Waldorf Q Multis: Sequences and Arpeggios

video by wedream2

"This is my second video on the Waldorf Q. Here I demonstrate Multi programs using sequences or arpeggios with multiple sounds, split and layered across the keybed. The Arpeggiator is very flexible and creative. Melodic sequences can be built up on the fly and evolved in real time.. The Waldorf Q is a 16-part multi-timbral synths with 4 separate simultaneous FX engines. Less complicated than a full work station, the Q is definitely a 'play station.'"

First video posted here.

Arturia MicroFreak Noise Engineering Algo Techno Test + Free Patches (Feat Empress Effects Zoia)

video by Sound Provider

"Arturia has just released a new OS for the MicroFreak Synthesizer with as main new feature the addition of 3 new algorithms created by Noise Engineering. Being a fan of the MicroFreak Synth and Noise Engineering (I have few Eurorack Modules from them), I couldn't miss it, so I tested a little Techno loop where I exclusively use the MicroFreak with the Noise Engineering Algo.

As the MicroFreak doesn't have any effects, I used Zoia from Empress effects to add delay and reverb (I love this pedal), I also used different eq and compressors to mix the songs.

To find the patches I use on the video (plus little more) go here: https://gumroad.com/soundprovider

I ll also add them on https://www.sound-provider.eu/ soon , you can download them for free, just put 0 on the price (even if I'm not against a tip, a like or a follow to thank me if you liked it. 😉 )

It was quite funny to make this video, tell me if you're interested that I make other videos like this one where I also share the patches (not necessarily that with the microfreak)

Spherical Sound Society ARCANE: Generative Chiptune FM Drum Synth

video by ZElTGElST

Spherical Sound Society brought us the Opera Rotas Experimental FM Drum Machine posted here.

"ARCANE is a generative synth that lies somewhere between a synth, a sequencer and a drum machine, depending on how you interact with it.

It is based on an authentic Yamaha YM2413 FM chip; the one used in some arcade coin ops, MSX and in the japanese version of the Sega Master System.

To control it it has 6 potentiometers and 3 buttons. The pots are:

-Tempo. It controls the tempo/speed

-Base Register. It determines if the machine is more musical or glichy

-Intensity. The higher this pot, the more amount of notes and percusions sounding. This is a veru playable way of alter the generative composition by transitioning between the simple and complex sound explorations

-Sequence. It let you browse between sequences.

-Dispersion. the higher this pot, the most registers that we are writing on the chip, so the sequences get more complex and chaotic

-Combination. It multiplex, demultiplex and recombines sequences, keeping the output related but always fresh and different

It has 3 buttons, Left, Right and Reset. Reset is located in the arduino and is self explanatory. Left and Right buttons are to be determined as the firmware is still in development.

It has Clock In and Clock Out so you can synch it with external gear

It comes fully assembled and ready to play.

The first three are internal with the last two being accessed via the front panel card slot. This slot is PCMCIA compliant and accepts either ROM cards or user RAM cards. Each of the five banks contain 128 presets. The hyper presets are used for layering other presets, or setting up keyboard zones for using multiple presets with different keys.

Bank 0 — User RAM presets
Bank 1 — ROM presets
Bank 2 — Hyper presets (User editable)
Bank 3 — Card presets *
Bank 4 — Card Hyper presets *
* if using a RAM card, banks 3 and 4 are user editable.

The UltraProteus is based on the same engine as it’s sister, the , but an entirely different sound set and additional filters (288 compared to 197 in the ).

Korg Poly 61M Vintage Analog Synth with MIDI SN 001636

""Unlike many Poly 61s that are out there, this one is not all bashed up. The body is in great condition, with only a few minor nicks, and the synth is in very good working form. It has never had a battery leak, so all the functions work perfectly, and I did the following to it, to get it in top shape:

- I replaced the original battery with a CR2032, in a battery holder on a longer set of wires to make changing it easy.
- I totally refurbished the keyboard, cleaning all the keys, cleaning all the contacts, and adding carbon discs to the contacts, as per the solution by Sounddoctorin.com. That brings all the keys to perfect working condition.
- I removed all the tactile button switches and replaced them with brand new ones. That solves the annoying problem of having to keep hitting the program buttons many times until they work, or having them double count because of contact bounce. Now all the programming buttons work flawlessly. There is a photo showing the new switches(blue) on the two switch circuit boards.
- I cleaned all the pots to eliminate scratching noises and jumping values.
- I replaced any of the screws that were missing, and all the feet are there, too.

This is a really great sounding synth, with a pure analog voice signal, and very stable tuning thanks to the digital control of the oscillators. And with factory midi, it is just a dream to own. It is fully tested, and loaded with sounds from a file I downloaded onto my phone from the internet. There are lots of those out there, and it is easy to do. And of course, you can create and save your own sounds."
