PATCHMATCH™ // OB-6 vs. Prophet-6

Published on Dec 11, 2017 MR TUNA Music

"Join your friend Mr. Tuna in an exploration of sound, building and matching patches on two incredible synthesizers: The Dave Smith Prophet-6 and the Dave Smith/Tom Oberheim OB-6.

For this exercise, I am trying to recreate one of my favourite sounds on the OB, and in that sense the parameters and sound-sculpting lends a little more towards emphasizing the unique character and timbres of OB than the Prophet, but you might be surprised (or not surprised at all) at how truly similar the end up in the end!

Check it out, and bare with me- things may get a little shy of exciting."

"Kinetic sound object. The mechanism is a system consisting of two sound circuits and auxiliary mechanical and electronic elements. The first sound circuit is a speaker emitting square wave. This speaker forces copper balls, served one at a time or several at a time through a dispenser, to bounce up and down on its membrane. Depending on the amplitude and frequency of the sound of the speaker, the balls bounce at one of the same height or at another height. As they are confined in a pipe, they either fall back to the speaker, or jump out of it. If a ball jumps out, it ends up in one of seven collecting vessels and subsequently falls into the pipe. An optical sensor is installed in each of the seven pipes attached to the vessels, detecting the passage of the balls through this pipe. Subsequently, the ball ends up in the collector and may, as and when the balls are used, be returned to the mechanical dispenser through the use of a robotic 'hand'. Depending on the number of times that a ball ends up in a vessel (pipe) and a particular vessel (pipe), the algorithm of the generated sound changes in the second circuit, which executes the generative composition. The frequency of the sound in the primary circuit is also affected by the number of hits.

To all intents and purposes, the object represents a complicated feedback machine, where the feedback doesn't have a direct impact on itself, but uses kinetic and mechanical elements -intermediaries. These intermediaries are nothing other than the generators of random numbers inside a complex and harmonious system. This results in a constant change in the sound and the spectator’s observation of the system's attempts to retain balance and continue its work. To a certain extent, we may assert that the object is performing a routine ritual, infinitely repeating its actions in order to extend its life cycle."

Happy Holidays from SynthgodXXX!! YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!! :)

Access Virus A in *Infected Space* Dark Ambient Exploration
2 nice examples of tweaking the presets (IQ-PAD RP & V-BRASS RP for example)
into something of your own. So easy to use, fun to tweak, and
the prices are GREAT 2nd hand. Be sure to test before you buy,
some outputs, knobs & buttons can be bad by now.
Still worth it even as a MIDI module controlled by another device.
Here I am controlling the VIRUS A from my Roland JX-305.
The two are excellent together!! Any good sequencer & VIRUS
will be a dream come true! (TI owners may disagree with me
due to some OS issues but I'm sure even then they still dig it!)

New Synthesizer plug-in Fluoresynth 2 from Electric Telepathy

Published on Dec 7, 2017 Electric Telepathy

"Version 2 of our popular synthesizer. Get Fluoresynth at https://electrictelepathy.com

Make better music faster

Musicians want to spend their time making music, not learning how to use a particular synth.

Fluoresynth (sounds like “fluorescent”) allows you to play with a rich soundscape without needing a complicated interface. You’ll immediately start making music instead of figuring out controls.

Place your mouse over the sliders to see how each one changes Fluoresynth’s sound.

It’s easier than deciphering a wall of knobs.

Precise Harmonics

Fluoresynth produces an audio signal composed of a fundamental tone and 12 overtones. It produces no noise and filters all aliased frequencies.

Audio Damage Replicant 2 for iPad

Published on Dec 11, 2017 pantsofdeath

iTunes: Replicant 2 - Audio Damage, Inc.

"One of the original buffer effects, and still one of the best, Replicant is essentially a randomized looper/buffer reverse, with a randomized stutter effect inside the loop. From a simple delay or panning effect, on up to massive random "instant Autechre" beat mangling, Replicant is a capable plugin well in line with today's electronic music styles. Stuttering buffers and filter drops are easy to program, and the comprehensive randomization features give it a mind of its own, if so desired. If you're looking to add some chance to your production, you've come to the right place!

IMPORTANT!!!! PLEASE READ!!!

Replicant 2 is a tempo-based effect, and requires a host that provides transport information. A standalone application is supplied, but it requires an Inter-App Audio connection to a host with a transport to work. We strongly advise using the (identical) AUv3 instead. We recommend BeatMaker 3, AUM, Cubasis, ModStep, GarageBand, AudioBus 3, and similar AUv3 hosts that have a transport.

And finally, we have made an iPhone version available for cross-compatibility, but note that the controls are very small. It can be difficult to use in this context, and we do not recommend it.

Replicant 2 is an aggressive buffer-rearranger. It is primarily meant for percussive straight-time material such as drum loops. If the track has a lot of swing, we suggest using loop sizes no smaller than 1/8, as shorter times will nip off the front of the off-beat slices. Furthermore, on legato material Replicant 2 will inevitably choose slice times that contain non-zero-crossing samples. Hence, you will hear clicking on duller material with long decays. This is expected and known. It is a glitch effect. :-)

Replicant 2 for iOS is otherwise identical to our Replicant 2 desktop plugin. Visit the Audio Damage website for audio samples, a video overview, and a full manual.

FEATURES:

» Tempo-based delay and looping effects, from 1/128th note to an entire measure.

» Stutter adds further subdivisions, down to a 1/16384th note (otherwise known as a "tone".)

» Seven independant randomization controls, for subtle changes or extreme aleatoric madness, including a global randomize button.

» Our unique "Hold" feature, to store a random sequence you like.

» Resonant low-pass and high-pass filters that change over time.

» Pan position that changes over time.

» Two separate direction modes, for entire events or individual repeats, with randomization.

» Front panel triggering of loop events for live playing of effects."

Custom BLACK KORG Minilogue with Moog style knobs

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

"Up for sale is a used custom KORG Minilogue synthesizer with a custom black vinyl overlay and Moog-style knobs. This is not the black Monologue monosynth, but the 4 voice analog VCO Minilogue with a custom vinyl overlay.

The unit is fully functional. All knobs, keys, lights, indicators and switches work as they should.

The black is an overlay from style flip .com made of self adhesive vinyl. It can be removed (although why would you?). The knobs are 28 Moog style Comso knobs with a set screw. These can also be removed. I'll put the original knobs in a bag in the box to be included with the sale, so you can swap back to them if you want.

The unit comes with the original power supply."
