New Division 6 Mr. Crotchety Eurorack Module

via Division 6

"Um... Wut? Why in tarnation does that Eurorack module have a smiley face on it?

At its heart, Mr. Crotchety is a random voltage generator. ...only it's not really random. This module has moods. I'd love to explain how to use it, but during development it's become increasingly clear that it is just going to do whatever it wants. Controls? Ha! Mr. Crotchety was having none of that nonsense, so we ended up removing them all. If you mess with it enough you can alter its disposition to some extent, which does make for some interesting live performances, but mostly you can forget about it.

This module is useful wherever you need a touch of uncertainty and cantankerousness.

Specifications:

Power supply: +/- 12 VDC (reverse-polarity protected!)
Power draw: Whatever it feels like drawing
Width: 4HP
Depth: Your face
Inputs: Nope
Outputs: Yup, there's one.
Controls: Good luck with that.

Includes:
Mr. Crotchety
Doepfer-style Power Cable
(2) M3 x 6mm Rack Screws w/ Nylon Washers

Coming November 1, 2013. Probably."

Four Analog Delays

Four Analog Delays from surachai on Vimeo.
"I received my Electro-Harmonix Deluxe memory man today (July 3rd 2008) and thought I would get it used to the walls of sound it'll be a part of. I just send a single signal from the cwejman and tested feedback on all the units.
The signal flow is as follows: Cwejman VM-1 (source) into Doepfer A-188-2 Tapped BBD Module into Ibanez AD9 into Moog MF104z into Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man"

Merry SYNTHMAS and Happy Holidays to All from MATRIXSYNTH!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone! I hope you are all having a great holiday season. One thing we all have in common of course are our synths!

As has become tradition here on MATRIXSYNTH, I like to share a few festive pics of some gear I picked up throughout the year. This year was a bit low key, but I did manage to score a super nice Moog Sub Phatty, a much needed iConnectivity iConnectAUDIO4+, and a Division 6 VM, along with some goodies from The Bob Moog Foundation. Not pictured is a synthesizers.com modular puzzle currently waiting under the tree for my daughter. :)

As always, today should be a pretty relaxing day on the site as I spend time with my family. I will be off and on throughout the day posting holiday themed items that come in, so do check back.

I want thank all of the readers who enjoy MATRIXSYNTH and make running the site more than worthwhile! I run MATRIXSYNTH solely for my love of synths, and it is more than rewarding knowing that others out there appreciate it.

I want to send a special shout out to all of the sponsors featured above and on the right of the site for all of their support, and I want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to all my Patreon supporters that signed up to directly support MATRIXSYNTH. You all make running this site possible!

Happy Holidays Everyone!

cheers,
matrix

Update: added a pic of synthesizers.com puzzle, along with another surprise under the tree - a cool nanoblock keyboard! There were a few extra pieces so I added a few knobs. :)

Be sure to check out the holidays channel for more!

Oregon Scientific WAV DJ Model VM 108

"Used Oregon Scientific WAV DJ Musical Sound Generator Synthesizer. This music sound generator appears to be in very good condition with headphones and connection cables/wires. It does not come with the software. I don't know where to download the operating software but I saw on the Internet that some people claim to have done so."

Kawai K1r Rackmount Digital Synthesizer

video upload by Alfonse

"You can support the creating of these videos by buying the music: https://alfonse.bandcamp.com/album/ka...

All sounds in this track came from the K1r, including the drums. There are a few custom patches in here as well, which are available to download from https://www.alfonsemusic.com/Patches/

The Kawai K1r (1988) is a rack mount version of the K1 synth which uses Kawai's "VM additive synthesis tone generator", with a selection of 256 basic waveforms, including 52 PCM samples. Building a sound involves mixing up to four of the waveforms, with the ability to add ring modulation as well, but as with so many digital units of the time, it's a slow process diving through the detailed menus on that small LCD screen.

Fortunately, there's a VST available from Nils Schneider that's very close to the original sound (some envelopes sound a little different on my K1r compared to the virtual instrument) - you can find it here: https://www.nilsschneider.de/

"This video is a demonstration of the Flame Clockwork module. The only parameters which are being changed during the session on the clockwork are the quantization of the three channels.
The module is triggering a Cwejman VM-1 and a Doepfer A-112 Sampler via CV/Gate as well a a Rob Papen Blue synthesizer and an Waldorf Attack Drumsynth via Midi."
