Sequential Prophet-5 rev4 various sounds, filter & vintage knob demos

Paul Schilling

"A run-through of patches I created for the Prophet-5 rev4. Some of these were included in the factory set. I focused a lot on the rev2 SSM-based filters. In several of the patch demos I do some tweaking, for example to show the difference the Vintage knob makes, and to show the quality of the filter with low or high resonance.

No processing except a touch of reverb. Because some seem to prefer dry demos I included a few patches at the beginning with no reverb, and also all patches after 13:50 have no reverb."

The Fog - John Carpenter Cover

Scott Ampleford

"Another year, another John Carpenter cover. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
The Fog is another great film from the master, with a cracking score to boot.
Full of moody tension and synthesized dread in Carpenter's signature style, with a little help from the great Dan Wyman. I hope you enjoy my renditions in this medley of classic themes.

Voice of the Mountain/ STG Oscillator drone

davidryle

"A little more detail about the modulation feature of the new STG Soundlabs Oscillator. Actually two of them in 5U large format.
This a longer drone so you can hear the slow and subtle pitch modulation. They are capable of very stable tuning as wee as outrageously wide modulation. All this right on the front panel with a unique type of drift algorithm.
The drone is controlled by a pair of Q960 sequencers and a pair of STG Voltage sequencers for octave and semitone transpose. The video demo is in two parts. The first part is a display of the modulation amount and drift speed, as well as the semitone and octave switching. They are also capable of LFO functions and a smooth sweeping 'WIDE' setting.
The second portion is a long (10 minute) ambient chill drone with various delays and reverbs. The slowly drifting pitch modulation reminded me of distant horns so I had to visualize some mountain voices. I also added a drifty, noisy filtered background for atmosphere."

Noise Engineering

http://adamcuthbert.com/

"Adam Cuthbert (b. 1988) is a Detroit-based composer, mix engineer, and sound designer whose sometimes spare, sometimes brutal music has been described as an “eerie dreamscape” (The New Yorker) and “the lead-footed revving of double decker buses” (Acid Ted). Their work fuses acoustic instruments and control voltage to create immersive sound environments, garnering notice from The New York Times, NPR, Backstage Magazine, and the San Francisco Chronicle, which finds it “hard to resist the vigor and inventiveness of his writing.” Cuthbert has collaborated with cutting-edge ensembles like Bang on a Can, Friction Quartet, and the GVSU New Music Ensemble. Cuthbert’s recording discography includes artistic credits in the catalogs of Ghostly International, Cantaloupe Music, Innova Recordings, ModyWorks, Underground Producers Alliance, people places records, and slashsound. Cuthbert’s performs on trumpet and electronic instruments with skullcap5050, I-VT, and kuuma, and is a regular collaborator with choreographer Maura Donohue (tidesproject, zero...sixty at Roulette Intermedium). Their sound works for dance and theatre have been performed with inmixedcompany, at The Asia Society, La MaMa Moves, and New York Theatre Workshop. Also active on the industry side, Cuthbert is Licensing Manager for the Grammy-winning label Cantaloupe Music, and together with Daniel Rhode he is co-founder of slashsound records. They live in Detroit with their spouse, Rebecca, and cats, 健三 & 千代.

Normandy Falls is a synthesist currently residing in Central Texas. He primarily uses and performs with eurorack modular, but does on occasion combine this with hardware synths and drum machines. His music ranges from ambient to techno, you never know what each performance is going to feel like."

Crazy Chain - the Daisy Chain power cable reinvented. Power Korg Volcas guitar effect pedals + more!

myVolts

"At myVolts, we're always trying to make life simpler. Have you ever wanted to carry less power supplies around? Do you rather not have "spare ends" from your daisy chain cable? Does it not have the correct tip for your synthesizer?

We hope to solve those problems, with our stylish DC power cable solution.

You can select the Tip size, polarity or chain link length to allow the right set up for your pedalboard, your synth stand, or where ever you'd like your life to be a little less complicated.

In this video, Luke Brennan, MD at myVolts explains how to power 3 synths and an effects pedal from one USB port. This is achieved with a USB powerbank, one 9V+ Ripcord USB Cable and a Crazy Chain, available from our online store: https://www.myvolts.com/crazychain

This mobile USB powered synthesizers setup features a Korg Volca Modular, a Korg Volca Bass, a Sismo Samba (two outputs, one passed through a Zoom MSC70 Effects Pedal)."
