"For a spooky Halloween night, a tribute to a dystopian classic and my own arrangement of the great John Carpenter’s theme featuring five overdubbed tracks of the mighty Memorymoog Plus synthesizer. I am the winner of the Bob Moog Foundation's 2017 summer raffle, and will never be able to thank the Bob Moog Foundation enough...all my gratitude. More video to come!"

button."

A new make on the site featured on Halloween!

via ELECTRIC TONE

"Designed to give a lot of fonctionalities into a small package(16HP). The Synthi Biscuit incorporates the usual needed fonctions (LFO, sample and hold, random noise, sequencer ect...) and more. It offers 10 different algorythms into 3 sub-units to sauce up your travel into the modular world. A sub-module consists of 2 parameters, a gate input, an analog output, a display and a selection button.

No magic trick, no special button combo. To access the different fonctions, click the algo button to browse through the algorythms. The parameters knobs allow changes in the fonctions you're using, they have different roles depending on the mode (speed lfo, gate time, random factor ect...).

synthi-biscuit responds to all Eurorack criterias on power supply(12V/0V/-12V), power connector (2X8), and signal levels."

Published on Oct 31, 2017 Power DX7

"Power DX7 Halloween Special - Halloween Night At The Adelaide Zoo, located in South Australia, Australia

As I went to a family fun event at the Adelaide Zoo, I created DX7 Halloween music for the Halloween Night.

This video was filmed using a brand new Sony 4K pro video camera. Yes, Power DX7 now goes to 4K! I used Final Cut Pro for 4K video editing.

The Adelaide Zoo has a lot of both Australian animals and animals from around the world. They do a lot of conservation work as well.

The link to the Adelaide Zoo website.

Introducing iOptigan! An Optigan for your iPad / iPhone In Collaboration with Stefan Stenzel of Waldorf

Published on Oct 31, 2017 optigandotcom

"In collaboration with Stefan Stenzel of Waldorf, we’re proud to announce iOptigan! It’s an Optigan on your iPad or iPhone, complete with all 40 original discs (25 included with app purchase, an additional 15 via in-app purchase) and all the scratchy lo-fi character and playability quirks of the original. What we didn’t include is all the headaches that tend to go along with the flaky old hardware!

As shown in the video above, you can setup iOptigan with a MIDI keyboard to approximate the playing experience of a real Optigan (chord buttons on the iPad, keys on the keyboard), but there are also additional ways to control iOptigan via MIDI as well as on screen. iOptigan faithfully emulates the unique playback characteristics of the Optigan, ie the “constant loop” of both the chord section and the keyboard. You also get tempo, reverb and balance controls that also behave as the original hardware."

iTunes: iOptigan - Stefan Stenzel

"This is the Optigan for iOS.

The Optigan, short for Optical Organ, was a chord organ from the early 1970’s. It is remembered today for its unique system of sound reproduction using optical discs. These LP-sized film discs were optically encoded with 57 concentric tracks, which contained loops of musical combos playing chord patterns in different styles. Each disc contained a specific style of music (Bossa Nova, Big Band etc) which the user could control by pressing the chord buttons. Changing the discs was as simple as putting a new record on your turntable. Think of it as the 1971 version of GarageBand.

Despite this novel technology, the scratchy sound of the Optigan left a lot to be desired.

The iOptigan we present here truthfully recreates that lo-fi sound.

25 of the original 40 discs are included, the remaining 15 can be purchased individually or all together in the Complete Pak.

Specifications and Features:
• Disc loading rigth-side-up or upside-down
• Spring Reverb (virtual)
• Optical Metronome
• Audio Demo for each Disc
• MIDI in/out
• MIDI chord detection
• MIDI File Import
• Sequencer with Record and Playback
• Sharing for songs as Audio and MIDI File
• iTunes File Sharing
• Inter-App Audio
• Smart background audio
• Help overlay
• Headphone optimised stereo (optional)
• Radio Mode for Chord Buttons or Keyboard
• Comfortable speed control in semitones or BPM"

Batchas - Remember

"It’s been a long time since I wanted again a MIDI-to-CV converter. Got it today, added to it bananas and made an impro on the Serge Paperface.
One take. Direct stereo outs and then reverb added in Logic.

The patch can be seen here:

The played notes we hear come from 2 oscillators: the NTO (variable output) goes to the Variable Bandwidth Filter (VCF2), the PCO (sine output) goes to the Wave Multipliers.

VCF2 and Wave Multipliers give this string touch to the sound.

Outputs on the MIDI-to-CV interface:
GATE goes to ADSR - ADSR OUT goes into VCAs.
CV goes to 1V/oct input on both oscillators.
Pitch Bend goes to VC F on both oscillators.
Velocity goes to VC F on Variable Bandwidth VCF.

I love these moments, when the instrument is simultaneously translating in sound my feelings and what is happening in my mind. Like remembering an early existence…"
