Eplex7 DSP releases Replikorp 2249 plug-in instrument for Win / Mac

Published on Jan 13, 2020 Eplex7 DSP

Update: new demo video:

Eplex7 DSP Replikorp 2249 VSTi / AU plug-in retro futuristic instrument with sci-fi analog sounds

"Eplex7 has released Replikorp 2249 plug-in, futuristic sci-fi instrument with vintage analog / early-digital sounds, modular analog sounds, experimental, atmospheric sounds, pads, textures, FXs, soundscapes with vintage dirt and analog dust / noise but with futuristic atmosphere.

This retro futuristic plug-in instrument is compatible with MAC & Windows / VSTi / AU / Mac VST, x32 / x64bit.

The sounds are perfect for Cinematic Film music / Video Game music, various styles of electronic music: (Intros / Outros for various styles of music, Psytrance, Psycore, Hitech, Darkpsy / Forest, Drum & Bass, Techno, EBM, Industrial, Electro, Witch house, Hardcore, Neurofunk, Synthwave, Retrowave,) to Ambient, Science fiction, Horror music, Experimental and more.

In 1981 one insane, but very talented amateur musician from USSR with ability to see future had a dream. The dream of future in year 2249. People stopped working with hands, almost all work was done by automation, robots. People worked just with their brains, most of economy was moved to weird computer network (later called internet) and digital services because nature was damaged by factory overproduction, global heating and so. Difference between rich and poor people was bigger and bigger, rich people afraid of going outside because of smog, waste, radiation from exploded power plants and gangs of poor criminals. While most of human work was automated, it wasn’t possible to fully automate some kind of jobs, rich people needed assistants, babysitters and serious workers. Intelligent people were extremely lazy and poor people didn’t have skills to do precise work. After year 2220, after approval by the corrupt government, leading genetic company started producing real human clones/assistants which were sold to rich families and companies. These clones had modified DNA, but were still human slaves. Richest people wanted to escape from this dark world full of contaminated nature, smog, waste, unhealthy food produced in laboratory and poor anarchists in streets, they dreamed of colonizing Mars, but after many unsuccessful attempts government stopped this expensive project. This was dark, but realistic night dream / prophecy of musician and clairvoyant Alexander. When Alexander woke up, he was dazed. This dream was disaster. The only way to deal with it was to start making musical story to warn civilization. Firstly he started writing storyboard and preparing sounds for his futuristic soundtrack. He was very talented and innovative amateur music producer, electronic engineer developing first computers in his daily job. He created sounds, samples and presets for this soundtrack with analog modular synthesizers, early digital fm synths and his own computer algorithms which were fully futuristic at that time, he used analog tapes and first 12 bit recorders to record his sounds. He was totally obsessed with making this soundtrack, he understood his music as a mission for humanity. After few weeks he quit his daily job to fully focus on music production and writing storyboard (had problems with government because it was illegal to be unemployed in USSR). But one day he get lost...Nobody don’t know where…maybe it was KGB secret police because his ideas and opinions were dangerous for USSR, or he was closed at psychiatric hospital. After few decades his daughter found tapes and diskettes with his sounds/samples. She sold them to us, we remastered it and bringing you this weird combination of vintage and futuristic madness!

OP-1 synth track expanded in Ableton with UVI and Samples From Mars

Published on Nov 28, 2019 Synth & Sundry

"A few weeks ago, I made a track with the OP-1 (OP-1 synth sounds and initial track idea with cats is the first part of this adventure). This video shows what happens after pulling the OP-1 track stems into Ableton Live and then reinforcing the composition with sounds from the UVI Digital Synsations collection which captures the spirit of the late 80s/early 90s Rompler synths from the likes of Roland, Kawai, and Ensoniq. There are also sounds from the always excellent Samples From Mars.

The first half of the video looks at the sounds I added to the arrangement with Ableton Live and the second half is a music video with the finished track.

Note: I am not sponsored or supported by these brands. All instruments were bought or downloaded using my own funds or on my own initiative. All opinions are my own.

Holst Planets MARS Kronos DeepMind 6 Jupiter-8 Juno-106 Synthesizer Music Rik Marston

Published on Jan 4, 2019 SynthgodXXX

"Gustav Holst - The Planets - MARS - The Bringer of WAR
Korg Kronos - Behringer DeepMind 6 - Reverb Roland Synth
Collection Sample Pack Jupiter-8 Juno-106 Samples
Synthesizer & Sample Demo by Rik Marston
**Watch in HD** **Turn it UP!**

MIDI FILE FRIDAY
This is my favorite Gustav Holst work from "The Planets",
I used the Korg Kronos using the Reverb Roland Synth
Collection Sample Pack Jupiter-8 Juno-106 Samples.
The Behringer DeepMind 6 I used patch "Lost Verb" for
the deep analog space drone. There are some serious
pitch jumps, using samples in classic works can be very
tricky, so PLEASE CLASSICAL WIZARDS BE KIND. This is
a synthesizer adaptation AND WAS VERY HARD TO DO!
Anyways, it's the 2019 Blade Runner Dream Sequence Mix.
(Not really but it just turned 2019 & I'm a Sci-Fi geek!)
I love the combination of Roland Juno-106 & Jupiter-8
Samples, I used Juno-106 "106 Impact" & "JP8 Mode Brass"
Sweep sample is "JP8 Shriekback" for those 80's LUSH
Sweeps! ;) My FAVORITE!
Thank you for watching!"

