Caitlin creates wavetables for the E352 using data recorded on the ISS

Published on Jan 14, 2018 The Mad Music Machine

"The Code Club that Caitlin attends has entered the Astro Pi competition. As part of their research we have been looking at historic data collected on board the ISS. Here Caitlin explains how she extracted cyclic data from it and used it to create wavetables for the E352 Cloud Terrarium.

Once she had created the .wav file she imported into the Synthesis Technology Waveedit program to create the wavetables (see one of her previews videos for details on how to use this program).

She then explains how she modulates the wavetables with MATHS before having a quick jam with her newly created wavetables!"

meng qi - dinner thought

Published on Jan 14, 2018 Meng Qi

"Emotionally, 'what for dinner' is my most important decision in a day. As good choices bring essential daily happiness.

Technically, Just Type is the main sound source, a Mangrove to beef up low end. Two Sisters, one in crossover mode for tone shaping, another in format mode for intense effects, sometimes percussive.

I think the charm lies in the method of polyphony stacking to distortion (a thing to avoid in 'normal' sense) for timber morphing. And occasionally jumping modulations to provide a feel of paragraphs."

"Limited Edition Moog Voyager XL in black Tolex with custom designed front panel ala the classic moog modular. Only 100 of these were made and there are only a few left for sale in the entire world. This one is priced WELL below what others online are selling for.

I bought two of these Tolex XL's… serial 073 and 090. This one is a latter 090 of 100. It looks perfect. No dents, dings, scratches as its only been used a few times in studio. It all works and sounds great as well. I am simply selling as i just don't need two of these and of course… the Tax Man cometh!"

"The Omega 8 is an eight-voice, discrete circuit, multi-timbral, stereo, multi filtered, arpeggiating, DSP free Analog Dream Machine.

Overflowing with elaborate MIDI control, dynamic signal processing, and expansive modulation, its sound creation and manipulation could very well exceed the boundaries of your imagination.

Salvational pads, foundational basses, revelatory leads, electrosonic drums, other-worldly FX and thoroughly hypnotic pulsating soundscapes powered by our SE's very own discrete analog sound engine will inspire your most potent creative effort..."

"The Marion MSR-2 was designed by Tom Oberheim and so it is known for having the 'Oberheim sound' packaged inside a compact single-space rackmount module with modern digital reliability and MIDI implementation. Despite its rather harmless and simple appearance, the MSR-2 allows for some fairly complex but intuitive programming. The filters, envelopes, LFOs and other parameters are very analog-like in their sound and editing methods. The module is also 16-part multitimbral. And external inputs route a signal through the envelope and filter sections. The MSR-2 is rare but definitely worth checking out."

Note the video above is not the exact one for sale. It was just a demo of the MSR-2 in general linked in the auction.

"DIAL YOUR GROWL

On-board controls—all continuously variable—let you customize the tuning, amplitude envelopes, and volume of each drum voice separately for precise real-time adjustment, so you can get that perfect sound.

Outfitted with six MPC-style pads and a built-in 32-step sequencer, Tom Cat provides an ultra-responsive interface with a classic drum machine layout. Drum patterns can be fine-tuned using the Swing function, Pattern Select, and Tempo Control knob. A custom signal path, activated by its unique “Maul” circuitry, lets you ‘dirty up’ your drums for just the right effect.

With Tom Cat we’ve put the sound and design of classic analog drum machines into a compact piece of gear that can be integrated into both modern and vintage rigs."

Improvisation 82 for Poly Evolver Keyboard

Published on Jan 13, 2018 Sacred Synthesis

"I've been working on some compositions, so I thought in the mean time I'd post this improvisation from a previous session. The main patch, played on the lower PEK+PER pair, is perhaps my very favorite Evolver patch, and the type that accounts for my being drawn back again to the synthesizer. I love the nobility of tone and immensity of sound.

The melody patch, played on the upper PEK, is a sort of digital reed. The pedal patch is the fullest I've yet used. 100% Evolver, from top to bottom. There's even a special Evolver "pop" at the very end!

Instrumentation:
DSI Poly Evolver Keyboard (2)
DSI Poly Evolver Rack

Bass:
DSI Evolver Desktop
Hammond XPK 200L Pedalboard

Effects:
Lexicon MX300

Performed live and recorded directly to a Tascam CD-RW900 Mk II.
