Roland MKS-80 with MIDI Designer on iPad

Published on Jan 27, 2020 quadratschulz

"Have an Roland MKS-80 and don't want to buy an overprized Roland MPG-80 controller? Or already have an MPG-80 and you are not satisfied with its laggy MIDI resolution. This layout for the Roland MKS-80 brings the following features:

- Much faster MIDI resolution than the MPG-80

- Simultaneous access to the upper and lower tone and patch without the need to switch between these areas via the buttons on the MKS-80

- Parameter feedback from MKS-80 to MD. If you change a patch or tone on the MKS, this layout will automatically update to all the current parameters (so you see what you got). You can also change patches remotely from this layout. If you enable the "Auto Sync" option (on the Patch page), the MKS-80 will automatically sync all the current parameter values back to the layout

- XY-Macro-Controls - controls both the upper and lower tone simultaneously

Pro 3 First Workflow Demo - Dave Smith Sequential

Published on Jan 27, 2020 True Cuckoo

"Here's a first workflow demo of how to create a couple of patches on the Dave Smith Sequential Pro 3. Terribly sorry about the clipping audio. I tried to save it as best as I could. Perhaps I didn’t make the most amazing patches, but I think it’s still a good example of some different workflows of the Pro 3."

Nordwave 2 Exploring the FM engine #namm2020

Published on Jan 27, 2020 True Cuckoo

"At NAMM2020 @NordKeyboards announced their new Nordwave 2, and it has a lot of things going on. One thing is a new FM synth implementation. It's fun and easy to work with. And since you have these Nord style 4 layers to work with, you have up to four layers of FM synths, that together can form one.. if you want to. Here I'm checking out the FM synth workflow on the new Nordwave 2."

"This is a voltage controlled amplifier module inspired in part by a classic vintage design. The Oakley Classic VCA is based on the ARP4019 sub-module

Two signal inputs are provided, one DC coupled and the other AC coupled. The former allows audio and low frequency signals to be processed. While the latter has a high pass filter so that it can be only used to process alternating frequencies. Both inputs can be used simultaneously and each one features an input level control.

Two control voltage (CV) inputs are provided. CV1 is linear and is provided with a standard attenuator pot that can control the sensitivity of the input. CV2 can be operated in either exponential or linear mode."

Custom White Kiwi Super 106 - Roland Juno 106

"Here’s the first ever Super kiwi 106!

Here’s everything that’s packed inside ;

- custom white graphics and LEDs - kiwi edition
- the kiwi cpu installed perfectly And ready to go.
- a full restoration of all the electronics including voice chips
- fully calibrated
- lighted bender
- external chorus input
- and a special mod over on the far right called the “M3 mod” from the Synth Spa.

This M3 mod has separate frequency and resonance controls for every voice. It’s also set up to provide filter distortion , but we can change that upon request by installing a resistor pack.

As you play , the indicator light for the voice you’re currently using lights up, for easy tweaking .

Here’s 3 good ways you can use this mod;

1. In mono mode. When pressing poly 1 and 2 together , it puts the 106 in mono mode. All notes play at one time. You can vary each voice’s frequency and resonance for a bigger fatter sound .

2. In Poly mode , you can vary each voice for a more expressive solo .

3. In poly mode , during a sequence you can vary every other voice for tastier arpeggios and sequences. Every note can sound different .

Oh and btw, those caps are from a pg200. :-)"
