Touché & Moog - Expressive E Coming to Moogfest 2018

Published on May 16, 2018 Expressive E

"Composed & Performed by Arthur Bouflet.

To promote Expressive E's presence at the 2018 edition of the Moogfest, and to showcase the collaborative possibilities of Touché and Moog products, this video demonstrates some great sounds created using Touché connected to classic synthesizers from the Moog range.

Thanks to built-in USB, CV and MIDI connections, Touché can be tightly integrated to both hardware and software synths, as shown in the video with a Subsequent 37, the Model D iOS app, and a DFAM, all from Moog.

This video also lets us see a custom wooden skin for Touché, labeled with a golden “Moogfest 2018” logo on it. This custom skin will be available as an add-on for each purchase of a Touché at the Moogfest - Units will be available on sale, at the “Modular Marketplace” inside the festival."

E-mu Morpheus Synth Demos

E-Mu Morpheus Z-Plane Synth Quick Run Through of Sounds Published on Feb 3, 2017 Electric Denim Studios

Three demos, previously not posted, in order of length. Above is a walkthrough. Below are pure sound demos.

"I love some of the Saws and Pads in this synth. I thought I would run through some of them so you can hear them. The Z-Plane filter sounds pretty awesome too."

E-mu Morpheus synth demo, by Pulse Emitter

Published on Feb 9, 2014

"E-mu Morpheus Z-Plane synthesizer, 1993. All sounds custom programmed and played live with no external effects, just reverb and chorus from the unit itself. 'Liquid' is the first word that comes to my mind when describing the sound of the Morpheus. Then 'ethereal'. It's a powerful and easy to program synth, and I know it can do a variety of styles, but for me it's an ambient music machine. It sounds like some multidimensional jellyfish swimming in the aether. Creating sounds on this thing takes dedication, there are 197 different filters to choose from. And so you know, the presets in this synth are pretty terrible, you won't find anything like what i have here in there at all."

Some distortion from :32 to :55 and then it's gone.

"Z-Plane Synthesizer rackmount module with ASIC chips to deliver sweepable parametric 14-pole digital filter "cubes" (the Z-plane filter). The Z-Plane filter is composed of up to eight complex filters that model and interpolate resonant sound characteristics. In this demo track you can hear some single notes, chords and sequences to give you a conception about Z-Plane filter synthesis possibilities of this legendary machine."

Synthrotek:s ROBOTOize Pop Music! - Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit

Published on May 16, 2018 synthrotek

"Do you desire to have a vocoder, pitch shifter, speak-n-spell effect, vibrato, 8-bit modulator and a bit crusher sounding module all in a lo-fi heavily CV controllable package? Well surprise! we read your mind! The Roboto module is all these and more (and it has a neat Cylon looking graphic that lights up). Check it out!

Features:
Can be in either Robot mode or Pitch mode, but not both. Handy LEDs tell you which mode you're in. The ROBOT button toggles between the two.
Vibrato toggles on and off. Works in either Robot mode or Pitch mode.
Robot and Vibrato CV inputs activate those modes (and deactivates in the case of vibrato) upon receiving a gate pulse. Gate pulses in these inputs are just like pushing their corresponding buttons. Expected transition is from 0V to +5V (and back to 0V), but it will handle any voltage within the power supply range without damaging the module. Transition between what is considered "off" and "on" is at approximately 2.3V.
Rate pot/input control the clock speed in the chip. A CV input of 0-5V will mimic the range of the pot, but voltages outside of this range will push the rate setting further.
The CV input is mixed with the voltage coming from the pot.
The pitch pot is used to pitch the audio up or down when in pitch mode. It has 7 zones/pitches; 12:00 is normal pitch, and there are 3 steps up and 3 steps down from there.
0-5V fed into the Pitch jack mimic the full travel of the pot (0V is lowest, 5V is highest, normal is ~2.5V). Voltages outside this range are tolerated but won't provide any added functionality.
The pitch pot is disabled when a plug is inserted into the CV jack.
Roboto is fun at parties.
IN LVL adjusts the level of the incoming signal.
MIX:
CCW=input signal only
CW=processed signal only."

Laurel vs Yanny: an analogue analysis

Published on May 16, 2018 voltlife

"Using an analogue filterbank/vocoder to identify the frequency ranges that solve this acoustic puzzle."

Pretty funny.

Featuring the Frap Tools Fumana.

Update: Below is the source. What do you hear? voltlife in the video above adjusts the frequencies for you so you can hear what different people hear. Apparently when you lose the ability to hear higher frequencies you hear "Laurel". Welcome to the club.  :)

Elektron Sidstation mos6581 Synthesizer

"This synthesizer is fast becoming a collectors item as it was Elektron's first product, and SID chips are almost impossible to find these days. Sounds are crisp and aggressive, and really cut through the mix. Please note that this SID suffers from a known sidstation issue (according to gearslutz) and crashes every 1-2 hours of continuous use due to voltage spikes causing the RAM to freak out. This bug is non-destructive, just means you need to save your patches to a midi sysex dump often to ensure you don't lose anything, reset the RAM (in the menus) and reupload your patches. I'm getting rid of this synth because I came across 8 SID chips and am going to try to build one of the big a$% mb-6582's."

Erica Synths Graphic VCO noodle drone

Published on May 16, 2018 Molten Music Technology

"While exploring the Graphic VCO I stumbled upon this extraordinary drone sound coming from the sub. Modulating the wavetable matrix in two directions. I then added some gates to the main output, doubled it up on some drums and added a bit of Black VCO bass for good measure. Just a nice discovery. Check out my Graphic VCO review coming very soon."
