Control Presents La Synthèse Humaine - Workshop #3 "...All Under Voltage Control"

via CONTROL

"Control is pleased to present the first in a new workshops series covering the basics of synthesis, acoustics, and voltage control.

La Synthèse Humaine has been designed to give the musician, sound designer, hobbyist, and enthusiast a basic working understanding of modular synthesizers - how they work, how modules interact, and how to create new sounds with them. Upon leaving this course we hope to give you the basic intuition you need to create any sound you can imagine (and, most importantly, the ones you can’t) with only a couple of modules.

The workshop series is split into three sections and will take place on Tuesday nights over the course of three classes:

I - Waveforms and Oscillations (Feb. 12th)
II - Processing and Modulation (Feb. 26th)
III - ...All Under Voltage Control (March 12th)

In the third and final session of the workshop - … ALL UNDER VOLTAGE CONTROL - we will discuss the basic principles and sources of control voltage in the modular system. First we cover the basic concepts of voltage processing: offsets, attenuation, inversion, rectification, integration, quantization, and multiplication. Through the all-important slew generator we will look at envelope generators, envelope followers, comparators, and all manner of control voltage generation, then we will dive into control voltage sources - both kinesthetic (i.e. keyboards) and programmed (i.e. sequencers).

Adding this to your cart and processing your purchase reserves you one seat in Workshop #3 "Modulation And Processing."

We would like this class to be accessible to all regardless of income - as such we suggest a donation anywhere from $5 to $35 based on what you feel you would like to contribute.

This lecture will take place on Tuesday, February 26th from 7:00-9:00pm at Control, Brooklyn, NY. Control is located at 416 Lorimer St., #1R in Brooklyn, NY. Please see our about page for more details.

Leading the course will be Control's Chris Miller who holds a master's degree in signal processing from NYU and performs live somewhat often with an array of modular and non-modular synthesizers."

KORG Gadget Taipei MIDI Out | The UPs and DOWNs - haQ attaQ 313

Published on Mar 1, 2019 Jakob Haq

"KORG Gadget Taipei finally adds MIDI Out for Gadget. To many this might just be a nice little update, but for veteran KORG Gadget users, this is so much more. We’ve been waiting for years for something like this. Taipei isn’t perfect perfect however and in this episode of haQ attaQ, I’ll be going over the ups and downs with this new Gadget. Here’s the stuff you need to think about!"

"siel orchestra 2 also labled or-400
its the later version of the orchestra 2 in blue grey metal case its similar design to the kiwi synthesizer but much smaller

propably the most compact multi orchestra string synth very small with so many sections
it has piano sounds hapsichord reeds which are basically organ sounds
a brass synth with filter resonance and the string section envelopes
also a very useful analog equalizer to shape the sounds
animator which is basically ensemble and flanger aswell as lfo vibrato section
the different parts can be layered to get huge retro italian film sountrack style sound im very keen on this synth sad to see it go but i also own the farfisa soundmaker which sounds very similar something needs to go"

Model:Samples Mega Tutorial 1

Published on Mar 1, 2019 cuckoomusic

"Elektron has come out with a new machine. It’s a sample instrument. And it’s a bit more accessible than their other machines. To say that this is geared towards newcomers I’d say is pretty much accurate. But an Elektron newcomer might be expected to have prior experience in at least something. It helps to understand the concept of patterns, sequencers, parameters, tracks..

The Elektron depth is still there to a great extent. But it’s simpler to get started with it, and easier to get to the depths. All in all I like it. It’s fast, and fun."

KORG VOLCA MODULAR // PATCH 1

Published on Mar 1, 2019 LESINDES

"KORG VOLCA MODULAR
a synthesizer with a potential but also with a lot of NOs, unfortunately. I really like the idea of it but it has:
1. unlike all the other Volcas NO Midi input
2. NO Gate input unless you solder some adapter to fiddly patch cables
3. LPG is very low, only half as loud as LPG1, or my Volca is broken?!
4. No gate or CV output of niether keyboard nor sequencer.
4. Cables with the soft ends feel and are very fiddly.
Short explanation of the patch -- it is basically:
AD-Env2 looped controles LPG2.
WOGGLE s/h controles pitch.
OSC into LPG2 In.
Later WOGGLE is controlled by CLOCK DIVIDER."

DIGITONE & MONTAGE : Winternity by CO5MA

Published on Mar 1, 2019 CO5MA

"Winternity" is an ode to cycles, to all cycles. The seasons, the life, the good news, the bad news, the mood, the rotation of the planets, the perpetual movements of the sea, the big bang, the big bounce...

All my Digitone videos are made using my own custom presets for the Digitone that are available here as a complete pack: https://gum.co/CO5MO5 or as individual sound pack (Fractal Pads, Minimal Arps, Freaking Percs, Moving Vektors... more to come)

The preset you can hear from the Montage is a custom made preset named "iomi". The modulation wheel is "morphing" the preset between a slow organic pad and a warm string sound. Montage is an amazing FM beast (but "Montage" is a real bad name I think!)
