200+ Free Roland TR-909 Samples

via https://bvker.com

"Since producing my last sample pack “LoFi House” (which is mainly based on sounds from old drum machines and analog synths) was so much fun I couldn’t help but continue working on analog drum sounds. Now I’m giving away some free 909 samples & loops. Click on the button above to get access or scroll down a bit to learn more about the pack:

The TR-909 Rhythm Composer (invented by Tadao Kikumoto) is without any doubt one of the most iconic drum machines ever made. It was first manufactured in 1983 by Roland and had along with the TB-303 synth a huge impact on the development of genres, such as house, acid house or techno.

Whereas its predecessor, the Roland TR-808 is rather known for a clean sound and a long sub bass, the 909 comes with a punchy and saturated drum sound.

The drum machine is most famous for its dirty kick drum and open hat which is usually placed between the kick hits. Furthermore, the 909 is known for a shuffle mode, which moves notes slightly off-grid, resulting in a certain “groove”. This groove can additionally be adjusted using the “flam” and “accent” features.

Considering that the 909 was a milestone in the history of dance music (although it financially flopped) it’s clear that you can find its sounds in countless records.

From today’s perspective the 909 sound is rather old school, so I decided to adapt my free 909 samples to the requirements of current productions using a variety of modern processing tools.

I made sure, however, to also include some rather lo-fi or old sounding samples, some of which are strongly saturated, so you can use the kit for a variety of different styles.

In addition to the one shots I also made 20 drum loops, that I stemmed out in different groups resulting in a total of 100 TR-909 loops."

Vintage ARP Odyssey 1972 Mk. I + Full Patch Points + Cirocco Mods!

"Arp Odyssey Mk. I 1972, full patch points + Cirocco (C.M.S.) mods

Mods too many to list, but include (highlights):
Full patch points -- all main section outputs and all slider inputs
"Turbo" envelope switch, for true snappy (2600 style) envelopes
LFO free run
Back panel CV/gate controls
External audio input
A full set of mods can be seen from the picture. Mods were performed by #1 worldwide Arp tech Phil Cirocco (the guy who fixes/restores 2500's).

I should mention that another design quirk of the original Odyssey -- the delay between VCA and VCF gate times, has been eliminated!

Without this critical fix, no matter how fast the envelope times, it would have sounded slow due to the VCF gate delay. Not so here, the envelope is ultra-fast with the "Turbo" setting, and also sounds better and cleaner with the normal setting. This is what is meant by "true 2600 style envelopes" -- multiple coordinated modifications here really take this synth into a completely different category.

What you get is the 'best of both worlds'. You get additional features and sound of the early 1970's Mk. I Odyssey (much warmer early 1970’s oscillators, sweet filter resonance, hard sync), with the back-end snappiness and sonic character of the Arp 2600. On many patches the result actually sounds better than the stock 2600."

"Works great. Obvious wear and tear from its birth in 1977. Some sliders are missing the little plastic caps. Works awesome when paired with a modular system via cv and gate ins / outs. Awesome for guitar players with the guitar pickup (sold separate). Comes with power cable . Fun synth!"

Some great outdoor shots.

"This synth was designed with deep, dirty, growley bass in mind. The appeal of this fully analog, high-end synth is its size and portability. It fits anywhere, in tight set-ups, and is easy to haul around."
