Evaton Technologies SDIY MDRONE

Published on Oct 25, 2015 Russ Hoffman

http://www.evatontechnologies.com/

"The Evaton Technologies SDIY MDRONE will be available in November. This video demonstration shows the powerful standalone drone synth that YOU build! Just in time for the holiday season, the SDIY MDRONE makes the perfect gift for the DIY'er in your family, or buy one for yourself! PCB + Parts kit available in November, with a pre-drilled, case with legend available soon after. (Video shows a clear pencil box case as an example of a case you could build yourself).

The SDIY MDRONE consists of 3 square wave oscillators and a bandpass filter with adjustable center frequency and bandwidth. The filter can be overdriven for a grittier sound. Simple thru-hole construction can be completed in as little as a single evening.

Operation from a single 9V battery allows hours of tweaking. Use the SDIY MDRONE alone, or with external effects for maximum fun. And, best of all, you can take pride in having built it yourself!

Detailed assembly manual has step-by-step instructions, and, for educational customer, also includes a discussion of the basic circuit theory."

The Everything ARP Symposium Coming to Berklee College of Music

via Berklee

"David Friend Recital Hall

921 Boylston Street, Boston, MA, 02115, United States

The David Friend Recital Hall.

The Electronic Production and Design Department announces the 2015 Everything ARP Symposium. The panelists for the event will be founder Alan R. Pearlman and former ARP employees, industry representatives, scholars, musicians, and producers.

ARP Instruments, active from 1969 to 1981, was a pioneering company in the development of the electronic musical instrument industry. The ARP 2600 and ARP Odyssey helped define the sound of pop and jazz fusion music from that time, with major artists such as the Who, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, and George Duke using ARP instruments to develop their signature sounds. This symposium will serve as a forum to discuss how these important instruments were developed, marketed, and used by artists. With software emulations of the 2600 and Odyssey, and Korg's recent release of a new hardware version of the Odyssey, the early achievements by ARP Instruments remain relevant to contemporary artists.

-CALC- takes Novation Circuit to meet some new friends and they JAM LIVE

Published on Oct 25, 2015 -CALC-

"The Novation CIrcuit has fast become one of my favourite things.... it's an instrument, it's a workstation, it's simply the quickest and most fun way to make electronic music anywhere. I've been using it a lot on it's own and it is a very capable device used this way.

Now that I've had it at home for a few days though it makes perfect sense to fit Circuit into the studio and use it the way I really want to. Of course Circuit feels right at home in this set-up straight away too.

This video is a Sunday evening fully live jam after a nice lazy weekend. It's pretty long but visits a few different places musically... not least the self-indulgent psychedelic live keys wig out roughly 3/4s of the way through resulting from running the Roland JX-3P through a Sherman Filterbank 2.
Circuit is running all of the way through and glues the piece together well.

Here's what was used:
Novation Circuit
Novation Bass Station 2
Roland JX-3P
Elektron Octatrack (With Novation Launch ControlXL mapping)
Elektron Analog RTYM
Elektron Analog Keys
Moog Voyager
Roland SH101
Roland RE-150 Space Echo
Strymon Big Skies
Sherman Filterbank 2
Allen and Heath Zed R16
Expert Sleepers USAMO
Ableton Live (as a big 30 track tape recorder)
