"The AKAI S612 was one of Akai's first samplers. It was released in 1895 and it has a super gritty, lo-fi sound which we thought was pretty awesome when we were testing this unit with some samples taken from Sun Ra. This simple and easy to use unit features MIDI, 12-bit sampling from 4 to 32kHz, loop, 8 seconds of sampling time, truncate, overdub, a continuous variable lo-pass filter and an LFO for modulating."

"The Ekdahl Moisturizer is an innovative spring reverb where the springs are exposed so they can be played/hit/fiddled with. As well as being capable of creating sound in itself, you can of course also play sound through the springs like a regular spring reverb - this makes for happy-fun-time finger-modulation of the reverb on whatever audio that's going through it.

On top of this there's an analog multimode filter that can be used to attenuate or exaggerate certain frequencies in the sound, this is real handy while playing the springs as you can - for instance - cut all the highs and just make thunderous doomy sounds or do the opposite; cut all the lows and make that ear piercing high frequency special love.

Also, it incorporates an LFO that's internally routable to the filter and that also has some external routing-stuff. The Ekdahl Moisturizer has tons of CV / Expression pedal options on the back for even more hilarious moments. The Moisturizer is a mono unit.

The Ekdahl Moisturizer contains exactly:

Preamp (up to 10 times gain)
Reverb / Preamp wet/dry crossfader (Knob & CV/EP controllable)
State variable filter width
Lowpass/Bandpass/Highpass seamless crossover (Knob, CV/EP & LFO controllable)
Cutoff (Knob, CV/EP & LFO controllable)
Resonance (WITHOUT resonance limiter)
LFO Speed control (Knob & CV/EP controllable)
Square / Triangle crossover
External output with output amplitude knob Filter / No filter wet/dry crossfader (Knob & CV/EP controllable)"

nonlinearcircuits Feague QUO VCF

Note this module is from 2016.

"The Feague is a 4 pole VCF and quadrature oscillator with 0, 90, 180 & 270 degree outputs. It is based on the design in electronotes 41.

It features a lo/hi switch to run it at audio rates or LFO rates, plus a nonlinear Q pot which makes for interesting behaviour when using as a VCF.

When using as a QUO, the nonlinQ pot is used to increase the amplitude of the output signal, which is known to shrink somewhat at low frequencies in these kind of oscillators.

Specs

HP: 10

Inputs

SIGNAL: audio input
CV: for controlling cutoff in VCF or frequence in LFO/VCO
SYNC: sync in/freeze/hold control
1V/OCT: for controlling cutoff in VCF or frequence in LFO/VCO

Outputs

Each ouputs are 90 degrees in out of phase : 0, 90, 190 and 270.

In VCF, the two outputs closest to the side edge of the panel are low-pass outputs, and the other two are band-pass."

Podcast 273: Dan Goldstein (Cherry Audio)

Published on Apr 21, 2019 20Objects

"Dan Goldstein has been living his dream for 20 years. He started off with Sonic Foundry - back in the golden days - creating the future of audio software from scratch. He went on to be a main developer of Mixcraft, and has recently been involved in the release of Cherry Audio's Voltage Modular synth software. It's a powerhouse, and you can tell that Dan is really excited about it.

We took the opportunity to roll through some of his history, and I learned a lot about Sonic Foundry's world. But I also got a chance to see the trajectory of a guy - in Dan - that knew what he loved, and spent a lot of effort pursuing it. You hear it in his voice; despite the fact that he's been doing it for 20 years, he sounds as excited as a teen with his first car.

It was cool to talk to Dan about history, but also about his current work on Voltage Modular. If you are interested in playing around with a new kind of virtual modular, you should check it out - it's breaking some new ground, and is a blast to play with. You can check it out at https://cherryaudio.com/

Enjoy!"
