Aquifex - OP-Z Jam3 mixdown with StillHouse sampler pack (SingleMaltCharred kit) rhythms 030120

Published on Mar 1, 2020 SynthAddict

"Quick-n-dirty OP-Z jam and live FX mixdown/performance using the excellent StillHouse sampler pack from Winston Giles Edwards and Ken Flux Pierce. I specifically used the SingleMaltCharred kit for all rhythm elements. Thanks for the cool kit guys! Enjoy...

Make sure you guys go get the excellent free sample pack from Ken's FluxWithIt website. It's very atmospheric and raw."

4 Voice Moog Tower-of-Power! [Little Phatty + 3 Slim Phatty Polychain]

Published on Mar 1, 2020 Marshal Arnold

"Tonight I noodle around a bit with a 4 voice Moog Little Phatty and 3 Moog Slim Phatty Synthesizers!

Polychaining the Littple Phatty and Slim Phatty is a simple process, the synths are daisy chained via MIDI DIN cables and I'm using a Novation 61SL MKII to play.

I'm using some external effects in Ableton, they are:
Reason Rack 11 RV7000 MKII Reverb
WAVES H-Delay

The patch is a modified version of the patch 64 - Legato Sweep. I removed the distortion overdrive and the glide from that patch, plus opened up the filter to 50%."

Crazy to think how far modular has come. None of this existed when launching this site back in 2005. The market was limited to a smal handful of boutique manufacturers. Also see Modular Synthesizer Ensemble - Bigband Bugenhagenschule.

VGM #172: World Map Themes (Overworld & Underworld) - Final Fantasy II (IV) Ft. Curious Quail

Published on Mar 1, 2020 Amie Waters

"Originally just planned on doing the overworld map theme, but then I fell into a volcano and realized I had more work to do! Technically this is Main Theme (Overworld) and Land of Dwarves (Underworld) from Final Fantasy IV. FFIV is the latest in my journey to beat classic RPGs I missed as a kid. I hope you enjoy this synth-chip jam ft. my good friend Mike from Curious Quail!"

"Exhibits + Seminars + Live Electronic Music + Pop-Up Synth Museum + DIY Synth Build + Gala Banquet

Synthplex® 2020 is back! Come and join the fun in Burbank at Synthplex, the “All Things Synthesizer” festival/ expo. Synthplex has it all; Trade Show Exhibits (Open Friday thru Sunday), Educational, Technology & Product Seminars, Synthesizer History Seminars, Master Sessions & Key Note speeches with Industry Legends (2019 we had Thomas Dolby, Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL), Brian Transeau (aka BT), Harold Faltermeyer and Dave Smith of Sequential), DIY synth building workshops, Live Synth Concerts all weekend long (Thursday night thru Sunday night), the Synthplex Pop-up Synth Museum and the Saturday night Gala Dinner Banquet with a live performance TBA. Last year we had Thomas Dolby give an intimate performance at the Gala Dinner Banquet.

What to Expect at Synthplex

Even in this age of online social media, with myriad synthesizer-related social groups, YouTube performances and tutorials, there is still no substitute for having a physical location where like-minded, synth people can come together and meet face to face/ear to ear. The West Coast has an amazing (and LARGE) community of synthesizer enthusiasts, who all look forward to the times when we can meet up, hang out, break bread and learn new things about synthesis. Enter Synthplex®.

Hands-on Experiences

There will be many opportunities at Synthplex® to get hands-on with a lot of synthesizer gear and much more. In the exhibit halls you will discover new products and you will get to dive deep into these products and experience them for yourself. All weekend long there will be equipment vendors giving demonstrations, and there will be daily DIY synthesizer building workshops (modular and other formats) going on in the morning and the afternoon.

Furthermore, Synthplex® has an extremely special Pop-Up Synth Museum, where you can experience firsthand many rare and valuable synthesizers with the guidance of museum docents. You don’t just get to listen and see these instruments, you actually get to tweak some knobs and play them! Note: Admission into the Pop-UP Synth Museum is a separate pass from the Synth Expo pass, as all profits from the Pop-Up Synth Museum will benefit the Bob Moog Foundation. Each year we will feature a new recipient for this donation..."

Onde Magnetique OM-1 Cassette Synthesizer + Accessories

"This is the limited edition 2019 version of the OM-1 with 1 extra tape (worn out/feedback) and Softpot Pitch Ribbon controller. Designed by Scott Campbell.

This thing is amazing! Only letting it go to make room for other gear. Works perfect. All items as pictured.

From the website:

The OM-1 Cassette Synthesizer is an analog musical instrument built around the concept that when a continuous tone/note is recorded to tape, its pitch will change as the tape's playback speed is increased or decreased. Individual notes are playable via the 8 buttons (keys), each with a tuning knob directly above it. The volume of the notes can be articulated by using the pressure sensitive volume control - the harder its pressed, the louder the note. A three position switch controls attack/release response of the audio output - Short, Medium, and Long. CV/Gate inputs allow control over the cassette's pitch and volume from a linear (non-quantized) voltage sequencer.

While loosely inspired by instruments like the Mellotron® and Ondes Martenot, the OM-1 has a sound all its own. Because it uses a standard cassette tape as its audio source, the sound creation possibilities are endless. The OM-1 is engineered for experimentation."

Sequencer Jam - Sequential Pro 3, Arturia MatrixBrute, Moog Voyager & MF-101 - ExperimentalSynth

Published on Feb 19, 2020 experimentalsynth

"Sequential Pro 3 is the MIDI master clock. MatrixBrute sequencer is synced to it. A Pro 3 oscillator is sent out its audio-rate CV post and filtered by the MF-101. An aux envelope CV is also sent to modulate the MF-101 filter cutoff. The Voyager's filter cutoff is also modulated by a clock-synced S&H LFO. All are processed by a Line 6 Echo Pro also synced to the master clock. Learn more at experimentalsynth.com"
