8Dio Releases New Prophet T8 Sample Pack for Prophet X

San Francisco, CA—May 14, 2019 — Sound developer 8Dio has released a new “T8” Add-On pack for the Prophet X that features over 3,869 samples, 120 custom instruments, and 32 custom presets. The Add-On pack was created by deep-sampling Dave Smith’s own vintage Prophet T8 synthesizer. The $48 Add-On pack is now available for download from 8Dio’s website.

The Prophet T8 was one of Sequential’s flagship all-analog instruments created in the early 1980s. Its sonic architecture was based on the classic Prophet-5, but with the addition of a full-size weighted keyboard, MIDI integration, velocity and aftertouch sensitivity, a built-in sequencer, and a variety of keyboard modes (Single/Split/Double/Unison). These features made it a milestone in both technology and instrument innovation. In addition to its unique and powerful sound capabilities, one of its main selling points, was its high-quality velocity sensitive keys featuring polyphonic aftertouch.

The “T8” Add-On pack requires Prophet X OS v2.1 or higher.

The Prophet X has garnered critical acclaim for its sonic versatility and sound design capabilities through its substantial internal library of 150 GB of sample content as well as its ability to import up to 50 GB of additional user samples and add-on content from sound developers. Imported sample content can be used to create custom instruments and patches and can be augmented with the Prophet X’s own synthesis engine, which features 2 digital oscillators, stereo analog filters, as well as other sound-shaping controls including multiple envelope generators, LFOs, dual digital effects, and a 64-step polyphonic step sequencer.

For more information about other 8Dio Add-On Packs, including “The Last Prophet” (the last production model of the Prophet-5 ever made), the ARP 2600, and the OBX, visit 8Dio’s website.

“We’re excited to see these new Prophet X add-ons from 8Dio,” commented Dave Smith. They add an interesting vintage slant to a very modern synth. To have these classic instruments available to perform with or to manipulate with the Prophet X synthesis engine makes an already-powerful musical tool even more versatile. ”

Bass Station 2 Additional Functions (the Sub 37 can't do!)

Published on May 14, 2019 Starsky Carr

"A little addition to my Bass Station 2 vs Sub 37 video, essentially revisiting some of the content I deleted in the final edit, because I ended up demoing the new functions of the BSII, taking the focus from the comparison. It did, however, leave the BSII a little unloved in the end as pointed out by Dark Sky Synth :)

So to rebalance the discussion a little:

Ring Mod 1:25
Osc Filt Mod 3:10
Microtuning 4:37
Aphex Twin Mode 5:54
GLide Divergence 6:41
3 Individual Osc 7:31
Amp Envelope 9:36"

Dave Smith & Dieter Doepfer at SUPERBOOTH 19

"#Superbooth19 with Dieter Doepfer!"

Two synth legends at this year's SUPERBOOTH. It's pretty amazing to think of the impact they have had in the world. Aside from creating incredible instruments, Dave brought us MIDI with Kakehashi from Roland in 1983, and Dieter brought back modular with the eurorack format in 1996. Analogue Systems worked in the same 3U format as eurorack, but with a different power system (some history on SOS here).
