when you zoom in on the controls, this is far more detailed analog synthesis than one would get from an Access Virus or a Nord Lead or a Novation Supernova. Coupled with Kurzweil's effects, this would have been a monster synth. I'm not sure what kind of market there is for this kind of synthesizer anymore, but if you compare the tactile controls here to the sparse K2700 layout, I think the only changes I'd want for a modern version of the VA-1 is a) larger screen b) ribbon controller. It's beautiful and I'd buy it if it was half the price.
