Synthesizers.com Introduces the TB22++ Thought Box 22-Space Synthesizer System

via synthesizers.com

"The Thought Box TB22++ is a 22-space synthesizer with 3 oscillators, a Q960 Moog-style sequencer, and an incredible array of modules in a rugged, fold-able cabinet. The folding cabinet is built like a tank and includes cable storage and a fold-out cable holder. TB22++ includes a power supply and a generous complement of color-coded, low-profile patch cables. Yes, you can close the system without removing your patch."

Note the built-in case handle.

"TB22++'s folding enclosure offers a brushed-aluminium handle. Turn the sleeves on the ends of the handle to unlatch and unfold the system in one easy step.

At the bottom of the enclosure is a channel holding the power supply along with storage for the patch cables. The channel's cover unfolds into a cable holder.

Module functions include: MIDI converter, arpeggiator, slew-limiter/portamento, three oscillators each with EG and VCA, gate math, sample & hold, noise with low-pass filter, sine/square LFO, dual envelope generator, state variable filter with VC resonance, 4-channel mixer with signal processing, VCA with panning, tuner and headphone amplifier, 8x16 step sequencer with trigger I/O, sequential switch, 3-channel quantizer.

Use TB22++ with any MIDI source such as a MIDI keyboard or a computer, or play it with the controls.

The two Box11 cabinets provide 4 groups of multiples and the Q175A module provides multiples for pitch and gate.

Folding enclosure with rugged hardware and a built-in power system. Goes anywhere.

Low-profile, color-coded patch cables included. See more about these.

The TB22++ is a Moog-Unit (MU) format synthesizer using 1/4" patch cables (included)."

Some menu diving on the Roland D-05 for those curious about how to edit one.

"In this video I go over some settings in the D-05 and walk you through where and how to program the new Roland D-05. I have created a custom patch called 'Mosey On Mack' and I walk through some of the basic parameters that I adjusted to make this patch from scratch."

Perfect Patch - Live No DAW Jam #19

Published on Nov 28, 2017 Jay Hoskins

"Title: Perfect Patch
Genre: Electronic Downtempo
Artist: Rite Rain Causality - Jay Hoskins

Played live and recorded directly from the stereo mixer outputs.

This was a short piece I put together for a recent contest by Perfect Circuit. Entries were posted to Instagram so there was only a minute to work with. It was hard to do something in a minute and there were more modulations to explore than would fit, not to mention that It is pleasant just to let it run.

In this performance the circuit is on the sidelines and I'm using the LFO on the Studio Electronics Tonestar 2600 for master tempo to the Tempi. Baseline is coming from the Pittsburgh Modular SV-1 sequenced by the Tempi and Akai Timbre Wolf. The other three voices of the Timbre Wolf are doing the pad chords through the Eowave Fluctuations filter. Tempi, Rene, and the Turing Machine are sequencing the Tonestar for the lead synth. The Tempi and Mutable instruments Braids provides the Kick. Finally the sparkle is added by Rings which is doubling the lead voice with a high frequency strike from Tempi."

Erica Synths Garage Special with Jean-Michel Jarre

Published on Nov 28, 2017 Erica Synths

"Erica Synths team visits Jean-Michel Jarre in his studio in Paris to talk about inspiration, creativity, synths and future of the electronic music and to play a live modular jam. Thank you, Jean-Michel for great insights!

Interview: Girts Ozolins
Live jam: Jean-Michel Jarre & Kodek
Camera: Inese Verina"

5:29: sounds like JMJ needs to explore FM synthesis. :) Just kidding. I believe he's referring to the change in focus the DX7 brought towards just playing presets vs. exploring sound.

Make Noise O-Coast - Krell-Ah De-Vil

Published on Nov 28, 2017 Jae Ryan

"I bought an O-Coast yesterday. I didn't have time to do anything musical with it but I did layer a Krell patch with a Drone and added some footage from NASA. This sucks, but the synthesizer is amazing. I can't wait to do some actual music on it. I haven't had a piece of gear inspire or excite me this much in a LONG time!"

Random Analog Melody - Roland System100 & TipTop Audio (HQ Audio)

Published on Nov 28, 2017 Francesco Poggianti

"An experiment making the Roland System 100 (MOD102) and the TipTop Audio minisystem interact in a random access melodic theme.
The "S & H out" of the Roland drive the direction of the sequencer and the clock.
The TipTop programmer/sequencer controls the vcos for the melody and modulations.
The TipTop Z3000 vco is used as an audio source together with the Roland vco, and as a modulator for the filter and for the Roland vco.
The Z3000 is used as source for the sample and hold too."

Live Modular Synth Performance for QU-Bit Electronix - POB

Published on Nov 28, 2017 Patrick OBrien

"This is a live performance of the patch I put together for QU-Bit Electronix when I took over their Instagram Stories for 24 hours at http://instagram.com/qubitelectronix

The patch stayed true to the format and was built and performed in a 24-hour period.

IN STEREO

The Qu-BIT Electronix modules used:
Chance - unique modulation source
Contour - quad envelope generator
Tone - quad voltage controlled filter
Octone - 8 step sequencer
Pulsar - burst generator
RT-60 - stereo multi-effects processor
Nebulae - granular sampler

The two samples in the Nebulae were sounds from Native Instruments: String Ensemble (violin), Kontakt (choir)."
