$50 Off Dr. Bleep's Next Arduino Synth Class Set For April 12th

via Bleep Labs

Spring and the next session of dadageek courses are here.

I've got another session of my "Making Synths with Arduino" course starting April 12th. Sign up before March 21st for more than $50 off. Scholarships are also available but fill up fast so apply soon.

These classes will teach you the basics of how to code in Arduino but they are also great if you have expedience programming in any language and want to get into Arduino, making noise, or just learn more about how synthesizers work.

The Bleep Base is included with the price of admission. It's a new educational platform based around the powerful Teensy 4.0 that will allow us to experiment with more controls, i/o, memory, and speed without needing to troubleshoot breadboard connections and deal with add-ons that get in the way of learning to code your own synths and effects.

The course starts April 12th and goes for 7 weeks, meeting in zoom every Monday at 6pm CDT. Check out the dadageek page for all the info.

Best,
Dr. Bleep

Benge TKS with VCS3

video by zack dagoba

"My first tests on the TKS sequencer and the VCS3 Mk1. Its amazing! It really adds a whole new dimension - and keeps it all in family too. I'm going to have a lot of fun with this setup I think

Here I am sending a simple looping pattern to the VCS3 oscillators and also sending the sequencer signal to half of the ring mod - this is what gives the extra punchy attack on the noise and 2nd VCO - when you put them into the other half of the ring mod the sequencer acts as a gate / VCA trigger and it sounds super cool and awesome. Thanks Keith for the tip, and also getting it all up and running for me - you are the Synthi king!"

Generative Music: The Seagull & The Walrus

video by Todd Murray

"Generative music with a modular synth is not so much about playing notes with a keyboard or sequencer. It's about building a story from clock pulses, oscillators, filters and modulating everything. Its about how you feel, while making it. It is not really random, although it can be. Many cases it is about controlling or selecting waveforms that may suit a particular scale and pattern. The best part is, if you don't record the story, it is gone forever......

Modules used:
Intellijel Quad VCA
Intellijel Scales
Intellijel Mixup
ALM Pamela's New Workout
Mutable Elements (DIY)
Mutable Plaits
Mutable Stages
Mutable Beads

Microtuning - Exploring new frequencies // Novation Live

video by NovationTV

"In this livestream -CALC- explores the vast world of MicroTuning - looking at what MicroTuning actually means, how to use it musically and how you can create your own tuning tables from scratch. -CALC- will be using the Novation Peak which, like Summit, has very powerful in-built tuning capabilities. We’ll also be looking at the incredibly powerful (and free!) Leimma software. Recently developed by Khyam Allami and Counterpoint, Leimma explores multicultural and experimental microtunings and applies them across the music tech landscape. We'll be using Leimma to build tuning systems directly for the Bass Station II.
