YAMAHA SK20 String Machine 1979 | HD DEMO

Published on Mar 20, 2020 AnalogAudio1

"(c) 2020 by AnalogAudio1

Synthesizer Demo of the analog synthesizer/string machine YAMAHA SK-20. I played it along with Lexicon MPX500 (reverb) and a Roland DEP-3 (delay).

Yamaha's SK-series are string machines with additional sections (poly-synth, mono-synth, brass, organ, depending on the model). The SK20 a model in the middle. It has "ORGAN", "STRING" and "POLY-SYNTH" sections, they all are mixable. The Poly-Synth section has a nice analog filter (but only one for all voices - finally it's a string synth, not 100% a synthesizer).

A nice layer-string machine!"

Flame -4 VOX Quad Polyphonic Wavetable VCO/X-4 Quad Envelope VCA/Knight's Gallop-Shakmat Modular

Published on Mar 20, 2020 Dziam Bass

"In this patch I wanted to show mainly 4 VOX Quad Polyphonic Wavetable VCO and X-4 Quad Envelope VCA from Flame Instruments.

I used only one VCO from 4VOX and two channels with X-4.
To this I added pulses from Knight's Gallop from Shakmat Modular to triggers in X-4.
small change of wavetbles and addition of slightly portamento.
the melody is used with LFO as the Arpregio method with clock and quantitative LFO to Pitch in 4 VOX.

More about modules:

FLAME "4VOX"
Quad wavetable oscillator - Quad LFO - MIDI wavetable expander

The 4VOX is a quad wavetable oscillator with up to four voices per VCO channel, resulting in a maximum of 16 voices at four individual outputs. Due to a MIDI input the module can be played both with CVs or/and directly via MIDI - MIDI allows for modulating some additional parameters. There are 39 memory locations for wavetables and 32 patches for all global and VCO parameters.

Casio FZ-10M | The Sound of 1987

Published on Mar 13, 2020 Espen Kraft

"Part 1 of my Casio FZ-10M experiences. The sound. Part 2 will put focus on features and operation.

The Casio FZ-1/10M/20M is capable of both sampling, subtractive synthesis, additive synthesis and you can even hand draw waveforms. It can do it all.
In this pt.1 you hear only sampled sounds, mostly DX and Emulator sounds."

Casio FZ-10M | Pt.2 - The System | Tutorial/Workflow

Published on Mar 19, 2020 Espen Kraft

"In Pt.2 I go through sampling, harmonic additive synthesis, how to draw waveforms, the 8 stage envelopes and more. This system can do so much and it's a true powerhouse and the sound is SO late 80s, Wonderful!

Unstoppable - a Krautrock inspired jam on the OP-Z

Published on Mar 19, 2020 Payton Carter

"Check out my music here - https://paytoncarter.bandcamp.com/

I started this jam trying to make something in the vein of Tangerine Dream. I'm not quite sure if it ended up sounded anything like them, but there's definitely some Krautrock influence here.

I'm loving the OP-Z. I'm used to manually changing patterns and sessions on the Novation Circuit, so I thought I would give myself a break and just chain everything together for mostly automatic playing. The workflow on the OP-Z can be a little frustrating at times (especially when trying to work with anything longer than 16 steps), but I think it's best suited to quickly get ideas down and not worry too much about the details. It's lightning fast in that regard.

The new reverb engine is loads better for atmospheric/ambient sounds, which I tend to utilize more. I also really like the new "Analog" sound engine. I'm using it on the arp track here. The only problem is that the two new sound engines each take up a spot in the engine selection, which means if you allow all 8 engines on a track, you only have two spaces for user samples. Surely there's space to allow for plenty more, especially with that (unutilized?) 1GB chip. Please TE, help us out here!"
