Nosferatu Analog Synth Soundtrack

deitersmonkey

One for HALLOWEEN 🎃

"The world’s first cinema Vampire: 1922 FW Murnau’s silent film (Public Domain) with my own musical compositions using 40 year old analog synthesizers to augment the haunting, stylized German expressionist classic. There were many blown capacitors and broken pure silver key trigger wires along the way. This film was forced to be destroyed by Bram Stokers widow, due to the obvious plagiarism of 1897’s Dracula. It survived as copies were found in cinemas during the 60’s.

I have been working on this project for a very long time and the convergence of many themes of Nosferatu and 2020 inspired me to finish it off.

I respectfully approached this as my personal homage to all of the great electronic music pioneers of the 1970’s."

Big Briar 331 Touchpad by Bob Moog with Synton 3000 Modular synthesizer

David Morley

"The Big Briar company was created by Bob Moog after he left Moog. He sold Synton synthesisers and the 331 touchpad was created to be used with the 3000 system. I just cleaned mine, so decided to test it. A very short video, but no doubt highly interesting to 7 people. I'm triggering the Fenix III sequencer and controlling the filter cutoff and LFO speed with the touchpad."

SUZUKI OMNICHORD OM-84 demo by Morgan Fisher

morganfisherart

"A short demonstration of the Suzuki Omnichord OM-84, a unique analog instrument that contains drum patterns, bass patterns, rhythmic chords and a kind of synthetic harp. Recorded in 2013 in Morgan Salon.
スズキオムニコードOM-84の簡単なデモ。 ドラムパターン、ベースパターン、リズミカルなコード、合成ハープを含むユニークなアナログ楽器です。 2013年にモーガンサロンで録音。日本語字幕があります。"

EML SYNKEY 2001 demo by Morgan Fisher

morganfisherart

"A short demonstration of the EML Synkey 2001, a unique analog instrument that offers parallel harmonies on all 12 intervals of the octave. Frank Zappa used it, and I was first shown it by Eddie Jobson, his keyboard player, back in about 1976. Recorded in 2013 in Morgan Salon.
EML Synkey 2001

RMI Keyboard Computer (KC1) combo organ

1973 - The Computer Keyboard (prototype)
1974 - The Keyboard Computer (this one)
1975 - The Keyboard Computer II (until 1982)

"...'morganfisherart' did an excellent job demonstrating the KC2 [posted here], but there weren't any good ones for the KC1 unless you count the 1974 RMI demo record. I recorded my KC1 direct using no effects or EQ. Hopefully this video should clear up some misinformation around the internet. This instrument is not a sample player or a synthesizer, it was never available to the public with illuminated buttons, and channel 3 is not even in the same ballpark as a "white noise effect".

I have to do a shout-out to a couple of scholarly gentlemen who wrote a book in 2019 that I highly recommend called "Classic Keys, Keyboard Sounds That Launched Rock Music". A few years ago I had my Keyboard Computer professionally photographed and a couple of those pictures were used in this book. Anyway this book is filled with a lot of very in-depth research and even recently won an award."

"Practicing Therevox volume control from pedal instead of the wooden expression buttons, so that I can use the left hand to play accompaniment chords in real time. It is a challenging instrument to play, but sounds like a choir of angels"

VAI 11 : Roland TR77 - Böhm Solist 78 - Digitech Synth Wah Envelope Filter

Vintage Audio Institute Italia

"The Roland TR77 Drum machine is going through the Emthree Pulsatron Mixer for crunch, phasing and spring reverb.
The Dr. Böhm Solist 78 is playing the bass through the Digitech Synth Wah Envelope Filter - pedal, while the first chords are going through a mysterious no-brand phaser "Rotor Monster" (that could be some kind of Vermona product), the seconds short decay chords go through the Roland RE-301 Space Echo.

The drum machines are not midi-or clock synced, just synced manually.

We make these videos as a showcase for our studio and for curious vintage heads - and for fun.

We don't dilly-dally too much with production and mixing but it can sound pretty good with headphones on."
