Aquifex - Microfreak Only Jam (all parts) + Zoom MS-70CDR FX

"As part of a new series of one synth/all parts demos, this one is all MicroFreak.

The last one [posted here] was almost all one synth - a Fizmo plus a single layer of sampled choir, but this one is all MicroFreak… even the drums/perc.

I added some basic Zoom FX to certain patches for needed ambiance.

All recorded, assembled, and performed in LoopyHD on an iPad Pro (DAWless) - mixed live to a stereo recorder."

OB-6 (24-TET/Parallel-12): "The Four and Twentieth Mystery"

Kris Lennox

"24-TET, here in a very different flavour. OB-6 sounds great. Video only shows a single layer (there are a number of recorded layers; video recording was of the chordal layer). Works like this take a very long time to create; writing in 24-TET in a multi-layered, chordal manner is complex - and inputting in standard MIDI/transposing in the mind to 24 is difficult.

However, I'd say it is worth the effort. Great sound; completely new harmonic world. Very, very unusual transitions - almost like drifting between two worlds/dimensions. Through the looking glass?

I'm very much looking forward to the day where a control surface (other than the black and whites) is developed that allows for real-time 24-TET performance. There are a few interesting contenders at present.

Also great to see microtonality/possibilities implemented on more synths of late (...watch this space...!).

More soon. Maybe not 24-TET for a few months or so (...writing in 24 can be borderline traumatic!) - but I'll certainly upload some material on some new toys in the coming weeks.

Here's a link to the track on SoundCloud (I set up a separate channel exclusively for my 24-TET material) -

All best/enjoy
Kris"

Studio.H CSR random arabesques

Todd Barton

"The main feature of this patch is StudioHSoftware's Control and Signal Router (CSR) module which randomly created 30 presets which then the Buchla 200e is scrolling through. Enjoy the light show and sonic arabesques.

"The Kawai SX-240 is an eight voice, fully programmable polyphonic analog synthesizer released in 1984 as a follow up to the Kawai SX-210. It was manufactured by Kawai but originally released under the Teisco brand-name in Japan when Kawai bought out Teisco. The Kawai SX-240 and the Kawai SX-210 never got much attention due to entering the market during the time of the digital revolution and poor marketing. Its main analog competitors of the time were the Korg Polysix and the Roland Juno 6/60."

"The Roland Jupiter-6 (JP-6) is a 61 key, 6 voice polyphonic bi-timbral analog synthesizer, featuring dual oscillators (saw/square/pulse/triangle/noise waveforms with PWM, sync, and FM), resonant 24dB low|high-pass or 12dB band pass filter, dedicated filter and amp ADSR envelopes, dual LFOs (sine and saw/square/triangle/random), portamento/glissando, arpeggiator, chorus, 80 presets (48 editable), basic MIDI, XLR and phone stereo outputs, and arpeggiator.

This Jupiter-6 is fully functional. Cosmetics are very good (a few small scuffs or scratches), although it looks like some paint overspray got on the left side at some point, since there are some tiny white spots. I got a lot of the spots off by scraping them with my finger nail."

"Rare and ultra-awesome Roland System 100 Model 102 from 1976! In fantastic shape with only minor marks from handling and simply existing, this synth has had an entire suite of servicing including a full recap, cleaning, and full calibration. Everything works exactly as it should and it sounds fantastic! This is the 117v for US so no step transformer needed."
