"Voice
SID is a 28-pin DIP-capsule chip from 8 bits computer Commodore 64 released on the market in 1982 machine based subtractive synthesis. SID generate 1 voice. A single voice is composed by 3 oscillators with variable parameters (detune, synch, transpose, delay start, PWM, ringmodulato)r and 5 waveforms: triangle, saw, mixed, noise, pulse with variable width.

Performance
machine offers some special playmodes:
- legato with adjustable time rate
- special polymode play the oscillators in polyphonic way for chords, but they cannot be assigned to different Midi channels.

Filter
multimode resonant filter with cutoff range from 30 Hz to 12 kHz:
- lowpass at 2 poles
- bandpass at 1 pole
- highpass at 2 poles
- band reject at 1 pole
- all: activates all modes in the same tim

LFO
4 delayed assignable modulators with polarity inversion, fade-in, variable depth and ABZ mode that change negative values into positive ones. The modulators are identical and have 7 waveforms.

Envelope
4 EGs in total, all 4 stages ADSR and quantisized into 15 values:
- EG1 OSC1 amp
- EG2 OSC2 amp
- EG3 OSC3 amp
- EG4 VCF

Arpeggiator
each voice features an individual arpeggiator that can be synched to Midi clock."

"Richard and Dan discuss the importance of slippers and the 4ms Pods."

I swear he says, "This is my first modular event that sucks." :) Some nice socks there... and tons of free shoes from the looks of it.

"Exploring the Locrian mode with dark, sweeping techno.

I tried to get around the main problem with the Locrian mode (its root triad is diminished, so it never feels at rest) by swiping a jazz technique and omitting the 5th, using a shell voicing instead. By making the other chords in the progression more dissonant and emphasising the root with other synths, I think it manages to reinforce the Locrian feel while avoiding the feeling that it's about to resolve somewhere else.

Apart from Waldorf Streichfett strings, the main voices are a Mother 32 bassline, plucky AFG arpeggios through a Pittsburgh Filter (not Mangrove through Sinc Bucina as I wrote in the video) and drums using both dedicated percussion modules and the Synthtech E352 for noisy snares than morph into wavetable stabs. I used the triangle suboctave trick from my previous tutorial video ([posted here]) to add heft to the Mother 32 bass, and the rest of the patch is explained in the video."

OVERSYNTH Panel Overlays for the Moog DFAM and Mother 32

Priced at $35 each via OVERSYNTH

"This is an aftermarket overlay that you place over the front panel faceplate of your Moog Mother-32 synthesizer. The overlay's artwork uses high contrast graphics and large fonts for easy viewing in low light. Note that we also make an overlay for the Moog DFAM that matches this color-scheme.

The overlay is printed on a highly durable, waterproof, and 100% recyclable polyester sheet (not vinyl, fiber, or plant-based). The matte finish is designed to minimize reflections from ambient light for maximum readability. If the overlay becomes dirty, we recommend gently wiping it down with a soft cloth moistened with water. We do not recommend cleaning the overlay with isopropyl alcohol as this may damage the artwork. Based on our testing, the following substances will severely damage the artwork if left on the surface for an extended period of time: tea tree oil, acetone, nail polish remover, bleach, household cleaners, and hand sanitizer."

OVERSYNTH also makes overlay panels for other synths.
