"One of the greatest features of this synthesizer is the 'feel' of the 61-keyboard itself. Indeed, the Virus KB would make a terrific keyboard controller. However, united with the Virus B synth engine, there really is no need for anything else to control!

This Virus KB works perfectly and sounds fantastic. Cosmetically, there are no large dents or scratches. There is light scratching in various places. The wooden side panels are whole, but have nicks and scratches. All the keys, knobs, LED's and the display work fine."

Behringer meets Bond // "Sneaky Acid Bond" with Behringer TD-3

Published on Jan 5, 2020 Acid Zoo

"This is a variation of the James Bond theme with the TD-3 as the only sound source (except the beats of course).

I overdubbed and layered it a couple of times to create the desired effect and added some drum programming. This track made me really wish i had more than just one TD-3 to use it polyphonic, but overdubbing it worked just fine... for the time being. ;)

Acid Zoo meets JB...

Enjoy!"

Frantic/pretty jam w/ Digitone, Volca Drum, Empress Multidrive, Lab, Ola, HX Stomp, Godin Stadium 59

Published on Jan 5, 2020 Jay Hosking

"A live, semi-improvised performance, all on hardware, and inspired by the possibilities of a new year. I picked up a Volca Drum over the holidays, and I'm astounded at how powerful it is for the price, from its independent sequencer lengths per track, accents, and "step jump" performance effect.

It's hard for me to start with drums, though, so I was stuck until a friend returned my Digitone, and then the song quickly came together. Kudos to Elektron for making multi-track gear that helps you construct songs quickly.

Kudos as well to the boutique pedal manufacturers out there. Strymon's Ola is beautiful, and my first choice whenever I need vibrato or chorus. Union Tube & Transistor is based out of my hometown, Vancouver, and their Lab compressor is gorgeous on drums (I only wish it were stereo, but maybe I just need to buy another).

And Steve from Empress was kind enough to send along my very first pieces of free gear (!). Here I put the Empress Multidrive to good use. I'm blown away by how the Multidrive can shape and mangle the drum sound but still maintain its clarity and bass.

Finally, I felt the song needed some guitar. The Godin Stadium '59 is the nicest guitar I have ever owned, from its sound to its feel. I can't recommend their guitars highly enough, if you play more than just synths.

Elektron Digitone — Four synth tracks (arp, melody, pad, bass)
Korg Volca Drum + Empress Multidrive + Union Tube & Transistor Lab + Strymon Ola — Drums
Godin Stadium '59 + Line 6 HX Stomp — Electric guitar

Written and performed within a 24-hour period, and uploaded as is, with only a little compression/limiting on the master.

ELEKTRON DIGITAKT // First Quick Test using Original Samples

Published on Jan 4, 2020 Genshi Media Group

"::| TO HEAR THE FULL RANGE OF FREQUENCIES, A GOOD PAIR OF HEADPHONES ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED |::

First quick test of the Elektron Digitakt Drum Computer/Sampler using my own original samples which I sampled from a variety of sources (my Eurorack, objects from around the house, orchestral sound libraries, etc.) I forgot how completely unintuitive Elektron boxes are... after transferring my samples over from my computer, it took me almost an hour just to figure out how to edit and load the first sample into a track! Hopefully, I'll get much better and faster with this."

SDS Dual LFO Concept Module

Published on Jan 4, 2020 freshnelly

"This little 4HP puppy was made by me for me as part of my Skiff-Gift for Christmas! I decided to take some time off and make a portable rack for the long waits at the ferry terminals (going both ways) and the long ride across. This will keep me busy I'm sure!

The LFO is a dual variety and not super intuitive to start, but performs very well and remembers all of the settings (which is important right?)
I like the little thing!"
