Elektron Monomachine (drum synthesis) and Analog Keys

Published on Jul 24, 2019 MIDERA

"I became frustrated with the Machinedrum's delay in mute/unmute - some say it's not there, but I don't have this problem with the Monomachine - and then I remembered how amazing the Monomachine is as a drum machine, and then just had fun with it."

DIY Project #28: Circuit Bent Cassette Player

Published on Jul 24, 2019 poorness studios

"I purchased a GE 3-5027 cassette player off eBay and cracked it open to add a variable pitch control. I used circuit bending techniques to find the points and installed a switch and a pot. It was a tight fit but everything works pretty well.

Check out all my DIY projects in this playlist:"

New Alpes Machines Stereo One-O-Six Chorus

Compare Juno106 Chorus versus Alpes Machines Stereo One-O-Six Chorus Published on Jul 24, 2019 ALPES MACHINES

"Testing the Roland Chorus versus the Alpes Machines One-O-Six Stereo chorus. Both unit are based on the same circuitry : BBD analogue delay chipset.

The Stereo One-O-Six Chorus uses two MN3007 (1024 stage) which are clocked 4x faster than on the Roland, hence the low noise. Moreover, the alpes machines product use a modulator (triangle LFO) with variable Rate and Depth : it goes beyond the Roland possibilities.

Notice an external 1/8" jack to connect an external modulation source and the Direct Mute switch to mute the direct signal (vibrato effect).

For the test, the audio signal is taken at the output of the Juno VCA and injected inside both Chorus (Roland and Alpes Machines).

Crossfader Channel A is Juno 106 stereo output while crossfader channel B is One-O-Six stereo output. Both channels are aligned to the same level.

It is a multicam shooting, master audio is recorded to a digital recorder without mastering or signal treatment."

Alpes Machines brought us the Matrix Ctrlr / Controller.

"A box based on Roland Juno Chorus circuit with Rate and Depth controls.

Use MN3009 or MN3007 and a DC-DC step up inverter to get genuine Rolandish tone.

Technical specs :

Line level input : 0dBu
Mono 1/4″ TS Jack input
Line level Output : 0dBu
Stereo 1/4″ TRS Jack outputs
S/N : 85dB
power : typically 9VDC 2.1mm barrel center negative (7-12VDC compatible, similar to stompbox )
power consumption on 220V AC : 2.9 W & 8.9 VA (all LEDs lit and Roland PSU-1U)
+15V rail : 190 mA
-15V rail : 90mA
weight : 0.410 Kg (no battery)"

Roland Cloud vs Vintage Hardware

Published on Jul 24, 2019 Alex Ball

"A comparison of four of the instruments in the Roland Cloud "Legendary Series" with the original hardware units they're based upon.

SH-2 (1979)
TB-303 (1981)
SH-101 (1982)
JX-3P (1983)

I'll put my opinions in the comments below for discussion (as mentioned in the video).

Thanks to Ian Livingstone for the loan of the SH-2 and thank you for watching."

Sneak Peak: Roxsyn Guitar Synthesizer for iOS

Published on Jul 24, 2019 YonacSoftware

"Available soon for iOS!

Introducing a revolutionary new way to turn your guitar or bass into a fully featured polyphonic synth: Roxsyn, the world’s first metamorphic guitar synthesizer.

Unhappy with cold and temperamental guitar-to-MIDI synths that dominate the market, we developed a completely new approach to guitar synthesis. Our all-original technology synthesizes your guitar directly, without the use of MIDI notes. Rescued from being a poor keyboard substitute, your guitar suddenly becomes an integral part of the synth. It's alive!"

Percussa SSP Eurorack Module Adds Multichannel Streaming

Percussa SSP Eurorack Module Part 5 Livestream (COME PATCH WITH ME 15) Published on Jul 24, 2019 MATTHS

via Percussa (screenshots below):

"This time, Matt will give viewers and exclusive tour of a very special software update for the SSP, to be released by Percussa the same day. The update allows the SSP to stream up to 24 channels of audio, CV, trigger, gate and other signals via class compliant USB audio, to and from Mac and Windows computers, at sample rates up to 192kHz.

With this software update from Percussa, the SSP can function as a multichannel USB audio/cv/trigger/gate interface, with 16 physical inputs and 8 physical outputs, DC coupled, while simultaneously being able to run modular synthesis patches and record multichannel audio samples to disk. In his live stream, Matt will be exploring the use of Ableton Live’s new CV Tools and how these can be used in conjunction with the SSP module"

Video description:
"I am back again for Part 5 - looking at the #Percussa #SSP #eurorack module. This time - a very special update which allows the Percussa SSP to stream audio, CV, trigger, gate and other signals via class compliant USB audio, to and from the SSP, using the following channel combinations and sample rates :

24ch @ 48k
16ch @ 96k
8ch @ 192k

This basically allows the SSP to function as a multichannel USB audio/cv/trigger/gate interface, with 16 physical inputs and 8 physical outputs, DC coupled.

I will be exploring the use of Ableton Live’s new CV Tools and how these can be used in conjunction with the SSP module.

The SSP is Possibly the most comprehensive workhorse in the eurorack modular world. The module provides many possibilities from sampling, granular processing, polyphonic and monophonic playback, effects and much much more. This is part five of a series of videos in which I break down the module and what it can do."
