Why Modular? - Thoughts on Eurorack Vs Standalone Synths

Published on Aug 4, 2019 DreamsOfWires

"Warning: Contains talking! This video is intended mostly for those who are curious about, or considering getting into Eurorack Modular. After having a few chats with people on YouTube about modular and conventional synths, I decided to make a video sharing my thoughts and what I like about it.
I've built my channel on the back of self-contained synths, so I appreciate that most of my audience will be more into those kinds of instruments, and I still like them too. However, there are pros and cons of both, so hopefully this video will give people who are unsure of modular something to think about.

All sounds heard in the video are from AJH Synth Eurorack modules. A version without talking will be available on my Patreon page.

If you like my videos, please consider helping me to fund the continuation and development of my channel, by supporting me on Patreon for $1 a month and gaining access to occasional exclusive content, or by purchasing my music on Bandcamp:

"For the hardware jam challenge this weekend. It does not really sound like summer but for some reason this is something that reminds me of summer, not sure why.

Enjoy.

NOVATION SUMMIT - HUGE 16 VOICE POLY SYNTH MEETS A TINY LOOPER

Published on Aug 4, 2019 -CALC-

"Summit can sound creamy if you want it to......

I took a punt on a super cheap and incredibly small looper pedal.
It only cost £39 so I figured I'd give it a whirl.

Looping with Summit is fun... I was aiming for a more chilled, less harsh sound ;o).
The Summit is recording into the Donner Tiny Looper from an Aux on the mixing desk and the Compact A Phaser Clone is subtly twisting the loop before it heads out further into more space through a Strymon Big Sky.

The little mixer thingy next to the Compact A clone is a wonderful aux expander built following a random idea in Poznan. Huge thanks to Syntherjack for making a simple throw away comment an incredibly useful 1 in 4 out attenuated splitter."

Novation Ultranova - Modulation One

"A short Sound Demo of Novation Ultranova.

I almost sold my Novation Ultranova. But this synth is too good. It's so easy to build nice sounds using the great Modulation Matrix. You simply don't must think about normal and mainstream Soundediting, away frome the damn analog thing. Start a new patch at scratch. Leave the usual paths."