2. Patlabor 2 AMV - From Soft Power To Unjust Peace
A futile exercise in relaxation combining a lethargic dance jam with scenes from Mamoru Oshi's movie Patlabor 2 which, amongst other things, ruminates on the notion that developed countries exist in a state of 'unjust peace'. Set in a near future Tokyo, where computer networks and large machines called "Labors" have lead to unprecedented economic prosperity, a terrorist attack is not all that it seems.

Elektron Releases 2323 - Roland X0X Based Sample Pack

"The X0X series of drum machines are all nothing short of legendary: the cream of the crop of analog drum machines, and the core of so much of the music we all love. Naturally you want to fill your Digitakt with samples of these fine machines, so we teamed up with Samples from Mars to bring you a massive collection of freshly sampled delights.
Samples from Mars used their entire collection of 909’s, 808’s, and 606’s (including a modified one) recorded in various ways (tape, MPC60, SP1200, or digitally). Combine that with multi-sampled groups with varying degrees of each sound’s parameters tweaked, and vari-speed tape-pitched hits, this is one seriously versatile Sound Pack."

Spitfire Introduces BT PHOBOS Polyconvolution Synthesizer

Published on Mar 31, 2017 Spitfire Audio

Spitfire Presents - BT Phobos Feature
Spitfire Presents: BT Phobos
In Action: BT PHOBOS Trailer Music
Spitfire Walkthrough: BT Phobos
In Action: BT Phobos Basics

"BT PHOBOS Polyconvolution Synthesizer sees Spitfire Audio aiming for the stars with notable namesake co-creator

LONDON, UK: Spitfire Audio, purveyors of the finest virtual instruments from the finest musical samples in the world, is proud to announce availability of BT PHOBOS — conceived in close collaboration with notable namesake American composer (The Fast And The Furious, Monster, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider) and electronica pioneer BT (Brian Transeau) as a must-have Polyconvolution Synthesizer for any AAX-, AU-, VST-, and VST3-supporting DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), and lending itself to writing cinematic electronic, epic, and hybrid compositions, courtesy of its liquid, morphing, and transformational convolution capabilities — as of April 13...

All of which begs some serious questions: what, exactly, is BT PHOBOS? One of Mars’ moons, maybe? A synthesizer? A tool for creating colossal cinematic and electronic rhythms? An engine for endless spectral combinations of wide, lush pads and ambiences with propulsive rhythmic figures? Is it a sound library of an astronomical vintage synthesizer collection, bespoke beats, field recordings, live acoustic and orchestral treatments, micro-rhythms, percussion, and textures? Truth be told, that’s just scratching its stellar surface — inspiration-wise or otherwise!

On the face of it, at its core BT PHOBOS is, indeed, a synthesizer — albeit a soft synth based on the unexplored precept of polyconvolution as a synthesis engine. Extraordinarily adept American audio engineer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, and technologist BT came up with the idea many moons ago when working with sound design — polyconvolution... as a synthesizer. So what, exactly, does that mean? Well, what it means is: instead of using convolution — a piece of software (or algorithm) that creates a simulation of an audio environment — for reverb or modelling an amplifier’s distortion circuit, why not make a ‘reverb’ impulse response tonal? Why not, indeed. In fact, BT did just that, and, in doing so, found that combining something rhythmical with something tonal (as an impulse response) yielded some of the most modern, liquid, and percolating responses he had ever encountered — exactly the kind of sounds he had been searching for while scoring music for films and games... those elusive sounds suited to satisfying the most demanding directors’ wishes. Words like, “Movement and a feeling of drive, yet subtly...” need no longer prove problematic — thanks to BT PHOBOS!

BT brought a whole new musical meaning to the ‘Special Relationship’ between the United Kingdom and United States by working in close collaboration with Spitfire Audio to combine over 20 GB of his own personal bespoke libraries into a tonal engine, enabling BT PHOBOS users ultimately to filter, pulse, rhythmically cut, and sculpt impulse responses that are harmonic, melodic, and tonal. Then play them polyphonically.

Put it this way: one of the most significant solutions BT PHOBOS provides is giving composers an ability to engage their audiences for extended sequences and cues without sounding repetitive or ‘loopy’. Leaning on an all-new, realtime interface interaction allows BT PHOBOS users to evolve, transform, and warp their molecular musical patterns according to nuanced changes within a scene.

