also reduces the effect the SCAN CV has
on the VCAs, as if you were shortening their decay time. When both SCAN and PAN are in the centre position and you turn SCAN, you activate one of the four channels at a time. If vou increase SPAN, more of the adiacent channels become audible until all channels have reached maximum volume (from mid to cw position). If vou decrease SPAN again, onlv one scanned channel will be
audible (mid position) and it will then start to fade out shorter (turning from mid to cc position). If a CV signal is present at the SCAN CV input and you turn SCAN to the left, the activated channels are narrowed to the left. Converselv, if vou turn the knob to the right, onlv channels 3 and 4 are activated, and in
the rightmost position, only channel 4. This module is great for creating ever-changing and organic soundscapes throughout the complete stereo
field, making your composition a very varied and a persistently interesting listening experience.

ST Modular - KRAKONG (Duophonic Semi-Modular Sonic Voyager)
video uploads by Stefan Tretau
"KRAKONG is a duophonic generative synthesizer with a sequencer per voice, FM crossover modulation, an additional random modulation sequencer, one multimode filter with VCA, a buffered multiple and a resettable LFO. The design includes a collection of manual controls and connections for patching and CV control.
Each of the unit's two voices consists of a triangle and a square wave oscillator, a shift register sequencer, a decay envelope generator and a filter-based gate. In addition to the two synthesizer voices, which can be manually distributed in the stereo field, a third ring-modulated output of the two voices can be mixed to the main output. The tempo of all sequencers is determined by a clock generator, which can be controlled internally or synchronised externally to any voltage (audio and CV).
This musical instrument has a complete structure that allows for a wide range of sonic possibilities, from rhythmic drum patterns and tamed sonic chaos to textural and rough synth-sounds. The essence of this unit lies in the exploration of the interplay between the elements of the synthesiser, using the three sequencers and filters, manual controls and modulation patch points."

ST Modular - STEREO COMPRESSOR with Boba Fat, HH, Pyxis and Phoebe
Stefan Tretau
„Stereo Compressor“ is a classic analog feedforward compressor, which takes its sidechain split directly from the input signal. It is based on the THAT4305 Analog Engine® single-chip with integrated Blackmer® VCA. It has two independent signal paths in order to process stereo signals. The left input is normalized to the right, if you want to compress mono signals instead. The module has three controls and a switch:
THRESHOLD determins the level at which the compressor starts working. This can be set from -40dB to 20dB.
RATIO sets how much the compressor turns down the volume when the threshold is reached (INF:1 to 1:1).
GAIN regulates the amount of make-up gain (-20dB to +20dB) that is applied to the signal.
Additionally there is an ON/OFF switch that makes it easy to compare the dry and compressed audio signal.
Please note that if you turn THRESHOLD counter-clock wise to the left, you reduce the threshold from 20dB (fully cw) to -40dB (fully ccw). Hence the compressor starts working earlier. If you turn RATIO counter-clock wise to the left you increase the amount of compression from 1:1 (fully cw, no compression) to INF:1 (fully ccw, infinite compression). So turning the knobs down corresponds to compressing the signal. The pictures below show the knobs in a neutral position where no compression is applied.
STEREO COMPRESSOR has a similar design as the STEREO SUM CHANNEL modules. If you want to add some compression to your mix STEREO COMPRESSOR is a perfect addition to your STEREO SUM Mixer.
