Korg DW-8000 - a great synth for its price

Published on Feb 8, 2020 synthlegends

"The Korg DW-8000 is still a very underrated hybrid synth with wonderful digital waveforms and a warm analog filter. The internal delay really shines.

In this video you can listen classical and user friendly sounds for a band context, like pianos, organs, strings, brass, leads and pads. The DW-8000 does very warm MKS-20 like electronic pianos, realistic organs, wonderful strings like a Juno or JX and oberheimesque brass-sounds. Maybe it is the better Juno (if it were a Roland, not looking so ugly and had knobs it would cost maybe more than 1000 Euro).

I didn't use any effects beside the internal delay, no mastering, eq or plug ins in this video.
Thanks for watching this video. Stay tuned:-)"

"This Moog Satellite Model 5330 is in really great shape cosmetically and functions perfectly. Really hard to find one these days in this condition. The sound is silky smooth, warm and inspiring. You can hear why Vangelis used this, when you get your hands on one and start playing. Comes with a re-printed operational / service manual. Will be packed well with large bubble wrap, memory foam and will be double boxed. This unit runs on US standard 120V, so if you're buying from another country make sure that you have the correct voltage converter to power it with 120V."

This is a ridiculously underrated synth in my opinion. Almost sold mine, but glad I kept it.

Based on my search results, this is the first one to be posted on the site. I love it when "common" synths come up that have never been featured before. I know there were different versions of these from E-Mu. If you know them, feel free to comment below.

"The CS-60 is a uniquely expressive 8-voice polyphonic synthesizer, the little brother of the great CS-80. CS-60 sounds are infinitely variable, with tons of slider controls and touch sensitive keyboard (amazing in the 1970's!), plus a pitch bend ribbon. A classic, playable, organic, warm, liquid sound. See the YouTube link for an excellent demonstration of what CS-60's can do (the video isn't my CS-60, but mine can do everything shown.)

I bought my all-original 1978 CS-60 from the brother of a friend of mine in 1987, and it has been part of my home studio ever since. It is fully functional, though the exterior has some scuffs and marks which were there when I bought it and are detailed in the photos. I'm preparing to play more music on the road, and I want to start over with a more current rig so this one needs to go.

Includes lid, music stand and user manual - all original
Does not include legs/stand
Does not include sustain or expression pedals
Polyphony - 8 voices
Oscillators - 1 VCO per voice (square and saw plus PWM; 1 sub-osc with 4 wave types; noise gen) - one oscillator is slightly out of tune until warmed up
Assignable aftertouch
Memory - 12 presets, 2 user patches (second user patch is under cover on upper left side of panel)"

EMAXII SE SYNTHESIS DISK

Published on Feb 8, 2020 100 Things I Do

"A quick demo of the sounds on one of the E-MU Factory library disk's for the EMU Emax II. I picked up this pretty mint example of the EMAX II recently after looking for one at the right price for the last few years. I took out the original 40mb SCSI drive and replaced it with a SCSI2SD. What a difference it makes loading samples and booting the sampler! It makes the sampler feel very snappy to use and responds very fast. Also you can flick between menus in real time!

One of the small downsides for me at least is the key bed is super light touch which means my rather sloppy playing technique ends up triggering quite a few extra notes as a rest my fingers. Not sure if its been like this since new or just starting to show some age. :D

I hope you enjoy :D"

TM Synthesis FLUX - Temporal Modulation Rhythm Sequencer to Launch on Kickstarter

"Flux is a Temporal Modulation Synthesis Complex Rhythm Sequencer for Eurorack.

Temporal Modulation Synthesis applies a curvature to time, creating rhythms by modulating the linearity of trigger distribution within a step (each step can output a density of between 1-64 triggers). Trigger distribution can be modulated with a choice of 15 TM curves, the curvature of which ranges from -10 to +10 in 0.01 increments (2000 possible curvatures). Positive curvature values produce logarithmic responses, negative values produce exponential responses and a curvature of 0 results in linear spacing. 16 TM steps can be sequenced per channel, each with unique length, density, curve and curvature parameters. FLUX uses 64-bit double-precision floating point math internally to calculate rhythms with an extremely high degree of precision.

True Euclidean rhythms, polyrhythms & complex rhythmic patterns are extremely easy to generate and wide ranging in scope.