So since BT PHOBOS cleverly challenges the convention of loops, tones, and how they are used in a convolution, central to its operation is a beautiful bespoke GUI (Graphical User Interface) implemented to cultivate creativity through fostering familiarity. Which is why, when clicking on the name of any (sound) SOURCE or CONVOLVER, users are greeted by exactly the same browser. Better still, users can automate many of the powerful and unique controllers central to the BT PHOBOS vision. Which is why modulation MAPPINGS — the way in which functions are mapped and then ‘modulated’ (or changed) in realtime or automated via controllers — are key to many presets, and applied both to SOURCE/CONVOLVER. Cutting-edge sound source advanced controls (to further adapt each SOURCE, such as ATTACK, DECAY, SUSTAIN, and RELEASE; START OFFSET; FILTERS; and GATES) and convolution advanced controls (to further adapt each CONVOLVER and its impulse response — similar to SOURCE controls, providing the same functionality for each CONVOLVER) carry creative composers into an almost limitless inspirational musical well... well, there are actually 90 sextillion-plus combinations of sounds, so inspiration is guaranteed to never run dry!

If — like BT before you — you are on a musical mission to explore strange new sound worlds... to boldly go where no composer has gone before, be assured that BT PHOBOS pushes compositions into emotional, evocative, expressive, and truly new voyages of discovery like no other soft synth plug-in that has gone before it."

via this auction

via the seller: "pristine Voyetra-8 analog synthesizer. Serial # FJ4824. I am the original owner and purchased this around 1983 at Manny's Music in NYC from synth guru Rick Stevenson. I owned two of these awesome machines and sold one last year to a satisfied eBayer (check my feedback) and am selling the remaining unit. This has never travelled outside my smoke free studio. As per the other synth, I had this completely serviced (mid March 2017), tuned and calibrated by Analog Labs by Jeff B, one of the original techs who built and serviced these back in the day. I also had Jeff build me two new MIDI-XLR cables needed to connect etc this to DAWs or live racks. I also have all the original documentation, though I would recommend getting the editor librarian software "Midi Quest" from squest.com as this makes navigating the multi page operating system easier. I am also supplying a photo from the Samples From Mars website who sing the praises of this transparent synthesizer which they recently sampled. They also sent their unit into Analog Labs for service and calibration."

Roland SH-5 Samples from Sample From Mars

samplesfrommars.com/products/sh5-from-mars

"The top line of the revolutionary Roland SH series is rarely talked about, yet it includes some of the most powerful synthesizers of all time. There's the SH-101, SH1, SH-3A, SH-7... the list goes on. And while these synths are all excellent sounding in their own right, the SH-5 is undoubtedly the King, with its huge oscillators, multimode filters, extensive modulation possibilities and a brilliant mixer at the heart of it all. In our opinion, the SH-5 is one of Roland's greatest mono synths of all time."

the SPACE CASE tape echo

Playlist:
1. SPACE CASE Tape Echo Demo Series - 3 - SYNTHS - Arpeggiation Character and Oscillation (Roland SH-101)
2. SPACE CASE Tape Echo Demo Series - 2 - DRUM MACHINES - Feedback Rhythms from Spaced Hits (brand new 808 and 909 samples by the venerable Samples from Mars in Brooklyn NY)
3. SPACE CASE Tape Echo Demo Series - 1 - VOCALS - Traditional Use and Explorations (Bob Marley solo vocal)

"The Space Case is a new tape echo for the modern vintage workflow. Each is hand made in limited batches in New York at The Center for Memory and Control. The machine operates at line level, and the sound can be described as being a combination between the original slap machines hooked up to consoles in the 50's (the original echo invention) and the classic Hi-Z devices from the 60's and 70's. It is inherently well suited for things like synthesizers, drum machines, and other unbalanced line level musical instruments and equipment. Hi-Z/Guitar and Balanced Line connectivity can be added (see features).

- Six time ranges
- a line level insert TRS jack for adding external processing of the echo/feedback path (i.e. using a synth or any other device to add resonance, more eq, and any other shaping you want)
- A time adjust knob for a wide sweep within each range
- Powerful feedback with plenty of self oscillation
- Echo tone
- Independent echo and dry output level
- Opamp overdrive at the output stage that can be applied to dry, echo, or any blend of both. (you can use the machine as a distortion unit with no tape/echo involved)
- Classic "playback and record" operation with speed differences. The machine is designed to be able to go down to near dead stop, so one can create extreme changes in analog tape fidelity and timing by recording at one speed and playing back in another. Feedback, tone, and speed/time can be performed live and recorded/played back with further tone and speed changes.
- A small loud speaker that is driven by the same opamp overdrive, effectively giving you a small but saturated and strong sounding "guitar amp" with whatever signal you're using
- A VU meter!
- 1/4" TS in and out
- Optional HI-Z/Guitar/Instr breakout pedal with a Crimson transformer, true bypass footswitch and a bonus DI function
- Optional transformer balanced XLR Line I/O with two Crimson transformers
