grandmother talks to aliens

Published on Apr 26, 2019 once upon a synth

"This is a continuous 20+ minute experimental improv with the Moog Grandmother being sequenced by an Analogue Solutions Oberkorn MK3. Patch info below.

Patch info (OB = Oberkorn, GM = Grandmother):
OB gate out to GM env trig
OB CV A to GM pitch
OB CV B to GM VCF
OB CV C to GM LFO rate

The rest is just tweaking parameters on the fly. No external effects were used. I recorded the GM's output directly."

Valhalla Delay + Moog Grandmother demo

Published on Apr 24, 2019 once upon a synth

"Demo of the new ValhallaDSP delay VST plugin which features many emulations like BBD and tape as well as some crazy fx, pitch shifting and even some reverb-sounding delays. I'm using the Moog Grandmother as the sound source and a Novation LaunchPad to control the parameters of the delay. No other effects or processing was used. Just straight grandma into the delay."

Making ambient music using only the Moog Grandmother synth

Published on Dec 4, 2018 once upon a synth

"Making an ambient song from scratch using only one synth (Moog Grandmother). I try to keep things very minimal and sparse and resist my urge to add melodies and chords 😂. The music is composed to some mountain pixel art I made the other day. #onesynthchallenge

Get the song on Spotify/iTunes/etc: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/cit...

Brian Eno coined the term 'ambient music' and I'd definitely recommend listening to his "Music for Airports" album for a good example of ambient music."

Making a song using only the Moog Grandmother synth

Published on Nov 12, 2018 once upon a synth

"I decided to do a challenge where I make a song using only one synth (Moog Grandmother in this case). I have to use it for drums, basses, leads, pads, etc. I added some vocals at the end, but that's the only thing that isn't from the Grandmother. Stay tuned til the end to hear the final song."

Moog Grandmother vocal vowel talking synth tutorial

Published on Oct 3, 2018 once upon a synth

"This is a patch making tutorial for how to make some really strange vowel/vocal/talking synth type sounds. We're not going after a specific sound and we're obviously not trying to get full words out of the synth, but this is a fun way to get general vocal-ish sounds out of your synth. The main thing here is the audio-rate modulation of the filter cutoff."

Moog Grandmother meets Moogerfooger delay pedal

Published on Sep 25, 2018 once upon a synth

"Running a Moog Grandmother synth through the MF-104M moogerfooger analog delay pedal. This is a sound demo, no talking. Disclaimer: I think my BBD chips are starting to give, some of the sounds you'll hear are a bit dirtier and aren't stock on the MF-104M."

Bach Goldberg Variations Aria with Synthesizers

Published on Sep 19, 2018 once upon a synth

"Playing Bach's Goldberg Variations Aria with two synthesizers (Moog Grandmother and Korg Mono/Poly). This is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. I cannot do it justice with my playing, but I love it enough that I decided to try. To get a true sense of the piece I urge you to listen to Glenn Gould's 1981 recordings."

Moog Grandmother Overview & Tour

Published on Sep 10, 2018 once upon a synth

"Let's go over each module on the Moog Grandmother and explain what the knobs and jacks do. The Grandmother is a new analog monophonic semi-modular synth from Moog. It has 2 analog oscillators, a low pass filter, spring reverb, ADSR envelope generator, an LFO (with sample and hold), mult, high pass filter, arpeggiator and sequencer.

In this video I'll start off with the audio signal path modules and then move onto to the utility/modulation modules."
