The Rhythmo Beatbox Is Like An IKEA Drum Machine

Published on Jan 22, 2020 Synthtopia

"At the 2020 NAMM Show, we talked with Ethan Jin, who gave us a quick demo of the new Rhythmo Beatbox, a DIY cardboard box drum machine.

The Rhythmo Beatbox is a DIY kit that you assemble yourself - sort of like an IKEA drum machine. It costs about $140 and takes about an hour to put together."

Published on Jan 22, 2020 Synthtopia

"At the 2020 NAMM Show, we talked with ASM's Glen Darcey, who gave us a quick update on their Hydrasynth polyphonic synthesizer.

Here's what's new in Hydrasynth 1.3:

MPE support ( SYSTEM page 5 )
MPE modulation matrix options (Mod matrix page)
Warm mode ( VOICE page )
Tighter Envelope attack time

The Hydrasynth is an 8-voice polysynth, with an architecture that features (per voice): three oscillators, offering 219 different waveforms; five ADSR envelope generators that offer delay and hold; and five LFOs that offer a total of 11 waveshapes, plus delay, fade in, and smoothing.

It also features an extensive array of controls, a full-size keyboard with polyphonic aftertouch (which allows for more expressive performance), a ribbon controller and CV/Gate connectivity."

DSI Prophet Rev2 / Anomaly - Custom Patch Demo / Tillborg

Published on Jan 22, 2020 Tillborg

"This is a short track I made using a custom patch I created on the Prophet Rev2. This will be included in my downloadable patch bank when I release it.

Disaster struck last week when putting the Prophet 08 patch bank on my Rev2, it deleted my custom patches which I had stored so far. I had 37 out of 128 finished so it has been a big set back but I have started again and I am determined to make it even better."

"Jupiter 4!! Roland's first polyphonic synthesizer that kicked off the revolution of famous Jupiter and Juno synthesizers of the 80s. This lovely instrument sports that original 70s Roland synth look with the nice chunky design, shiny knobs and preset control panel below the keys, one of the later models with this aesthetic. The sound is nice and warm due to the VCOs but it is easy to see how Roland's other polysynths evolved from this point. The layout is very similar to the Junos with a simple but effective control scheme that is hard to make a bad sound with. Of course this is a very early computer controlled synthesizer as well, allowing saving of 8 user presets, compuphonic! Its truely an amazing experience playing the Jupiter 4. It is incredible sounding and such a breeze to program, don't forget the amazing ensemble effect and built in arpeggiator. The LFO can even reach up to audio rate allowing for some awesome polyphonic filter oscillator FM. Its easy to see why the Jupiter 4 is an absolute classic.

This Jupiter is in great shape for its age with normal wear and tear but no missing button caps, switches or knobs. It was recently serviced and tuned and is working just as it did 40 years ago. The only stand out cosmetic issue is some sort of gunk between the bender section and top panel. It would not come off easily. Please see the detailed photos for reference to the condition."
