"Back in the day on my studio, I used an Steinberg Pro-24/Atari ST set-up, and I can attest that the MIDI DJ was tightest compare with the ST and it is portable!. Below a couple of features, such as:

As a conventional MIDI sequencer, recording polyphonic performances and overdubbing them in the usual fashion for playback 'live' or synchronised to tape via a drum machine.
Up to 12,000 note capacity per sequence
A total of 45,000 notes per disk (just limited by storage capacity of the disk)
Real time record
inboard clock for tempos from 1 - 255 beats per minute
Two track recording of data w/ "sound on sound" technique
Standard 5 1/4 floppy disk format and more.

· As a data filer which will let you store (for instance) DX7 sounds on a cheap 5 1/4" floppy disk rather than an expensive RAM cartridge.

· For those interested in playing live, as a playback machine for sequences which have been created on a much more complex system and easily incorporate MIDI and CV analog input and outputs

I assure you that this is one of a kind and it will be hard for you to find another one like this one and in this amazing state."

"Like most drum machines from the mid-1980s, the Roland TR-505 generates its percussion sounds by replaying pre-recorded digitized samples of real drums. These sounds are stored as pulse-code modulation data in ROM. Whereas older machines such as the LinnDrum, Oberheim DMX, etc. typically stored each sound on its own ROM chip, with dedicated digital-to-analogue converter and associated circuitry; this TR-505 includes a pre-assembled board with a ROM with samples from the Linn LM-1, LinnDrum and Oberheim DMX. The sample data from these machines is compressed (they used non-linear DAC circuitry to simulate 12-bit resolution) all controlled by 2x toggle switches.

Provides four switchable banks of sounds:
Stock TR-505,
LM-1,
LinnDrum
DMX
Reversible installation - board is socketed, so you can remove it and return to the stock configuration
Basically you can have tree extra classic and hard to find drum machines for less than the price of any of them."

1979 Crumar Performer Update

Just a quick update for the video posted here earlier today. It turns out, that particular Crumar Performer is current for sale on Charlottesville Criagslist. Paul Curreri who posted the video also has a write-up on the allure of vintage synths on his Patreon page that went along with the video posted there.

"SpaceCraft is a Granular Synthesizer for iPad and iPhone and it's dirt cheap too. Not only that, it's also very easy to work with thanks to the limited graphical user interface. You'll have something going with SpaceCraft a few seconds after launching it for the first time and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get into simple, granular synthesis. The app isn't perfect and needs a lot of work though. I cannot stress how much this thing would benefit from a proper working AUv'3 mode, because as of right now it can only be loaded as an fx plugin and the sample import wont work when doing that."

"I have been using guitar pedals for sound design for many years. Distortion, fuzz, overdive, filtering, reverb, chorus, all manner of different pitch modulation, octave generators and Lofi FX. I don't know why I didn't think of this doing pack before... the 808 through these boxes is a sonic wonderland of drum goodness.

This pack contains a varied and useful palette of new 808 sounds. Not just full on distortion (although there is plenty) but also subtle saturation and new punchy, warm tones that you can only get through these wonderful little analog and digital stomp boxes. Also included are some crazy/weird drum sounds that you wouldn't even think came from an 808.

Chromatic kicks, congas and toms are mapped and tuned so you can play them on your keyboard (EXS-24, Kontakt and Maschine). All the samples are logically labeled and organised. With kits for Maschine, Geist, Battery, Kontakt and EXS-24. I have even created a PDF with all the kick and conga drum tuning info for those who don't have the software formats I have included."
