YouTube via DIGITALSCREAMS.
"Roland Jupiter 8 (12 bit version) - 1981 model - all sounds programmed and recorded by me.....some years ago. Totally classic.....and very expensive sounding. Hope you enjoy...."

Wonderfull sounds! Makes me really want one to pick one up. Has a unique Roland sound you can put into words. Truly special.
ReplyDelete"you can put into words"...?
ReplyDeleteSee, this is what happens when "I could give a damn" becomes acceptable usage... *ducks & runs*
This sounds nothing like the Arturia one.
ReplyDeleteWhy, oh why, can't they make Analog synths sound more like their digital cousins.
Perhaps this could sound closer if some of the capacitors were removed, or resistors clipped.
those are some pretty unique sounds - I'm impressed!
ReplyDeleteI too was disappointed by the Arturia Jupiter 8V - sounds very little like an actual JP-8, in my opinion. It's a decent VA in its own right, just not a good emulation of the JP-8.
ReplyDeleteI agree mib.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fine VA sure, but it's like it has nothing to do with the awesome Jup 8 at all.
The real Jup 8 sounds gives me goosebumps. The Arturia makes me turn the volume down.
And yet in July's SOS, Gordon Reid said: "The statements posted on a well-known synth web site that, 'quite honestly this thing sounds awful... don't believe the claims it sounds the same or similar to a real JP8 because it seriously does not come even a little bit close' are palpable nonsense. Given that I'm sitting here with a Jupiter 8 under my left hand and my Mac running 8V in front of me, I'm very confident of my ground here"
ReplyDeleteBut presumably he doesn't know what he's talking about, so that's OK. I mean, it's not like anyone pays for his opinion on such matters or anything.
Here is a mp3 i recorded few days ago :

I wish that Roland would produce the Jupiter 8 again, I would definitely buy one!
