"Originally there were only 200 built and nobody knows how many have survived.

This must be one of the most beautiful designs ever and only topped by the even more rare RSF Polykobol & Polykobol II

Everything works flawless and the only thing that was changed was the battery for the programs. Everything else is original.

It is actually a RSF Kobol Expander 1 with the Programmer added. You could even use an extension cable and program your Expanders, if you have them."

SOUND BLAST FROM THE PAST: THE KAWAI K1M

Published on Apr 6, 2019 Audio Wanderer
Update: Re-Published on Apr 7, 2019

"A little dreamy jam with the cheap and versatile K1 module from Kawai. A very decent polyphonic synth based on additive synthesis principles and very affordable back in the day (1988) and now in second hand markets. Definitely, a sound blast from the past!"

LamdbaSpeak 3 - Audio Playback over CPC Speaker & Serial Interface

Published on Apr 6, 2019 Michael Wessel

"LambdaSpeak 3 audio output can now also be sent back into the CPC to be played over the CPC's internal speaker, using mono SND pin of the expansion port. Hence, the final version of LambdaSpeak 3 will have 2 more DIP switches (one for left audio channel, one for right audio channel) that allow turning audio loop back on and off.

Also, the new serial mode seems to be working! LambdaSpeak 3 will have a new "serial" mode and 4 PIN headers (VCC, GND, TX, RX). In this mode, the hardware USART0 of the ATmega 644 will be used.

So far, there is a little test that initializes the USART, and then communicates with the Emic 2 speech synthesizer board on the little breadboard, connected over the 4 yellow wires (VCC, GND, TX, RX). The Emic 2 is connected to an amplifier. It uses a simple serial protocol (plain ASCII) which is being sent over the USART / serial connection. Seems to work!"

Akai S1000KB inspiration

Published on Apr 6, 2019 bitleyTM

"While the rack format was extremely popular for samplers back in the day, it must be said that having the keyboard version of the S-1000 instantly made it feel like a completely different instrument, hands on, easy to use and very fun to play. This particular S-1000 KB has been owned by the euro pop legend E-type and the diskdrive does currently not work. Therefore, I programmed three patches (that I can't save) which uses the four internal waveforms of the machine. Adding these was a brilliant move by Akai and I am sending my thanks for this. The patches were programmed as three programs with two samples per key group, thus making the programs 8 note polyphonic. The synthesizer engine may be limited (the filter is non resonant for instance) but it is none the less highly musical and exciting to befriend. I'm calling this improvised musical passage 'Akaiada'."
