Roland Jupiter 6 and DSI Tempest downtempo electronic track

"Here's a quick track I made using the Roland Jupiter 6 and a drum loop I made on the DSI Tempest. I had about 45 minutes to do this - so it's a bit rough around the edges. But to make this track I used the Split-1 mode on the Jupiter with two separate patches.

It's kind of fun to use, but I see it as a live sort of thing, kind of finding two patches that work well and then just jamming with it rather than using it in general. So I probably won't use it often. I like to have the whole panel as one patch. Anyway, it's Valentine's Day - so hopefully you have something fun to do - or you had something fun to do, whether it's by yourself or with someone else. I am going to go hang out with my wife.

I started this last fall and never finished it. I was going to add drums, bass, maybe some sequencing/arpeggiations, and I even made a futile attempt at singing the vocals but no amount of editing could save it! 🤦‍♂️😅😊 So for Valentine's Day I decided to just put together the last third with just the tongue drums and Mellotron.

It is a clone of the Roland TB-303 Bassline sound generating circuits plus a keyboard for playing enjoyment and a "TEMPO" LFO for triggering the gate and modulating the filter. Buttons and switches for turning on/off the accent and slide. Switches for Gate-On, TEMPO to Gate, SPEAKER ON/OFF, POWER ON/OFF and WAVEFORM SAW/SQUARE. Knobs for TEMPO, TUNING, CUT OFF FREQ, RESONANCE, ENV MOD, DECAY, ACCENT, TEMPO MOD, and VOLUME. 1/4 inch jacks for AUDIO IN (to filter), CV IN, GATE IN, ACCENT IN, SLIDE IN, and AUDIO OUTPUT. It takes a 9V DC adapter or 6 AA batteries. It has a built-in speaker. Sounds great plugged into an amplifier! Excellent through distortion pedals too! Comes with handmade carry bag and a guitar strap. batteries included."

Update: some more info: "The case was a Casio SA-20 keyboard I found at Goodwill. I modified the headphone/speaker circuit board to be louder/better sounding. Then I hand-soldered prototype boards to create the audio generating circuits of the TB-303. I used some different parts than the original, increased the resonance so it can self-oscillate, added an LFO to trigger the Gate and modulate the filter, and added a circuit to make the keyboard work."

next up, we are going to do the couples love duets for valentine's day. and a movie we made bits of muz for is hitting some festivals. and i'm in it. singing. and i might be helping a friend with his puppet opera. perhaps playing or singing or doing voice parts... this is going to be an interesting year.

also i am going to grow my hair out. but i may keep it brown. it's mellow and easy like sunday morning.

also wes is getting good at raquetball and is turning into the incredible shrinking man.
