Modal SKULPT and Micro Freak - Friday Fun Synth Jam

Published on Aug 23, 2019 sonicstate

"We confess, the Modal Electronics SKULPT got hidden behind something else on our instrument racks - it being so small, but we rediscovered it during a long overdue studio clearup. We thought we'd pair it up with the Arturia MicroFreak, stick them both into the Ventris Dual Reverb (a favourite of ours for its routing flexibility and well, the sound)

The Micro Freak is supplying the mono bass sound - has a Chemical Brothers vibe to it we think, and the SKULPT the harmonic pads."

Snazzy FX - workshop and live performance at SchneidersLaden

Published on Aug 23, 2019 SchneidersLaden

"On August 15th 2019 Dan Snazelle payed SchneidersLaden a visit to talk about his work as a musician and manufacturer of musical instruments. During the workshop Dan presented a short live performance, similar to what he plays in clubs and he talked through his system. By focusing on his own modules he explained what purpose his own designs serve in a modular system that is dedicated to live performances."

Korg Polysix through some Moogerfoogers

Published on Aug 23, 2019 once upon a synth

"This is just a short sound exploration featuring the Korg Polysix running through some Moogerfoogers and Valhalla reverb. I was mainly just warming up my new setup. I kinda decided to bring out some analog hardware again cause I've been getting back into some post-punk/new wave music and I forgot how much I love analog gear, especially like super noisy stuff. The moogerfoogers used are the MF-108M, MF-104M and MF-103. I also used a mini fooger ring mod. The MS-20 isn't being used in this vid. For reverb I'm using the ValhallaDSP Room plugin set to a large cathedral preset. There's also a bit of drums coming from Ableton via some CR-78 samples."

Eurythmics Sexcrime | The awesomeness of Sampling | Breakdown/tutorial/remake

Published on Aug 23, 2019 Espen Kraft

"The world of sampling came to my attention big time with this single 'Sexcrime' from the album '1984' by Eurythmics. I got set on doing voice sampling of my own voice in my music. This was back in early 1985. Fast forward 34 years and it's only appropriate that I remake/cover one of my old-time favorite songs."

nonlinearcircuits VCAs fuzz/distortion

VCAs fuzz Published on Aug 23, 2019 cirtcele

"Short demo of the fuzz section on this triple VCA."

"This 8HP module contains 3 VCAs and a fuzz/distortion. The VCAs are similar to the ones used in the NLC Cluster; simple OTA based but work very well.

The fuzz/distortion is part of the bottom VCA and is a typical diode based affair, on the PCB the space for these are thru-hole so you can install Si or Ge diodes or LEDs. Turn the Fuzz pot to 0 if you just want VCA.

PCB = USD18
Panel = USD20
assembled = USD160"

Update: the official press release:

"Los Angeles, California: Noise Engineering is proud to announce Seca Ruina, a multiband distortion and VCA module with extensive CV control, as part of their Distortion-of-the-Month series.

Seca Ruina takes voltage-controlled distortion in a new direction. Like a classic 3-band EQ, Seca Ruina has knob and CV control over low shelf, high shelf, and mid notch. However, instead of just changing the volume of each frequency band, it runs each through a separate drive circuit to give sounds completely new tones. Multiband distortion and processing is somewhat unexplored territory in Eurorack, and Seca Ruina’s separate band outs make further mangling easy, too. Combine Seca Ruina with multiple CV inputs to make it really shine! Seca Ruina also features a bypassable output VCA. Pair it with an envelope and you have a characterful way to control the dynamics of an oscillator or completely reshape a sound.

Seca Ruina’s thorough CV control, gorgeous multiband drive, extensive outputs, and small 6-hp footprint make it a no-brainer for any system, big or

Price: $180
