"MONTAGE OS v2.5 adds new sound, control and workflow enhancements to the MONTAGE music synthesizer."

Update: and the official press release:

"Yamaha MONTAGE OS v2.5 Adds New Sounds, Enhanced Control, DAW Remote Function to Flagship Synthesizer

BUENA PARK, Calif. (July 31, 2018) — Yamaha today released MONTAGE OS version 2.5, the fifth free firmware update to its flagship synthesizer line. The update further expands the MONTAGE sound, control and workflow features with the biggest enhancement being the new DAW Remote functionality.

MONTAGE OS v2.5 now includes all the original MOTIF XF Performances, bringing the total number of MONTAGE preset Performances to 2,655. Each of the MOTIF XF Performances has been updated for MONTAGE with new Super Knob programming and Audition demos for more creative possibilities. From the beginning, MONTAGE contained all of the MOTIF XF Voice content. This update gives MONTAGE all of the same sound content that’s in MOTIF XF, along with the all-new, multi-gigabyte sized MONTAGE AWM2 and FM-X content.

Mixtape Alpha and Moldover Four Track [Episode 80]

Published on Jul 30, 2018 CatSynth TV

"For our 80th episode, we demo the Mixtape Alpha and Moldover Four Track, two tiny cassette-shaped synthesizers.

'The Mixtape Alpha has a stylophone style input for continuous tone generation, and six buttons for discrete notes. With four voices, four effects, and five-note polyphony there is quite a range of expression. You can even loop a pattern and play a second part on top. But, the best part is, you can record the songs you make, and trade mixtapes with your friends! And it comes in its own cassette case, with instructions.'

Percussa SSP Update 30072018 [VST Support + QuadVCA VST Plugin + BitCrusher + Module Picker]

via the Percussa Super Signal Processor kickstarter

"We have a new software update for the SSP, featuring the following:

VST2 / VST3 Support (new VST module)
SDK Delivery (kickstarter goals)
QuadVCA VST Plugin
BitCrusher (kickstarter stretch goal)
Module Picker

Read the full update [here]
module-picker

In short, the SSP's software now has VST hosting capability which is a pretty big deal: it's now possible to host VST plugins in an eurorack module, the Percussa SSP. The modules can function in the SSP's patcher grid, and you can use them (through the input and output jacks of the SSP) with your other favourite modules in your rack!

Besides that we also delivered the SSP SDK - it basically consists of a VST plugin example written in JUCE, a Quad VCA, which was also requested by SSP users in our forum. Full details in the above updates. If you are a developer you definately want to read up on this. The code is already on github ready to check out and modify.

The Quad VCA is included in the software update ready to use, and we even made a preset with this new module. So you don't have to be a developer to use it.

Finally we also have a new BitCrusher module, and a new module picker, which allows you to easily pick modules from our continuously expanding catalog.

We hope you enjoy this update and look forward to the next one! Thanks again for your support.

"Sequential Circuits Pro One monophonic analog synthesizer. It has been fully dissasembled, the key contacts, busbar, switches and controls have been cleaned. The power supply has been recapped with nichicon high temp capacitors, and some mismatched hardware has been replaced. It is dated 1981 low serial number with true key contacts. All ins and outs have been tested and are deemed to be working. There are blemishes on some keys and the wood sides, but overall considering the age, it is in very good shape."

"The A6 has analog CV inputs to the oscillators and filters, allowing you to connect some of your precious vintage controllers to the A6.

The Andromeda A6 is a true analog synthesizer using two analog oscillators per voice, sub-oscillators, hard and soft sync and more! It features 16-voice polyphony. With the Andromeda, you'll find a huge range of tonal possibilities: searing leads, warm pads, fat bass lines, extreme sound effects and more. And of course there are plenty of knobs (72) and buttons (144), even an assignable ribbon controller for addictive hands-on real-time control! The large high-resolution LCD display is excellent and shows you actual rather than relative values of parameters. Andromeda will integrate seamlessly into any studio with its total MIDI control and sync, individual voice outputs, stereo outputs and several audio inputs.

Andromeda is completely analog - no emulation! It features two analog filters per voice that sound great! They are a multimode 2-pole and a 4-pole lowpass. External audio can be routed through these filters too (three 1/4" jacks)! As for modulation, Andromeda has three LFOs, each with six waveforms and they can be synced to MIDI clock. And there are three 7-stage envelopes with very creative and flexible functions. Also onboard is an extensive mod matrix for enormous freedom in configuring Andromeda's sounds!"

JBS Haldane Lecture: Trevor Pinch - The Moog Synthesiser as a Technological and Sound Object

Published on Jul 2, 2018 STSUCL

"For the 2018 JBS Haldane Lecture, The Department of Science and Technology Studies at UCL is proud to present Prof. Trevor Pinch (Cornell) discussing The Moog Synthesiser as a Technological and Sound Object.

Sound Studies is a newly emergent interdisciplinary field which studies the material production, transmission, storage, and consumption of music, sound, noise, and silence and how these have changed throughout history and within different societies. In this lecture Trevor examines how a new electronic soundscape came into being with a new instrument, the Moog Electronic Music Synthesizer. He tells the story of this invention in upstate New York in 1964-9 and places it within the context of wider developments in electronic music and the counter-cultural sixties. His approach uses work in Science and Technology Studies to better understand the history of musical instruments as sounding objects, documenting how certain sounds stabilized as part of a new electronic soundscape and how other sounds failed to do so.

Professor Trevor Pinch's main research centres on three areas: the sociology of technology and how users engage with technology, sound studies and music and in particular the development of musical instruments and sound objects, markets and the economy with specific attention to the study of selling and persuasion."
